  1. It is interesting to note, however, that the entertainment industry has certainly not abandoned heels.  Watch any US talk show and the female guests almost always wear some very nice and still largely stiletto styled heels.  Also most news women tend to wear heels, as noted by the morning news shows where their shoes are often on display.  Even the ladies on the Golf Channel here in the US almost always wear stiletto heels.  Yet most women in the general populace wear few heels, if any, and if they do wear heels, they tend to be either wedges or chunky heels.  Historically, the public tended to follow the lead of the entertainment industry, but that does not seem to be the case any longer.  Yes, occasions such as weddings and corporate holiday parties do bring out the ladies in heels, outings such as church or a dinner out are now typically a casual affair.  And for most jobs, it appears that casual clothing and footwear is also the most typical choice.  I'm giving away my age here, but I do miss the "old days", lol.

  2. You guys are both right.  I never stopped to think about that.  It is something I would never do unless I had the permission of the wearer.  However, I also do think that as long as there is no way to identify the wearer in a photo, a candid shot of a pair of shoes is not worst thing in the world.  But in this day and age, it is likely better to refrain.  HinH, I was not so much indicating a lack of availability of heels - yes, they are out there - but more so to the lack of women actually wearing the shoes.  I've often wondered where all those heels that are sold in the stores go, because I so seldom see any in real life.  Do women buy them and not wear them?  Actually, I probably have my own answer for that as I have seen many a pair in second hand shops that have obviously seen little to no wear.  And you're right about the economy=heel height thing (which of course makes no sense), but I wonder if the cycle will repeat this time as, as I indictaed, the trend toward more casual and athletic styles and away from dress styles is far stronger than ever before.

  3. I was just browsing through the Gallery section and noticed that the last post in the "Street Shots" section was November 30, 2018, almost a full year ago.  It sure does seem like heels are a rare sight these days.  While I'm rarely in the business district any more where I'd guess heels might be a bit more prevalent, I'll bet I haven't seen 10 women wearing a pair of heels in the last year.  Some wedge platform sandals in the summer maybe, but a non-wedge shoe or boot with a heel of more than maybe 2.5 inches is basically non-existent, either stiletto or chunky heel. Even in boots, which for several years seemed to be the primary choice of footwear with a heel, most are now two inches and less.  No wonder there aren't any current street shot postings!  I was in a store today known as Shoe Department Encore, a very large store, and they had a single side of one aisle with dress shoes/heels, and at least four double sided aisles of sneakers/sport casual styles etc.  Even DSW, which always had a great selection of heels, is down to one aisle in the store.  While it is not the first time in history that heels haven't been overly popular, even during the times of low and chunky heels, women were wearing dress shoes.  Today, we have low heel riding boots and booties, and casual/athletic styles - not even a halfway decent looking pair of dressy feminine flats for the most part.  I know in the past that heels have been cyclical, but the lack of dress styles being worn, regardless of heel height, is most troubling.  My state of health is going to limit my ability to weather an extended non-heel cycle, and it is kind of depressing for me...lol.

Made a few stops today. Had to get a replacement handle for my toilet, so Lowes was my 1st stop, browsed around for half an hour, the went to Best Buy to pick up a PS4. Then some wandering around Macys. Finished up at Nordstrom Rack where I picked up a pair of nude Sam Edelman pumps. My heels today were a pair of red pumps by INC, which is the house brand of Macys. I like these pumps as they are quite comfortable to walk in, I have a few pairs in different colors. No subtlety in these heels as I got noticed several times. Had a mother & her young daughter walk by me as I was watching a display video & I noticed the mom walking past say something to the girl & her head spun around towards me. I turned towards them & the mom was jerking on her arm in a "don't stare!..don't stare!" kinda way while the girl just stared back & smiled at me the whole time. I got a kick out of that. Red heels are not for the faint of heart!

Great heels for out shopping!  Classic and walkable!  Wish I had the gumption to wear my heels on full display as you did!

As an aside, Chesterx, what size do you typically wear, and do the INC heels run true to that size?  I have been eyeing those heels for some time, as I love the classic cut, but I am afraid they'd be a bit on the narrow side in the toe box.  I have a somewhat wide foot, so I guess I could get them in 11W (thanks Macy's for at least having the wide sizes available), but I hate to buy without trying, and finding an 11W in a Macy's store is about impossible.  I know you said they were comfortable, but are they also true to size?

Yeah, as of right now, my wife doesn’t appear jealous. I admit though that the shoe sharing with my coworker has only just started, and even when at work is rarely in the forefront. It is more of an ‘oh hey, I’ve got a few minutes of free-time’ instead of a priority in my day-to-day

I'd tread carefully if I were you.  Wouldn't talk about the work friend at home too much!  Your wife could get very jealous if you and your co-worker are getting too chummy!

Quite a few people around, I did notice a few people look, but got 0 comments. The sky didn't fall. Pushed myself out of my comfort zone a bit further...

Way to go, man.  I have been wearing my heels quite a bit lately (though my feet have been barking at me so I might have to back off some(.  I know my heels have been noticed at times, but like you said, no comments.  I just go about my business and it does seem fine.

  7. Not really a boot, but not a shoe either.  I guess these would be called a "shootie"?  I purchased these about a week ago.  $20 on the sale rack at Shoe Carnival.  When I them on in the store I thought they would be quite comfortable.  However, when I have worn them out and about, they start to hurt, especially my right foot, after about 15 minutes.  My right foot is about a half size larger than my left, but I was kind of surprised at this based on how they felt in the store.  They are Vintage 7 Eight brand, but there is no style name noted.  The heel is 3.75 inches, which is a very nice height for me, and they are quite stable to walk in.

  8. I bought these at a resale shop a month or so ago for $20.  Guess brand, no style name noted in the shoe. It appeared that they had never been worn.  They have a heel of just a smidge over 4".  For a stiletto, they are pretty darn comfortable, though I'm having my usual issue of walking out of the left shoe.  I did wear them out shopping one evening, which is not like me as I tend to stick to less obvious heels when I am in public.  It was a thrill for me, and I just loved the way the chrome ornament caught the light when I walked in them.

  9. So sorry for all that are dealing with health and other issues of their loved ones.  It is not easy.  Hope you can find some comfort.  We often forget that the members here are just like the rest of the world and are dealing with life's ups and downs and not just the issues related to our footwear choices.  Best wishes.

No, I don't wear heels. But I love high heels, probably more than my wife! I've bought her Casadei, Louboutin, along with shoes from strip center shoe stores, that cost $20! If it looks good, and I want to see her in them, I'll pick them up for her. Unfortunately, she's mostly stopped wearing them, and my purchasing has greatly decreased.

I'd like to see the ones you mentioned.

Seems to be a common refrain these days.  For years my wife was happy to wear whatever I bought for her.  She was never a shopper so she didn't mind me doing it for her and generally liked what I brought home.  Unfortunately, a nerve problem and her bad feet put a complete end to heel wearing - cannot even wear an attractive pair of flats these days. If not for the physical issues, she'd likely still wear some heels, but it seems like women are pretty much staying away from heels these days.  Too bad for us!  But I do enjoy wearing heels as well, and since she can no longer wear them, my desire to do so has increased.  Just wish I would have made my desires known to her years ago so I could enjoy it more often now.  Simply too late in life, and in a wrong position physically, to do so now.

  11. Being nice and giving compliments should be a good thing, but for some reason when it comes to women and their heels, men who notice and compliment them are often considered as "creepy" shoe fetishes.  Ok, so I qualify for the fetish part :fine:, but I've never thought of myself as creepy!

  12. It has been many years since the last time I gave a compliment to a woman in a grocery store, mentioning how nice her heels were.  She looked at me like I was a total weirdo andsaid a snide "ok".  That pretty much told me I should keep my opinions to myself, and I have ever since.  These days, it's so rare to see a decent pair of heels that if I see some, it's really difficult not to comment with a "thanks, so great to see a lady in heels", but I bite my tongue!

  13. I agree.  It is so rare to see these days that one would really love to tell the wearer how wonderful they look.  But these days one could be charged with sexual harassment just for giving a compliment.  Sad times........
