Nice going, HiddenHeels. It took a lot of courage to do what you did on the way out. Glad the world didn't stop spinning. Also glad, however, that you dodged that bullet on the way home!

I agree. Men's heels from that era were not good looking shoes.

October is one of the nicest months here on the coast. We are still in the high 70's low 80's, depend how close to the ocean you are. Chilly in the mornings and nights though.
I hoping for 3 more weeks of shorts.
Oh shut up....lol. We midwesterners are not so fortunate!

Goofy looking
I tend to agree. Not my style at all.

Good for you!

Yessir..... Losing Payless was / is a blow... I miss 'em too. I had been a Payless customer since the 1970's... Target has some nice shoes to size 12 in many styles. And Marmi has shoes / sandals to size 13. A bit pricy but worth it.
Good luck.... sf
Target has size 12 ib store in your area? 11 is the highest they go around me.

Definitely miss Payless and their wide range of sizes. Kind of surprised that no other retailer has stepped up to fill that void....

hh_pe, let us know if she follows up on her vow to wear heels as well!

The time is drawing near when we must put away our shorts, as least in this hemisphere. Unless you're THIS woman, of course. It'd be kind of handy to be able to wear summer clothes in the winter.
Wish I knew what she was saying. Does she really not feel the cold? Crazy!

While I like many of the styles offered by Nine West, they often run on the narrow side, which is not a good fit for me.

Probably around 10 or 11 years old I would occasionally slip on my Moms heels. But as she wore a very small size 5 1/2 US, I didn’t fit into those very long. In my mid teens I’m embarrassed to admit that I pilfered a pair of heels that belonged to a classmates mom that wore a much larger size. While heels were likely no more than 2.5 inches, I did enjoy them. I think the first pair I purchased was from Thom McAn, a brown pump with a slightly thicker than stiletto heel back in maybe 1968 or 1969, the only heel they had in the store in size 10.
I wish I had all of the shoes I’ve bought through the 50 years since, though maybe having the money spent instead would be better! I’ve always had storage issues so I rarely kept/keep what I buy very long. Typically donate those I part with to places like Salvation Army or churches, so people do get some bargains on nice, minimally worn heels in size 11 or 12. Hopefully someone then gets good use out of them!

You look great in those outfits. And the pumps are perfect with those jeans!

The one near me had an extremely limited selection in size 11 and I’ve never seen a 12 there. Pretty much a waste for me in terms of shoes.

Nice finds for not much cash! Personally I like the first pair best.

I can remember trying to buy a pair of heels in the late ‘60’s at Thom McAn in size 10 and being told that the style I wanted only goes to size 8. The store had a very limited selection of size 10. While I can wear a size 11 now, they really need to be a wide width, and those are at least, if not more, rare than size 12. So I’m still pretty much stuck with limited styles, mostly the ones I don’t like!

It is great when we actually finally do the thing we've been wanting to do! With my physical issues, I cannot walk too long in heels anymore, but I still enjoy the occasional outing. WIth the heat of summer here, things will be limited for a while as long jeans and 90+ temps don't really go together so well...lol

I’m sure many if not most of us here have had most of the feelings and conflicts you have had. I am at a point in my life where, while I’d love to openly wear the footwear of my choosing publicly, it’s just not going to happen for me. I’ll likely continue to do things similarly, with long pants that cover the heels. I don’t need someone to take an unknown photo and end on Facebook or somewhere. It’s just too late in my life to want to upset my wife and family just for a bit of my own enjoyment. So I’ll take the occasional outing and enjoy it as much as possible. Life would be easier without the desire for heels for sure!

I disagree with the wider heel statement. Maybe i have very strong ankles because i find my thin stilettos way easier to walk in, as i said before, the weight is at one point, in wider heels the load moves around and i find harder on my knees.
I agree on this point. When I have worn chunky/block heels I feel like I’m clopping along and not very fluid or graceful. My knees seem to take more of a beating. But I will say I also do not have a problem with weak or wobbly ankles.

That is great. Hope all goes well!

great look. Love the white and black contrast. Ladies should take a cue from you! Very classic yet modern looking, if that makes any sense...lol.
