  1. I keep a pair of neutral color cork wedges with exactly 5" heels under my car seat for just this purpose. Once in a while I'll change them to perhaps a 5" sandal with a stiletto heels or another pair of wedges. It really does relax one as you make your way to your destination.

  2. For Heels 4 Ever, I don't have any ballet heels but do like very high heels, 50% of my shoes are 6.5-8.5". The 8.5" in a size 12 US or larger is the highest readily available heel in the United States. I do know of one other shoe I'e thought about getting: a black wedge-heel platform sandal sold by crossdressusa.com it has a model number of 0457 I believe and has a 9" heel but is special order and NONRETRUNABLE so you'd really have to be at the store in NYC to get a good fit. I'd suggest either lapiazza-highheels.com or estresmodes.com both are custom shoemakers in Europe, the first is in Germany and the second in Spain. They both have extremely sexy shoes but those prices (and the European taxes) are quite high. But hey CAN make you a heel all the way to 16"!! Good luck.

  3. tallguyinheels, You're right about the Pierre Silber store, I visited that store in 2003 after touring Sequoia/Kings Canyon Nat'l Parks. Tried on some dressses and shoes, very helpful staff. Wore the minidress and platform sandals I'd bought later that night at Carla's, a place to go and get dressed and hangout then later we went out as a group to a restaurant and a club. Nice place! 4. Interest variety of responses. Bubba136 is astute pointing out it is wise to think about the consequences of hurting yourself while "out" wearing heels and not important the reason you were wearing them. I find that wedge heels, especially some are stylish enough to be worn from the car to a restaurant or even to a wedding. If you are going to a fetish or Halloween party and want to wear 7 or 8" platform sandals, wear a wedge or something stable, and once inside where the floor is level put on your "party" shoes. Wearing platforms on uneven pavement is asking for trouble, but wearing them on the party floor is devine!

  5. I shave every time I'm in the shower, I swear by the Venus razor. Have used Nair, and it does work as advertised, but has a nasty smell. I wonder if anyone here has tried the new exfoliating sponge that we've seen on TV lately?? Any information on that? My legs are starting to get tanned with regular wearing of shorts, mine are quite short, perfect for cutting grass or just throwing horseshoes in the yard. Throw on a pair of wedge heels and let the rays bounce off your polished toes and you see why girls are smilin' all summer!!

  6. Kneehighs, Just returned from a week in Peru. Business took me there but turned it into a vacation. Wonderful people, delicious food, and breathtaking scenery. Peru's Indian peoples appear conservative but are very peaceful and accepting of all others. I sometimes wore wedge sandals with fairly noticeable toe polish and clear polish on fingernails with no looks or problems at all. But nothing but very reliable tennis shoes when going up Machu Picchu! Wherever you're likely to go in South America you should enjoy it and will be welcomed everywhere whether in heels or not. Buen viaje!

  7. Hi AZShoeNut, Congrats on your first step outside in heels!! Those first ones are always the most exciting for sure and in time you'll want to do other things like maybe try some closed-toe wedges with girl's jeans and walk into a mall or something. On the other hand, a member like Jazzymj wears his platform heels in guy mode maybe with girl's jeans or something while out and about in NYC. I think over time nobody will really care what shoes you have on especially if more guys get out there and wear what they like. Nice shoe in your avatar, I always like that type of strap very feminine.

  8. Thanks Happy,

I always wear my heels in "guy" mode, long slacks and a shirt of some sort or another. Probably because I'm broad shouldered, big and athletic, I've never given much thought to complete cross-dressing just integrating footwear and other elements like leggings and catsuits into a masculine repertoire.

What else did you did wear with your 8.5inch heels?

    -MJ

    Hi Jazzymj!

Was away for a few days Up North and away from technology. The time I wore my Sunset Strip platform sandals with the 8.5" stiletto heels was to a Halloween party and I wore an ABS metallic gold v-neck minidress, my mid-length Zury brunette wigs with blonde highlights, a gold Seiko dress watch, 3" hoop earrings, acrylic nails painted a metallic red and matching toes, basic foundation and make-up, eyeshadow, and an ankle bracelet but then again it was a Halloween party, always THE event to show off your shoes and your clothes!

  9. Just watched the clip. The problem here, and I suspect some of you already know this, is they are assuming all the high heels are intended for women. As I wrote before, a surprising (only to the mainstream networks but not to us) percentage of higher heels in sizes 10 or higher are bought by or for men. Of course none of these mainstream TV news conglommerates will cover the story of men exercising their right to buy girl's shoes the way girls have exercised their freedom to buy guys' shoes. The ones that know for sure are the sales associates from places like Payless,Target and others not to mention all the Internet stores. I know some stores like Snaz75,ElectriqueBoutique,HowCool, and DimOutShoes have very large and established clienteles of men who love very high heels and it has nothing to do with the economy!!

  10. Hi Jazzymj! Am curious if you wear those 7-8" platforms in guy mode or as a girl or a mixture?? NYC is full of intersting people and stories and am curious what your experience has been. I also love that height of heel and last wore an 8.5" heel platform to a Halloween party. You're right about posture, when as a girl, I try my best to do it all; eat and sit like a girl, smoke like a girl, walk and carry things like a girl, and of course, praise others on their shoes and boots like a girl would.

  11. Radiodave, Noticed you purchase at Forever21 and was curious what that store was like. When I went to Bakers to pick up my "Carey" shoes I walked past a Forever21 store just a few doors away and saw some cute wedges from a distance. How were their sizes and their service?? I think we're all looking for new places to look for, try on, and buy heels. So far I have bought girl's shoe or boots in person (and in plain guy mode) at Target,SkyscraperHeels in Chicago, Bakers,Payless, and Maya's in Los Angeles when I was out there in 2003. Add to that a new place I just found, Mr. Shoe, in Milwaukee. It is great to find new places that are eager to engage ALL customers.

  12. It has happened depending on how the day ended; if in the mood and making the spouse happy, after coming home completely dressed then sure. Have fallen asleep with platform boots in the winter under a skirt to very comfy wedges or platform sandals with stiletto heels after a party or something. But 90% of the time it's just bare feet...but toes are always polished ;)

  13. Age:49 Location:Wisconsin, USA Occupation: Fed. Gov't Height: 5' 8.5" Weight: 195 Shoe Size: 11M Favorite heel style: Stiletto Favorite shoe style:Wedge Do you wear heels outside? Yes, have worn very high heels to some parties and lower wedges in malls, parks, etc. Favorite heel height: 5-6" Highest heel height: 8.5"/22cm How often do you wear favorite heel height? Nearly every day I drive or go to a mall, some restaurants. How often do you wear your highest heel height? Maybe in the bedroom or to a party that requires a shoe statement.

  14. hhdude159, I really encourage you to try shoes on in the store to be sure of the fit. It is very comforting when sales associates (mostly young women) encourage you on. Sure they're there to sell shoes but it's also nice to see people accept you as is. The key is confidence, if you walk better in heels than the others watching you, they will envy that skill and confidence.

  15. The highest-heeled shoe in my collection is a platform sandal by Sunset Strip put out in 2005 called "Laser". The platform and stiletto heel are clear and the top is irresedescent which makes the upper take on gold look. I actually wore them to a Halloween party with a gold minidress, an ankle bracelet, a Pierre Cardin dress watch, some nice large hoop earrings, and my mid-length wig and gold clutch purse. The heel, in size 12 anyway, measures 8.5" toe to tap. I had no problem walking or dancing in them and the girl sitting next to me wanted to try a dance or two in them! I have six or seven pairs around 8" but also have some sensible Target/Bakers wedges and heels 4-5".

  16. RonC, I surely am talking about Skyscraperheels located at 2202 West Belmont Ave, tow blocks west of Damen. From West/North exit Kennedy Expwy. at Kimball and make an immediate left at the Walgreens at Belmont and Kimball. Then go east on Belmont Ave. past Western Ave. to store on left. I usually park around corner on Leavitt. You can wear heels into the store, nobody will notice or care. You'll absolutely love it!!! HappyinHeels

  17. There is a middle option in the hosiery vs. bare-leg debate as it relates to a peep-toe or any type sandal where all or most of the toes are showing. You can buy OPEN-TOE pantyhose that have just enough room to slide your toes through exposing your favorite color of nail polish while giving your legs the smoother and darker look that pantyhose affords. The key is how wide the vamp of the shoe is above the toes which hides where the line between your exposed toes and the nylons. I'll use either open-toes nylons if I really want to accent my toes or nude color thigh highs that are very sheer toe until my legs get dark enough over the course of the summer. One way is to always wear shorts ( in my case short-shorts and smooth legs) when cutting the grass whether a riding or push mower. Never had any weird comments and a couple of good ones.

  18. While there are quite a few members of this community that might use this is a measure of "quality of life," in the larger "scheme" of things, men in heels is, perhaps the last concern modern civilization should be concerned with. There are so many more important issues that should be addressed before society deals with something so insignificant. I should imagine that "unemployment" in Great Britain, as well as other places, would command a higher priority, don't you think? After all, feeding one's family is by far more important than having the world approve of men wearing women's clothing -- don't ya think?

Yes, unemployment in Great Britain is quite high...but I don't live there. How countries deal with issues from wastewater treatment to taxation to national defense to dealing with those that would terrorize our world as well as things like racial and gender equality or just how much constitutional rights (GB doesn't have one) a country actually bestows upon its citizens all adds up to the quality of life of any given community. My point is nearly any society can move forward more effectively when it removes the mental obstacles from its path.

  19. Roniheels is exactly right. This is how I have discovered the extent of men buying high heels; by asking the employees or proprietors of the stores I may be in and I have found they are quite ready to share what they know. A store run by a friend of mine in Chicago which caters to the TG/CD crowd does better than 50% business with men who are buying shoes for men. Other stores such as Payless and Target seem to always have shoes in size 11 and sometimes 12, probably one in ten pairs of shoes sold at those store are intended for men. Then, of course there is the Internet. I have bought lingerie, pantyhose, high heels, dresses, and nail polish at Target or other stores and never had any reaction. You should try on shoes in the store or you can wait until the last 30 or so minutes of the business day when it is pretty empty if you are not so brave. Of course if enough people see guys trying on women's shoes it will become a routine sight not evoking any surprise at all. The bottom line is that money is gender neutral and so are the vsat majority of stores like these, they know there is another market out there...US!

  20. Ordered a shoe called "Carey", a black leather pump with a peep toe and a wrap around ankle strap set atop a natural wood platform with a 5.5" stiletto heel, and will pick them up at Baker's tomorrow after work. So, I made sure I redid my toes with fresh polish and clear overcoat because I want my feet to look their best. The manager told me that she has the "Angeline" which is the same shoe with notches cut into the sole which creates a zigzag effect. She wanted me to see them and complemented me on my choice. The shoes will go with a black mini-dress with tan trim and are definitely about the most eye-appealing shoes I have ever bought

  21. I am old enough to remember tattoos were only seen on guys and now women have fully embraced them. Earrings were never worn by guys then it changed to one earring among gay men which then became earrings on both ears for all kinds of men. Women once wore only dresses then slowly started wearing pants and jeans. Nail polish (clear or black) has become rather common on guys' fingernails and women in sweatshirts (especially in the Northern United States in winter) are everywhere. I think footwear is the last frontier. As others have said, confidence is in the gait...whether you decide to walk in tennis shoes or 5" wedges with freshly-painted toenails. This is when we find out the real quality of a community we live in.

  22. I used to not shoes in the store (except when going to Skyscraperheels in Chicago) but the other day I went to a store in Milwaukee that sells dancer shoes along with casual sandals and dress shoes and tried on four or five pairs while other customers came in and out of the store. Some stores like Payless,Target, and Bakers are exceptionally accomodating and carry quite a variety in larger sizes because they have discovered this "new market". When I ask various sales associates about men buying heels I find that it is very prevalent and increasing exponentially each year.
