  1. ALBA2000, Saw "Surrogates" last Friday the 25th and really liked the shoes that "Maggie" or Bruce Willis' surrogate wife had, looked like 6" stiletto heels for sure and of course the ankle wrap strap really drew me in, I have three pairs like that but I'd be curious to know who exactly supplied the shoes used in that movie. Great movie for heels though!!

  2. Like Roniheels the first time I wore extreme heels in public was indeed a rush. It was at a Halloween party four years ago sponsored by a shoe store no less. I wore a pair of gold translucent platform sandals with 8.5" stiletto heels, a gold metallic minidress, gold dress watch, a medium length wig, painted toes and nails, and a decent amount of makeup...incredible night. I totally understand how much time the girls put into their appearance. HappyinHeels

  3. Hi Partyshoes! I understand your fear, and possible confuson, about the desire to wear shoes "society" dictates are for women. But if this societal pressure were absolute then not one woman would now sport a tattoo or pants or cowboy boots or other things once reserved for men. For their part earrings, various forms of makeup, and black nail polish never would have been seen on men ANYWHERE but we now know that isn't true. The world does evolve some places faster than others. Don't overanalyze why you like girls' shoes, we all do, just confront the fact and make the most of it.If every man in every village, town, city, state, province, and country came from the closet and demanded the same fashion rights as women have then the entire world would come to accept men wearing feminine-style shoes as they have the other things. Sometimes it is better to blaze a trail with a supportive friend or sometimes you have to go it alone but you must assert yourself and do it confidently. Time and again we have read here of the experiences of many shy souls who finally asserted themselves and found out the world actually responds best to those who are the most confident. :):)

  4. Hi All!

Here's three shoes I got this summer, the first two links are for some DSW clearance sandals and the third (photo) is for some cork-covered wedge sandals I got at my friend's store in Chicago.

    http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?index=dsw11cat10037&prodId=187816brand=

second one is the same thing but =184892&brand=

I could get the picture to transfer over but it is on Skyscraperheels shoe page 2 in the middle of page under "Funo Wedges" the tan one on the left. 5" of pure comfortable bliss on your feet!

  5. Hi All, Like HiStiletto points out fit is determined by materials and toe design. A good friend of mine sells shoes in Chicago at a neighborhood shoe store called Skyscraperheels that is extremely GLBT-friendly so lots of heel-lovers in the Midwest will know the place. What I have gleaned from him over the years is that size can also differ from one brand to another or whether the shoe is US-made or not. Another thread talked about whether or not to try on heels in the store. I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying on any heels you buy in the store to ensure proper fit. This is what makes going to my friend's store so satisfying. Whether you go to Target, which always has shoes into the US11 range, or DSW, or Bakers, I always try them on. If ordering on the Internet you have to already be familiar with a certain brand and know what you're getting so you order with confidence knowing it will fit well. My ideal girl's size is US11 but have found a US12 better in some styles and, very recently, found that a US10 wedge sandal by Soda Shoes fit me OK. The other aspect to consider is by trying on shoes in stores, if you're seen then you're seen. Three things could and should come from this; 1-A salesperson sees you and makes a sale, 2-You, the ever-shy male consumer of women's shoes come out from the shadows and become the newly-liberated shopper and 3-The generla public comes to accept seeing men in heels.

  6. Happy Feat,

YES!! Bakers is a great store and I just sent Customer Service in St. Louis a second email detailing the great service at a second store I visited. On both occasions I tried on shoes in the store in front of the girls (and a few customers) and it was great. In that email I told Bakers staff that women do have feet bigger than size 10, that some of their customers weren't women at all, and that if they considered having some of their styles made in wider widths that the company would reap the certain benefits from it. I got a reply within 24 hours that stated they intend on bringing wider widths to the market in the near future. This could mean you might see such wider width shoes in the fall line or early in 2010 when the spring line debuts. So, writing companies and corporations as some have suggested, and as I knew some time ago being an avid stock buyer, does have an effect. And what we all want here is as many shoes in our size as possible!!

  7. johnnieheel,

Was hoping I'd see something from you, as you seem to have contributed greatly to the success of this forum. I'm getting the feel here that I should take the high road and boycott or tell others of my experience. The shop is here in the Midwest, I'd like to return in 6-8 weeks and see the fall inventory. I will browse like any sensible customer would and see what happens. I had an experience when I was very young that hardened my resolve against anyone who bullies. Much of what is wrong in the world has its origins in the bully. Bluntly put I detest bullies and I will not back down. Three years of high school football also told me that even a smaller guy can take a hell of a beating if his mind is solidly focused on the task at hand.Any time I face a confrontation, or one that could become one, I have found it better to listen and observe intently then gather facts and assemble them logically. As I said before, if the need arises I will address this in the business community. This guy was 6'4" and I'm 5'8" which might explain why I like heels :). Time will take care of things I'm sure but the last chapter hasn't been written yet. Words, when used efficiently, can slice like a sword or encourage one to strive to reach goals once thought impossible. I'll write more about this later and hope to keep hearing from our members since there has to be others who may have had an experience like this.

  8. Hi All!

This is my first thread attempt but I wanted to share this with others because it has stayed with me. About 2 months ago I was in a Bakers store and the girl there told me about another store that had all sorts of high heels. I went after work since the store was quite close. I was greeted by the owner and I told her it was my first time there but was looking for something different, perhaps a wedge or a platform shoe for myself and I quickly felt comfortable and tried a variety of shoes settling on a pair of Soda 5" wedges (dk brown bottom and black top) and paid only $23! Good experience.

I returned to this same store on 21 July to look around for more bargains and this time was greeted by the male half of ownership. I noticed all the Soda shoes in that style were gone but he showed one similar and I tried them on but they didn't fit quite the same. Since the first ones were a size 10 and fit weel enough I wanted to try on other size 10 shoes since there weren't any 11 or 12's displayed. A youn sales girl attended to me but I could see the owner walking by from time to time. He then approached me quite closely when she wasn't around and said "Are you going to buy something or are you just wasting time?" I said that I had trouble finding something that would fit. He then said, I have a no loitering policy here and I want you outta here." Did not ask that I leave he said "I want you outta here." Having a shield i my wallet and realizing why I was there and that this was his store I didn't want to make a scene (nobody else in store) and call undue attention to myself so I played it cool and left. I had seen a gay couple come in and banter between themselves and several women come and go and nobody boughtanything. Perhaps the day's gross was quite low and here I was more than a half hour later and I haven't yet committed to something. I was taken aback to say the least. This has got to be Business Rule #1--don't screw with the source of your income--your customers yet that's what he did. I thought his wife may have no idea of what he did. Since this is a family-run place ther is no corporat avenue of redress. I have decided that I will return in the fallto check out the fall selections and see if he or his wife greets me. If it is him and he does this again I will adress it in the business community. He did NOT say anything to meabout trying on girls' shoes, it was all about not spending, didn't say anything making a mess either. My question for anyone reading this is: did I take too long?? What would you have done?? I know how I'll approach it but wanted to get some replies from girls and guys alike.

    Thanks,

    HappyinHeels

  9. Went to Bakers last Thursday as I was feeling down and saw a cute pair of sandals with a stiletto heel. It was a size 10 and I was ponderng trying it on when a woman tried it on then another pair. When she tried it on a second time I knew it wa leaving the store. The girls in the store found the "Ava" at the Brookfield,WI store and I went over there.

Size 11 and on my feet they went! Another great experience at Bakers.

  10. Hi Teeza!

I've heard good things about elite heels, the other one I'd give serious consideration to is lapiazza-highheels.com and their site is laid out in English,German,Spanish and French. Boh these companies seemed to have the invested the money in the shoe last molds to turn out incredibly sexy shoes with incredible heel heights. Like others have pointed out though, the prices are steep: I got quotes on three different styles of platform sandals and the prices varied from US $470-520. lot of money but the shoes will be unique and to your specifications.

Good luck and tell us how it goes!

  11. SeattleShoes; Good thread. I was in Sam's Club recently and bought a pair of women's flared bottom size 16 long jeans and tried them out at home. I had worn one of my wife's size 17 regular jeans and liked them a lot. I tried the size 16 long jeans with some 5-6" wedge heels and such and the jeans pretty much cover the heels. I imagine you are wearing closed-toe shoes if you are concerned with a reaction. The size 16 lonf flared bottoms don't cover your toes but do cover nearly all of a 5-6" heel and are only about 1/2" above the floor which is what I typically see on women's feet. On the other hand, true fashion freedom means you should be able to wear the shoes you like and paint your toes at least a more subdued color WITHOUT any drama, that's something only you can figure what is best. Like you said, Las Vegas is a different place, anonymity and all about entertainment. My guess is you could wear a skirt and 6" heels and if you conduct yourself well and spend money in the casinos probably nothing at all will happen. Our money is green no matter who's wearing what. Have a great trip to Las Vegas!!

  12. I keep a pair of neutral color cork wedges with exactly 5" heels under my car seat for just this purpose. Once in a while I'll change them to perhaps a 5" sandal with a stiletto heels or another pair of wedges. It really does relax one as you make your way to your destination.

  13. For Heels 4 Ever, I don't have any ballet heels but do like very high heels, 50% of my shoes are 6.5-8.5". The 8.5" in a size 12 US or larger is the highest readily available heel in the United States. I do know of one other shoe I'e thought about getting: a black wedge-heel platform sandal sold by crossdressusa.com it has a model number of 0457 I believe and has a 9" heel but is special order and NONRETRUNABLE so you'd really have to be at the store in NYC to get a good fit. I'd suggest either lapiazza-highheels.com or estresmodes.com both are custom shoemakers in Europe, the first is in Germany and the second in Spain. They both have extremely sexy shoes but those prices (and the European taxes) are quite high. But hey CAN make you a heel all the way to 16"!! Good luck.

  14. tallguyinheels, You're right about the Pierre Silber store, I visited that store in 2003 after touring Sequoia/Kings Canyon Nat'l Parks. Tried on some dressses and shoes, very helpful staff. Wore the minidress and platform sandals I'd bought later that night at Carla's, a place to go and get dressed and hangout then later we went out as a group to a restaurant and a club. Nice place! 15. Interest variety of responses. Bubba136 is astute pointing out it is wise to think about the consequences of hurting yourself while "out" wearing heels and not important the reason you were wearing them. I find that wedge heels, especially some are stylish enough to be worn from the car to a restaurant or even to a wedding. If you are going to a fetish or Halloween party and want to wear 7 or 8" platform sandals, wear a wedge or something stable, and once inside where the floor is level put on your "party" shoes. Wearing platforms on uneven pavement is asking for trouble, but wearing them on the party floor is devine!

  16. I shave every time I'm in the shower, I swear by the Venus razor. Have used Nair, and it does work as advertised, but has a nasty smell. I wonder if anyone here has tried the new exfoliating sponge that we've seen on TV lately?? Any information on that? My legs are starting to get tanned with regular wearing of shorts, mine are quite short, perfect for cutting grass or just throwing horseshoes in the yard. Throw on a pair of wedge heels and let the rays bounce off your polished toes and you see why girls are smilin' all summer!!

  17. Kneehighs, Just returned from a week in Peru. Business took me there but turned it into a vacation. Wonderful people, delicious food, and breathtaking scenery. Peru's Indian peoples appear conservative but are very peaceful and accepting of all others. I sometimes wore wedge sandals with fairly noticeable toe polish and clear polish on fingernails with no looks or problems at all. But nothing but very reliable tennis shoes when going up Machu Picchu! Wherever you're likely to go in South America you should enjoy it and will be welcomed everywhere whether in heels or not. Buen viaje!

  18. Hi AZShoeNut, Congrats on your first step outside in heels!! Those first ones are always the most exciting for sure and in time you'll want to do other things like maybe try some closed-toe wedges with girl's jeans and walk into a mall or something. On the other hand, a member like Jazzymj wears his platform heels in guy mode maybe with girl's jeans or something while out and about in NYC. I think over time nobody will really care what shoes you have on especially if more guys get out there and wear what they like. Nice shoe in your avatar, I always like that type of strap very feminine.

  19. Thanks Happy,

I always wear my heels in "guy" mode, long slacks and a shirt of some sort or another. Probably because I'm broad shouldered, big and athletic, I've never given much thought to complete cross-dressing just integrating footwear and other elements like leggings and catsuits into a masculine repertoire.

What else did you did wear with your 8.5inch heels?

    -MJ

    Hi Jazzymj!

Was away for a few days Up North and away from technology. The time I wore my Sunset Strip platform sandals with the 8.5" stiletto heels was to a Halloween party and I wore an ABS metallic gold v-neck minidress, my mid-length Zury brunette wigs with blonde highlights, a gold Seiko dress watch, 3" hoop earrings, acrylic nails painted a metallic red and matching toes, basic foundation and make-up, eyeshadow, and an ankle bracelet but then again it was a Halloween party, always THE event to show off your shoes and your clothes!

  20. Just watched the clip. The problem here, and I suspect some of you already know this, is they are assuming all the high heels are intended for women. As I wrote before, a surprising (only to the mainstream networks but not to us) percentage of higher heels in sizes 10 or higher are bought by or for men. Of course none of these mainstream TV news conglommerates will cover the story of men exercising their right to buy girl's shoes the way girls have exercised their freedom to buy guys' shoes. The ones that know for sure are the sales associates from places like Payless,Target and others not to mention all the Internet stores. I know some stores like Snaz75,ElectriqueBoutique,HowCool, and DimOutShoes have very large and established clienteles of men who love very high heels and it has nothing to do with the economy!!

  21. Hi Jazzymj! Am curious if you wear those 7-8" platforms in guy mode or as a girl or a mixture?? NYC is full of intersting people and stories and am curious what your experience has been. I also love that height of heel and last wore an 8.5" heel platform to a Halloween party. You're right about posture, when as a girl, I try my best to do it all; eat and sit like a girl, smoke like a girl, walk and carry things like a girl, and of course, praise others on their shoes and boots like a girl would.
