  1. Don’t like it when a company makes a shoe which does fit me but it comes with an ankle strap 1-1.5” shorter than normal. It’s relevant if one has to perforate some extra holes in the strap. Don’t see a lot but it’s annoying. HinH

  2. Glad to hear the collective value of members’ heel-wearing experiences inspired you to take that first step outside. As I’ve said before, but it is worth repeating, the world is utterly neutral towards you but will look approvingly upon anyone who exudes confidence. Thanks for placing your trust in the community here. It validates the site. HinH

  3. Gige,

Looked this over and decided your “armchair fashionistas” are now fat and can’t master the look you now sport. They are not in the chain of command and the content of what they tell you is really not directly related to the job you’re all paid for. You could note they offered no comments before wearing more feline styles but I’d be inclined to record any interaction with them if you can manage it.  It’s one sure way of shutting down would-be troublemakers. These phones have a life of their own as a phone in a pocket or purse can start recording at any moment…theoretically. HinH

  4. Mlroseplant,

saw this post and it made me think about my shoes. Have only 8 pairs in Arizona which classify as such:

    4” or less= 0

    4-4.5”=0

    4.5”-5”=3

    5-6”=2

    6” or higher= 3

Back home in Wisconsin I don’t know the exact number but it’s above 175 pairs none of which are under 4”. The bulk are 5-6” and the most common style is the wedge sandal. I’ll have to get an accurate picture when we get back there. In the meantime we’ll enjoy sandal weather here in AZ. First stretch days of 90F(32C) are coming. HinH

  5. I’d bet it would be significant. “Here they are daily shoes I now lose, but once they did adorn, and now rest tired and worn.” Just a suggestion for such a place😊HinH

  6. Here’s my JS Danny sandals with skinny jeans, an AVA VIV top, and an MK bag. Casual but made great with the Dany sandals. IMG_7701.thumb.jpeg.1b8e6e697c0397e087547433eb099739.jpeg

  7. There was “Boot Hill” not too far from our house in Yuma and now there’s “Heel Hill”. A place where we honor our treasured, and seriously-worn, heeled footwear. Maybe they adorn a post in your yard? HinH

  8. Looking at the slanted angle of these heel wearers reminds me of those YouTube videos showing vehicles with wobbling or slanted tires. Invariably the dashcam then shows a tire flying off or the vehicle crashing into something. It just doesn’t look promising. HinH

  9. Mlroseplant,

Firstly I’ll echo others’ praise for your fine representation of men in heels. As ZZ Top said, you’re “a sharp-dressed man”.
As to fixing these heels and the length of the shank I have an analogy with knives.  I like to cook and have done it at home, in other people’s yards and in two restaurants. Knives are really important and you shouldn’t skimp on quality. So many knives are inexpensive but closer scrutiny shows handles made from something other than wood and the blade doesn’t go to the bottom of the handle. About 15 years ago I spent $650 for a complete set of knives which I still have. Cutco knives made in New York State not ordinary crap made in China. Many of the shoes we buy are mass-produced for the masses at reasonable prices. The surprise is that some last as long as they do. Probably more to do with care exercised by the wearer. Since you are a bit shorter than I a figure of 2800 steps per mile seems reasonable for you. 200miles is 560k steps divided by 11 gives 50-51k steps/yr. I then used a figure of 3500 steps per outing with heels on. That’s shopping, going grocery, clothes, hardware or just walking through some mall somewhere so that equates to some dozen outings for that pair of heels assuming only that you had them on the entire time. Honestly that’s outstanding for the price paid.

As to the shoes if you really really like them them have a pro fix them. If you had a certain car you really liked the have it completely overhauled. I did this in 1997 with an 1985 Grand Marquis had the most comfortable seats of any car I ever had. Sure, the cost of fixing the shoes will exceed the price paid but who cares. They are important to you so you need not justify anything to anyone else. I wish you the best whatever you decide. HinH

  10. I read with interest the points made about the recalcitrance of manufacturers to deviate from gender labels. I think it has a lot to with how efficiently the internet searches things. What many of us see if how women appropriate items from the men for their own use and the world just accepts it. Since women are 75% of clothing and shoe sales across North America , USA, Canada + Mexico, their influence is enormous. It makes whatever men are doing much less noticeable. There has been a blending of men’s and women’s fashion in practice but many companies still stick to their traditional labels I think because of the internet. HinH

  11. Looks like the pics posted in reverse order from my description so start at bottom and the descriptions will match. These are all casual or fairly casual looks with different heel styles. Another way to get out there and enjoy what you have. HinH

  12. hey all,

here’s four pics I retook to reduce file size which also reduced clarity.Top is the Devalyn sling back sandal with jeans and a tee shirt. Next is the Dany sandal with jeans and a colorful top. Third is mlroseplant inspired shorts look with  Soda wedge sandals. Last is an outfit I wore last summer to the Twin Cities jeans with some high wedge sandals. HinH

  13. Hey All,

These are the knee-high Emigdia boots I got when in Yuma last winter but didn’t post until now. They have a faux croc finish, side zipper, and a sassy 6.25”/15.8cm stiletto heel. Haven’t worn to any event yet but I imagine they would get looks. My wife likes how they look on me. HinH

  14. Cali,

The sling back strap has an expandable part instead of a clasp with perforations for adjustment. By my definition the size 10 is a proper fit as there is 1/4-1/2” room front and back. The elastic strap seems right on my right foot so I’m stretching it in the vamp area as well as wearing them a few hours each day. If you really want them consider going a size higher than your normal size. Once I’m satisfied with my adjustments then I’ll take Devalyn out shopping or something like that. Hope that helps. HinH

  15. IMG_6977.thumb.png.1b7a643accd393f92934e6b6c1849a7e.pngHere are the JS Devalyn sandals I said I’d post. They are size 10. Bought a shoe stretcher and used it several times. Wore them several hours a day to break in. Love the way they look. Have pics in jeans but have to resize them. I would think mlroseplant would like these.

Here’s the JS Devalyn sandal with jeans and a top for Christmas. You don’t have to do your toes but it’s more fun with shoes like this. HinH

Here’s the JS Dany sandal with some pvc pants. The sandal is the ganache color which is a chocolate brown. Size 10 and no stretching required. I’m wearing them barefoot with no fit issues. Very stable and will go with many outfits. HinH

  16. Part of the privilege of participating in this forum is getting the chance to enjoy some linguistic bliss from our United Kingdom members. A word like censorious just isn't used among ordinary people and the only place one might encounter it would be in print perhaps in an opinion piece or an online review of a particular venue. Nevertheless such words quench my thirst for more such descriptive morsels. A tip,of the hat, or the Stetson, to those who still speak the language as it was probably always intended. Remain calm and carry on. HJinH

  17. Hi All,

I just ordered the JS Devalyn sandal which is basically a slingback version of the very popular Dany sandal that has been around since at least 2010. It should arrive in AZ about the time I fly back by the end of this week. The Dany looks and feels great but takes a bit to put on. A slingback offers a much faster on and off experience. I have some new flare jeans as a Xmas gift which should pair well with these sandals. I hope to post some photos once I get them since I haven't posted in a while and don't know if it's gotten any easier than before. I know sizing was always an issue for me as my phone wants to make everything way too large a file. We'll see. Until then Heels Up!! HinH

  18. The common denominator here seems to be numerous members have gone about their business with basically no issues. People look, or look twice, but they have eyeballs which can't be controlled. "Show me your eyes and I'll show you my heels" could be a good-natured way of looking at it. There are probably as many not so open minded people in cities as there may be in rural areas but the recurring theme in all these stories is nobody is having any issues of any meaningful importance. Let's see here we have one instance of mlroseplant getting yelled at by a passing truck. I'll hazard a guess at a profile: low esteem, low IQ, and probably low probability of amounting to anything meaningful in this lifetime. People like this don't have the vocabulary, or the stones, to insult you standing still within arm's length. Just a part of the background I suppose. You are an idea my friend and "ideas are bulletproof" to quote Mr. Dantes. HinH

  19. Hi All,

Haven’t been on in a while. This topic was covered at some point but it’s always worth discussing anew. Whilst it is rare any one of us will actually see another man wearing obvious high heels, unless I happen to be in Iowa, it happens more often than you think. Some years ago I asked employees at a Steve Madden store in a Milwaukee mall this same question. Two employees, both women, said during the course of a shift they would see men wearing heels about 6-7 times. Granted this was in 2011-2012 when heels were higher but before the shift in opinion toward transgender men/women. This is only what they saw and far removed from places like NYC, LA, or other places where such a sight is more commonplace or expected. A follow-up question I’ve posed to various retailers was the number of heels being sold directly to men either in-store or online. What I gathered was of heels over 5” and in sizes 10 or larger some 15-20% in-store and 50% online were being purchased by men. This may explain the browsing interest by nonmembers. I have noticed things such as young men wearing nail polish or more obvious earrings or skinny jeans or even carrying handbags occurs all the time but many just don’t overtly react to it. The wedges mlroseplant saw me wearing have been in my closet since at least 2010 and other members here have seen me in them. I could walk past 100 or more people and most may not even notice. A small Iowa town has accepted mlroseplant and his heeled footwear as a normal part of the background. I think much of the world is also evolving. As for those timid souls waiting mass acceptance I would only offer this maxim: “be the change you want to see in the world”. Words of Gandhi
