  1. Since my wife lost her father over a year ago, she has become less accepting of my heels in recent times. As she is still grieving, she has become tired of seeing my high heel boots and doesn't want me wearing them in front of her. We recently moved to a new apartment, with me thinking that I would have more freedom since it is our own place. But she still doesn't want me wearing them in our new place. As a compromise, I only wear my high heel boots as I am leaving for work, just a little bit of heeling doing my morning errands, then changing into dress slacks and shoes. She might catch a glimpse of them as she is still half asleep, or hear me walking in them on my way out. I would go heeling on weekends with lunch and a movie. I find myself taking off my boots before entering our apartment to keep her at ease. I do believe in compromise, and my wife means more to me than my footwear. On a positive note, today she agreed to go heeling with me since she wanted me to drive her to a comic book store to buy baseball cards, another win-win situation. Today I wore my blue denim riding jeans and brown boots in my avatar. She was just happy to go shopping for baseball cards and look forward to baseball season. So I kick up my heels on our coffee table as I am waiting for her to be ready to go out. Nothing was said about my boots. Just like old times, we went shopping for baseball cards, then to lengthen our outing I took her out for lunch and a movie. It has been over a year since we went heeling at a movie theater. As we returned home, I quickly removed my boots, so as to reassure her that I am still compromising. It was a very nice Saturday afternoon that I will cherish as it is now quite rare. So I am optimistic that there will be a few outings now and then, but willing to compromise since I love my wife.

  2. I have gone out just a few times in my high heel boots. On Tuesday (New Years Day), went to a new church where nobody knows me, since we just moved. I took a side entrance for handicapped and senior citizens, I patiently waited while an older lady was holding the door for a senior citizen with a walker. I was hoping to help them hold the door. The lady was apologetic for holding up the doorway, which did not bother me in the least. I said it was okay, I was just hoping to draw less attention by entering in the side door. Then the older female explained to the the senior citizen, "I was just talking to the lady behind me". LOL I just love it when people see my boots and leather jacket and assume I am a lady. Doesn't bother me at all, if anything it seems to draw less attention if I can pass for a lady, then they forget about what I am wearing and move on.

  3. I once made the mistake of running off disheveled to class in college, since I was running extremely late. After class I met up with our student activities club. Our club president, she was dolled up with a mini skirt and gorgeous black suede pirate boots with about a 3 inch heel. Her overall look was dressy and stylish. I felt like a slug being right next to her. So I immediately cleaned up my act, next day made sure that I was well groomed and wore my favorite white dress shirt, bolo tie, nice blue jeans tucked into my tan cowboy boots. So I was going for an overall western look, and just had to stop by the student office she was working at the time, and greet her with a friendly hello. Since that moment I always make sure that I go out in public with a presentable look, no matter where I go. My current work position offers some flexibility with our dress code, but for the most part I make an effort to wear a business casual look, consisting of a dress shirt, trousers or Dockers, and comfortable dress shoes. I do give myself a casual Friday, since it is easier on my dry cleaning bill and a nice way to wind down a long work week. I would also make sure that my casual wear is presentable at work, no ragged clothes or holes in my jeans. When I go out on my boot outings and heeling adventures, I make sure that my other clothes go well with my boots. My overall look is a dress shirt or mock turtleneck, blue/black denim riding jeans tucked into my boots from my avatar, topped off with my slim black leather jacket. As said many times by our members, you should like what you see in the mirror and it should be presentable. Dress right for the occasion and dress for success.

  4. Kittyinboots,

Were they the boots in your avatar? Maybe she is a shoe person and couldn't help but notice. Not a real negative experience but something that may or will happen when we stand out from the crowd. I agree with your last statement of walking with your head up high and walk like you belong in your boots! Or heels.

Yes, I wore my brown high heel boots. Other than that it was a crowded building, everyone else pretty much kept to themselves since they were all thinking about getting there licenses.

  5. I've had a handful of negative experiences. Yesterday I went to update my drivers license, and the woman at the counter whispered to her co-worker, "Check out the boots on this guy as he walks in." And I was right in front of her. I remind myself that it goes with the territory. But that is why I am here, to read how other members handle those times. I like to think that the positive experiences will outweigh the bad ones. And I agree with our members, just stand tall with your head up high and walk like you belong in your boots.

  6. I am already doing jeans tucked into my boots, which is my only way of going out heeling. Most crowded place so far has been going to a movie theater during daytime hours. My next challenge is to go into a large crowded mall on a Saturday afternoon, assuming that there will be giggly teenagers ready to capture what they saw on their iPhones.

  7. Yesterday, I was feeling daring. After work I stopped by the mall wearing my blue denim riding jeans and brown high heel boots, topped off with a red dress shirt and black leather jacket. I stopped by one of the major department stores from their outside entrance, passing by the shoes and boots. I purchased a black dress shirt that goes well with my boots. The ladies who rang up my purchase saw my boots, didn't seem to think anything of it, I was simply another satisfied customer. I took another bold step by walking briefly in the mall area where all the smaller stores and kiosks and mall walkers are out and about. Everyone basically went about their own business. I felt very special walking with a higher level of confidence in my boots. Went up the elevator, and back to the main department store. As I walked back to the parking lot, I was browsing at the selection of tall high heel boots and looking at my boots in their mirrors. This was only my second mall outing in boots fully exposed. I was thinking that it would be less crowded before Thanksgiving. Someday I'll have the courage to go out on a busy Saturday afternoon.

  8. I've always enjoyed watching the Olympics. I love seeing "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat". Always enjoyed rooting for the underdog, or a Cinderella story. I would say that I am okay with countries using professional athletes. I quote John Stockton from 1992 USA Basketball Dream Team. If other countries can use their professional athletes, why can't we? I also like to see the host nation do well in the medal count.

  9. Definitely an outing every time I go out in boots. I wear my boots occasionally, weather permitting. Even if it is running simple errands I always make sure that everything that I wear with my boots goes together.

  10. For New Year's Eve we went to a 10:30pm show for the movie New Year's Eve, I silenced my phone to vibrate and set an alarm at midnight so I could ring out the new year kissing my wife. I wore my blue denim riding jeans and brown high heel boots in my avatar. There was a fairly crowded movie theater that night. I even spotted a few ladies in knee high stiletto boots, one lady in over the knee boots, and one lady in tall black thigh high boots. Needless to say I felt like I fit in with all these ladies in boots. After the movie was over we were one of the last ones left in the theater since it as was their last show that night. I felt very confident in my boots and thought it was a good way to start off a new year.

  11. Last night at the theatre we were showing "Puss In Boots". I have to admit I had a chuckle when Kitty Softpaws had stolen Puss' boots. Holding them up she said, "Isn't that an awful lot of heel for a guy?". The audience might have gotten a small chuckle as well, knowing me.

It does make me wonder as she was very accepting of Puss despite his taste in footwear.

Last Saturday we saw Puss In Boots in our usual movie theater. I would recommend it to our boot loving members. So Kittyinboots was in boots while watching Puss In Boots!

  12. Today was a good day to go heeling with my wife. She was just happy to be having an outing with me. We started our Saturday by getting an oil change and extra service for her cars. I usually never go in boots to get an oil change, but since it was chilly I was feeling daring. Then we went for a lunch at a local Burger King, then a movie at one of our favorite theatres. Then we stopped by a Panera Bread for a couple of sodas and a bowl of soup. No one paid too much attention to my boots, all in all a good outing. My courage and confidence in going to new places is growing.

  13. It just came naturally to me to wear high heel boots out in public. For the first five years of my heeling, I had just one pair of black knee high vintage 80s style boots (straight leg shaft) with a 4" heel. At first it was just a thrill to wear my black boots on at all behind closed doors in my bedroom, then progress to taking a few steps out into the living room and kitchen when no one is around. I made it even further by walking down the hall outside of our apartment to dispose of trash down a garbage chute. Then I took a big step by venturing out of the apartment at night when there is no one around, going out in small trips to remote areas. It was simple outings, like returning a tape rental to a local Blockbuster Video, ordering fast food from a drive through window, or going to a post office lobby after hours and mailing letters or buying stamps from a vending machine. I became even more daring by paying utility bills in person at my local cable company or auto insurance office during their last hour before closing. Since at that time of night, I would be all alone or one other person waiting in line.

For the most part I kept challenging myself to go further and go more in public. It was never enough to keep my boots indoors. In more recent years with my current boots from my avatar, I ventured out during early morning to pump gas, or drop off shirts at my local dry cleaners, or a quick purchase at a convenience store.

As of this last week, I made my most daring outings in boots in broad daylight with my wife by taking her to Starbucks, post office, crowded grocery stores, even the movie theater. So there is still room for more adventurous outings. But so far my wife is my only family member that knows about my boots.

So it came to me naturally but this web site has encouraged me to keep on heeling. As mentioned by other members, it takes time and practice. Take small steps at first, and over time your courage will increase.

After being a member of this site for over 3 years now, I finally took a brief walk through a mall. I wore my black denim riding jeans, similar to my blue riding jeans, and my brown high heel boots fully exposed. I figured since it was start of business day, there were not too many people in the mall since it was a weekday, and kids are in school. I walked through a main department store on route to a sports collectibles store. Asked a clerk about their items then went on my way. It was a brief 10 minute outing, but I walked with confidence in my boots. Thanks to our members at HHP for their inspiration.

  14. Today I was away from work taking a certification exam. I went to the exam site wearing a black turtleneck, jeans, black leather knee high boots with 2”block heels (worn outside my jeans, and a black leather jacket. After an hour and a half of plowing through an exam (I passed), I headed out to my car and swapped the knee high boots for my black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos and headed out to celebrate. Celebrate to too strong a word considering I was exhausted after the exam.

I know this is an old post from 2008, but this post gave me the idea to wear my boots during my IT certification exam today. Wore my jeans and brown boots from my avatar. No one at the exam site noticed or cared that I was wearing boots. I passed with plenty of room to spare. I celebrated with lunch and a movie with my wife. Later on stopped by a Panera Bread for a soda while Internet surfing. It was a very good day to take a test. Thanks for your inspiration TBG!

  15. Hope this works:

Was just web browsing and playing Where's Waldo online

    http://www.findwaldo.com/widget.html

While searching for Waldo at Department Store, not only did I find Waldo, but spotted two people trying on what appeared to be red stiletto thigh high cowboy boots, one of them was a man in a business suit, along with two other ladies with confused looks at the gentleman in red thigh high boots. I found it to be quite amusing, considering how some of our members might have had such a reaction in their daily lives. Might be worth a look. Now that is what I call "Thigh Boots in Public"!

  16. I just had a “more fun that ought to be allowed” shopping trip.

On the way back to the car I was walking towards the Tiquando marshal arts studio when I heard a loud “HAiiiiii”. I was expecting to see a guy but I saw two girls, one of whom had a very big mouth. I figured it was a gaggle of giggly girls and as I walked passed I heard giggles then “IS THAT A GUY IN A SKIRT… AND HEELS… OMG” (OMG… OMG ...the echo). I just kept walking.

    :)

As a Tae Kwon Do martial arts instructor, we encourage students to

"kiai" or yell, which serves many purposes. It helps to focus mental and spiritual energy, to scare your opponent or attacker, prepare the upper body for a blow because the air exhales, and it also helps to draw attention to your need for help.

Just my two cents worth, as we enjoy being out and about in heels, we should always watch out and avoid places that are not so safe, especially at night.

  17. At last I had my first sincere compliment by a female. Today I changed into my riding jeans and tall brown knee high boots from my avatar. I stopped by a Dollar Tree store on my way home from work. Bought a small box of light bulbs. There was this young Hispanic lady who rang me up and noticed my boots. "Oh I love your boots! Fierce." I muttered out a "thanks", but I felt very special in my boots today. It was a nice compliment that made my day.

  18. I have worn out my one and only pair of black thigh high boots, Ellie #8868, with 4 inch heels. Haven't worn thigh boots actively in years, but if a find a vintage pair that resembles my current 80's style knee high boots with jeans tucked in, I will buy a pair.

  19. Thought I would give boots in summer a try. Today I went to a country music concert to see Jason Aldean, Chris Young and Thompson Square, in Tinley Park, IL, USA. Lots of cowboy boots all around, it was about 80 degrees today, yet knowing that it would cool down to upper 60s at night, I figured it was cool enough to wear my tall black cowboy boots. As summer is winding down, heat and humidity went down as well here, making it an easier decision to wear boots in summer. Sigh, I wish I could wear boots in summer more often, but it was a great night to wear boots.
