I really wonder how frequent it is that a guy goes into a shoe store and tries on women's shoes.

It made me smile when I saw your comment.  It may not be that frequent, but I did it last Monday and came away with a lovely pair of sandals - see my post under "who has bought some new sandals."  The Marmi Shoes boutique in SoCal, the gals there were great!  I have been told by staff that there are a lot more guys going to a shoe store the buy ladies shoes than most folks realize.

  2. Well it IS summertime and summertime = sandal time.  This spring my favorite shoe store, Marmi Shoes had these sandals (called Milina) as a part if their spring collection.  I really liked the style but being "Mr. El Cheapo" and having wayyy to many heels already, I chose not to bow to temptation.  Well, last week, guess what?  Marmi had these wonderful sandals on sale and in my size (12), which surprised me since the larger sizes tend to sell out quickly.  I called my local Marmi store and they had them in stock!  I went to the store and tried on a pair of both the black and the tan (Carnaby).  I was expecting to come away with the black pair but the tan color looked great with my skin tone.  I liked the tan color and I don't have many tan heels anyway.  There is a slight sheen luster to the uppers that adds an elegant look.  They fit great, the chunky 2 1/2 in heel is stable and very walkable.  The sandals have a classy, simple but strappy look about them and will go well with a pair of jeans.

I have been out in them a few times, they are attractive, and comfy and fun to wear.  Yesterday I wore them for about 6 hours while running errands, had the shoes paired with a simple t-shirt dress from Old Navy and felt what I call the "3C's," Cool, Classy, and Comfortable on a hot summer day.

I expect to be wearing these wonderful sandals a lot this summer.  Here are some pics.

    Have fun....   smile...   sf

P.S. The polish is OPI "In Familiar Terra-Tori" if anyone is curious.  I really like that color.

  3. Very attractive sandals, have fun with them.  I don't get all philosophical when someone asks about my heels. Usually it's a compliment, and I just tell them thank you, it's something I do.  If the conversation goes further, I will oblige with further details, but most of the time the comment / compliment is merely to take note of that fact that I am wearing nice looking shoes.

As for folks reacting to or noticing my heels, when I first began wearing heels wayyy back in the 80's, I did get more comments from folks.  But for the past few years, it has been very rare to get a comment.  Maybe folks are getting used to seeing a guy in heels?  Not likely, since I sill have NEVER seen another guy in heels, or gals flats for that matter.  It's a lonely life - smile...  But I will handle the challenge..  sf

  4. Hidden Heels, Nice sandals, (don't hide them) but that is my preferred shoe style.  Glad that you had an enjoyable time out and about.  It can be fun and invigorating.  The hesitation and nervousness does go away with experience.  It just takes time, and experience.

Last Monday I visited my favorite shoe store to check out a sale they were having, and found a wonderful pair of sandals, even tho I do not need any more sandals, ha ha.  The shopping experience was great, the staff were great as well, just another customer shopping for ladies sandals, that happened to be a guy.

Enjoy your time out, have fun!  smile...   sf

  5. As with personal finances, it is good to be diversified.  When it comes to my gals shoes, they are as diverse as can be. Sandals, closed toe, heels, flats, you name it.  As for the flats, my most fav pair are “Tieks,” a wonderful - but pricy, all leather shoe that comes in many colors.  Very versatile, but simple and good looking.

I am unaware of the flat you spoke of, but take a look at Tieks. And stay diversified.

    Have fun...   sf

  6. Hi there.  You could have a trusted friend, spouse or other person film/photograph you as well.  My wife has taken pics of me (and us as a couple) in heels so we could grasp the overall look.

Another option would be attend an event where guys are wearing heels, something like a “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event (I wish they still had those - miss them) or similar.  Fun to attend and lots of pics being taken of everyone.

Good luck, enjoy your heels....   sf

  7. Mickey...   Size 15?  Difficult size to find, for sure.  Best of luck.  I have always been sympathetic to the guys who love gals shoes and sandals and have larger feet.

I have been attracted to gals shoes since I was a teen, and as I “grew up” wondered if I would someday grow out of wearing the shoes I “loved.” Fortunately, I stopped growing at a gals size 11, even tho I am tall.  I have always been very thankful that I can fit into most gals shoes and sandals, and can’t imagine the frustration you must sometimes feel.

Good luck finding something that you enjoy.  Smile....   sf

PS I have a few go to faves, but they only go to size 13..

  8. Hahaha.....   This is getting funny.  Wavy Gravy, the frisco “icon” from the glorious 60’s once said, “if you remember the 60’s you weren’t there man.”  I was at the tail end of that period and I do have memories, so I guess I wasn’t there, and that is fine with me.  Being drug addicted and unemployed wasn’t my bag.  However I did have long hair and some paisley shirts (still have a few - he he), and flared bell bottom pants that I wore all the time, along with my ever present gals flat sandals.  Had not been bitten by the hh bug till later.

The 60’s and 70’s, interesting times indeed....  smile

  9. I do not wear shorts with heels simply because I just don’t like shorts, I just don’t.  When I go running I wear shorts (duh) but anytime else it’s pants. My wife says I have nice legs and has been axing me for years why I don’t wear shorts.  Over the 4th weekend we had friends visiting and both axed why do I not wear shorts.  I just don’t care for them, and never considered myself a fashion plate.

Pants that are short that “expose” more of my heels yes, but shorts, no.  It’s a choice.

I just ain’t no fun.  Smile...    sf

  10. Well, testing the waters a bit.  Below in red  is a “revised” version of a post I made here a few days ago, and the post was “hidden,” due to content I imagine.  Not to be controversial in any way, since I believe I have good reputation here, but here goes the revised post.  Guess which word(s) I left out - well maybe it’s better you don’t guess.  haha

Please no warning points, no mal intent intended.

It is quite the conundrum indeed.  I can make the argument (as have some of my friends) that if I wear gals sandals, that makes me a xxxxxdresser since I am wearing women's clothing, i.e. shoes.

I wear gals shoes, and sometimes pants, because I like the look and style, but I do not consider myself a "you-know-what dresser" per-se, OK maybe a "little" bit.  ha ha....

    Have fun...  sf

Gonna mash down the submit button and see what happens...

    smile.....   sf

  11. Jeans and heels, love it.  I have always been a "jeans" kinda guy.  When I was bitten by the high heel bug, about 30 years ago, I was a bit hesitant (shy) to be out and about in heels.  So like many of us I wore long pants to cover the shoes so I could enjoy being out in heels with minimal attraction, especially since that was not my purpose anyway.

As time has gone by, I have become much more confident in being out in heels and the length of my pants has gotten shorter, exposing more of the shoes.

I still mostly wear "guys" pants, all styles, with my heels.  Over the years I had heard about gals jeans, being comfortable (stretchy) and fitting nicely.  Several years ago, I was going through some drawers and found a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans, size 12 regular length, that were my wife's but she no longer wears that style.  I tried them on and they fit!  And they were "stretchy," looked nice and were comfortable.  So, with her "reluctant" permission, I commandeered them - she eventually relinquished and now they are mine.  ha ha

But she is a short gal and so were the pants, being regular length.  Not capri length, but definitely short.  When I put on my heels, the entire shoe, and some of my ankle was exposed.  I went with it and really liked the look.  A few people have commented about my pants looking fine, and I usually tell them that they are in fact gals pants.  My wife calls them my "Glorias."

However the pants are short.  For the times when I want a longer pant, I now have several pair of GV Amanda jeans (size 12 tall) that are longer and aside from the GV logo (note the right pocket in photo) look like a regular pair of jeans.  I have a 32-34 inch waist depending on the pants.

I do not wear the GV's exclusively, I mix them up with my other guy jeans and cargo pants.  But overall, I do find the gals jeans to be more comfortable, since the material is a bit more flexible and the cut is slightly more relaxed.

Here is a cropped pic of me wearing the "Glorias," short length, with one of my favorite pair of VanEli kitten heeled sandals.

Yes, wearing jeans and heels is fun!  smile...   sf

  12. These heels are not my style, but refreshing to see nonetheless.  Maybe things ARE changing.  I am tired of being a "pioneer" and taking all the arrows.  ha ha

    smile....   sf

Update:  Just looked at the ASOS site, they have several pair of "mens" shoes / sandals that could easily be on the gals side.  Encouraging to see.  I am still however waiting to see another guy here is SoCal wearing heels.  Have fun...   sf
