  1. Yes, the 70's. It was not uncommon for guys to wear 4" heels, or open-back clogs, but then the whole concept went the way of hula hoops. Coming here has given me the impotice to get the styles I like, and wear them, even if I have to shop on the non-guys' side at Kohl's. I said, "why not?" If this style was o.k. for me when I was 21, why not re-live it now, especially when people seem to think that I am younger than I really am. I've never smoked, and, as a result don't have the wrinkles that it can bring. I don't have gray hair, because I don't have any hair. Thank-you, Headblade. My favorites are still HH clogs. I've tried pumps, and although I like the way they look and feel, they always seem a little loose. What do you others find to be the case with pumps, in terms of fit? My daily non-HH wear is Bastad open-back clogs, which I would never give up.:o

  2. When you pull the pad off and it smells like stuff your intestines should have taken care of, it aint psychosomatic. Would like to find them some other place than Wallgreen. Their profit margin is too high. I like homeopathic medicine, which includes castor oil, topically applied. Tried to buy a bottle of same last nite. They wanted $4.50. I told them to keep it. Local discount store charges $1.99 for same. I'll buy the pads, but elsewhere from now on.

  3. Yes, but activated charcoal is inert. What I have found is stuff that I'm glad to be rid of. I put a pad on my slightly-arthritic knee last nite, and today the knee feels better. Applied it to back side of knee with an Ace bandage. I'm a fan of Edgar Cayce-type medicine, and, to me, this fits right in. Not a big fan of conventional medicine.

  4. Kinoki foot pads...ever hear of them? They are not just for the benefit of your feet... They benefit your whole system. Slap 'em on at bedtime. Unless you are extremely healthy, you will find out that they leach a lot of bad junk out of your system by morning. I have no financial interest in them, but they have helped me a lot. Available at Walgreen Drug, and on-line.

  5. Well, here I go again, having learned of a possible meeting, here in N.E. Ohio. Canton is a bit far, but in spite of gas at 4 bux a gallon, I'd be willing to give it a try. I'm old (51) but proudly wear my 3" spike boots with pointy toes. I could not have pulled this off a few years ago when I was ultra-chubby. I'm now simply slightly chubby, in part due to this website that has encouraged me to be myself. Would like to know where and when you will be meeting. (Belden Village? Where?) :o Thanx to gwl1 for advising me of this event. What time and where should I be? Bastad clogs are my daily wear, but when the mood strikes me, hh pumps, hh boots, or hh clogs reighn supreme. Nice website. Sabotalot

  6. Speaking of appointments, this past winter I went to the dentist in my HH open-back clogs. I think it helped reduce the discomfort that can be experienced there.:o

  7. I'm of the heterosexual persuasion, but am fascinated by clothing and what it can do to our emotions. I have gone shopping while wearing a skirt and high-heel boots, exactly 5 times. It felt good and I had no negative feedback, but I've deceided to restrict myself to shoes. Really sexy shoes. I like pumps and high-heel clogs. Spike-heeled boots that reach the knee are cool, too. I have religious faith, but feel that what I am doing is part of life's experience.

  8. For those of you who like the sound of clogs, wait until the rubber/plastic pads on the bottom start to come loose; pull the pads all the way off; the klunking sound that they make in that form is kinda like music! (to me, anyway).

  9. That's why I like PAYLESS. If you are persistant, you can find 13's and some of them are stylish. You have to be persistant even to find nice 11's (my usual) or 12's (my sometimes). I got 4 pairs of nice side-zipped knee-high boots from there (2 pairs with 3" spikes and VERY pointy up front, 2 pairs with 4" block heels). These were 12's.

  10. The ladies have a thread on the problems that flip flops present, but this is a more universal topic. Some years ago I saw a girl on a bicycle wearing them; as she pushed on the pedals, they arched downward and caught her foot in the bicycle chain. I was driving and stopped to help; as I did so others stopped to help, too. This was just before cell phones were common. They are fine for the beach and shower, but are not exactly protective.

  11. Unless the weather is really bad, I try to HH at least 5 times a week. I find that my best style is hh clogs (see JMC's avatar), 4 to 4.5 inches. I look forward to it. If I want spikes, I will wear boots with spikes. Pumps are o.k., but no matter what size I try, still seem a little loose. Wore pumps to drop off and pick up my computer for repair, but felt a little like I was climbing a steep hill.

  12. Nope, never have here. For whatever reason, I love wooden soled shoes (clogs, heels with wood soles, etc) but have never really liked traditional Dutch wooden shoes. High heeled wooden clogs and sandals are the best, but for "normal" wear, I love my Danskos and Bastad clogs.

Brian May (of Queen) likes regular clogs, too. He sometime donates his used ones to charity, where they get auctioned on ebay.

Of all the restaurants that might offer a $200 truffle-laden burger on their menu Burger King is probably one of the last ones, if not the last one, that comes to mind. But believe it or not Burger King has launched a $200 hamburger called simply "The Burger" that features Wagyu beef, white truffles, Pata Negra ham slices, Cristal onion straws, Modena balsamic vinegar, lambs lettuce, pink Himalayan rock salt, organic white wine, and shallot-infused mayonnaise all served up on an Iranian saffron and white truffle dusted bun.

That's quite a list of ingredients.

"The Burger" will be on sale once per week in London and proceeds go to benefit the Help a London Child charity.

The Next Heel Meet Must Be Planned Accordingly.

Kneehighs is Buying for all who wear Heels to Burger King

I have found a chain of fast-food restaurants here in the U.S. that offer above-average fare, called "Five Guys". They serve only domestic beef, never frozen. Yes, they serve only hamburgers and hot dogs; and no, I don't want to survive only on fast-food, but cannot stand half-fast food; Mickey D's, please take notice.
  14. I haven't posted in a few days, but at the risk of repeating myself, let me say that I like clogs. I haven't worn regular "shoes" in years, except for my Mary-Janes, Stiletto boots, and pumps. I like Bastads the best, and with a nearly 3" heel, they almost qualify as HH.

  15. I have long had a liking for slightly outlandish footwear, from my first pair of guy's platforms years ago, to my recent acquisition of hh clogs from Kohl's ladies' dept. I guess that it's our desire to be slightly exhibitionistic that gives us the impotice to be involved. Easy does it. Friend of Bill's. Any other friends of Bill out there?
