conservative doesn't figure in my high heel wearing adventures!  as a lady once said to me, when she saw me in my white high heels and super showy jeans:  anything worth doing is worth over doing!

    Well, you have that covered!

  2. W6ish, you know I am around and enjoy reading you posts here and your blog.

I might venture out in heals at some point, but I will surely be a bit conservative compared to your choice of heels and jeans!

  3. I agree, but still disappointing. I would hope there would be at least one store in our city with a decent selection.

I live in an urban area of around 250,000 people and DSW had the best selection. The next choice is Macys but DSW has a better selection with the reduced inventory.

  4. I agree with women not wearing heels as much.

I walked into DSW  the other day and was shocked to see what they have done. Even my wife was crestfallen. Before they had two or three isles of heels. Now just 1/2 of an isle the rest was replaced with athletic shoes. I immediately dropped the company an e-mail and let them know that we were probably done shopping with them as we loved their selection of heels and can buy trainers anywhere.

  5. The only person not wearing athletic shoes!

Well, maybe not the only one.

This picture points out how relaxed we have become with clothing over the years. When I  was very young my mom would show up for something like this dressed well, maybe a nice top and dress pants and low heels. She wouldn't let me near the church unless I also was appropriately dressed. To this day athletic shoes are for putzing around home or going for a walk. Out shopping I still tend to dress up a bit, perhaps just nice jeans, nice button up shirt and nicer shoes, perhaps a pair of block heel booties.

  6. I like seeing pics too,  as long as they are on topic.

As far as not seeing the other genders section that is probably happening already. The women left and are on a forum elsewhere! Plus, it is probably  difficult to sort the sections by gender, although some sites require a member to ask for access for sections of the forum.

One downside is some of us like reading the women's forum, even though we can't or shouldn't  post there. I have responded to posts on the women's forum by PM'ing a woman there and making sure to let me knew if she has an issue with my PM'ing her and I wouldn't  do it again, and letting her know my opinion on some discussion.  She did post my thoughts on the women's form.

Besides, I would bet most members here really enjoy reading of his adventures even though they are slightly outside of this site’s posting rules.  But, we are not in charge and have no say about it.

I haven't been here that long, wow, longer than I thought 2012! Anyway I started out reading Jeff's thread, but tired of it quickly. I am here for the high heels and have zero interest in posts on clothing. I bet I haven't read a bit of Jeff's thread in 3-4 years. I might open it, just to clear it out of my read threads.

Rules are rules, and we need to follow them or the next thing you knw the main topic gets lost talking politics or religion. I belong to another sight that says no politics. The owners of the group let up wander there once in a while, but as soon as the conversation gets a bit heated it goes away, which isn't long!

  8. Locking Jeff's thread has caused quite a stir! I don't understand why some get so bent out of shape about it. Help me to understand! I for one saw Jeff's thread as being "off topic" and understand why it got locked. This is a place to discuss high heels, anything else is off topic, although there is some venturing off allowed as long as we get back to the topic.

If you want to dress up as a women, there are plenty of sites for that, I belong to a couple. I could post here every week pics of me in high heels and dresses, but I don't.

Second, on a more specific forum note, locking up JeffB's thread was the straw that broke the camels back for me.  Locking up Thighbootguy's thread set the stage.  Cancel Culture times two, literally.  In 2006, hhplace's landing page used to say, "Whether you're a man, a woman, or in between, whether you wear high heels yourself or just like the looks of them.  It doesn't matter, you've come to the right place".  How times have changed.

Where has that changed? You can still post and talk about high heels. This is not a crossdresser forum, so the line gets drawn.

Maybe Tech should just drop all the rules and let us post what ever we want?

I forget what happened with Thighbootguy, but seems to me he crossed the line and didn't like it so he is gone.

  10. A few years ago I bought a pair of platform heels, put them on, took two steps and they came apart in the arch/shank. Sent them back and ordered a second pair. I wore them a couple times and they came apart too. I really liked them, so out to the shop! I carefully pulled back the inner sole and saw where the heel and arch was nailed to the platform, yup, just a couple nails to carry a 180 pound guy. I pulled the nails and ran in a couple screws and they have held up fine. I bought a similar pair of the same brand and they had the same issue, repaired them too. My wife has a matching pair but hers have held up fine. I wonder if it is the way I walk, or maybe just the weight difference, she is a whole 100 pounds.

  11. My local DSW has a fair selection of heels, best in the area. Locally, my only other choices are Macy's Pennys, Kohls and a couple other chain stores. None of them is close to DSW.

I wonder if DSW stocks stores for what sells for that area. I have been n other DSW stores and their inventory will differ from my local store quite a bit.

  12. I agree, I generally avoid sandals with a single narrow strap over the toes. Wide straps, or multiple straps are much more comfortable, or wearing hosiery with the sandals helps. That little toe can be a problem. I did buy a pair of sandals this summer with multiple straps, Jessica Simpson Zetta. I have to "watch" the toes straps, but they were only $15 so I couldn't pass them up!

  13. The foot steps crunching in the gravel reminded me...

Years ago my wife and I were out visiting. It was late and we knew of a dead end farm road that went back along a river and decided to go back there before heading home for a bit of fun. We got there, laid out a blanket in the grass, (it was mowed, someone keeps the area in shape), and were just getting "warmed up" and unbuttoned then we heard this loud snarl, like from a mountain lion, and we do have them in the area. My wife leapt to her feet and was in the car in a fraction of a second, I am not sure her feet even touched the ground. I grabbed the blanket and tossed it in the car and we left. Any "fun" was over for the evening.

The equipment was de-energized. Although somebody did have to wear the arc flash suit to check with a voltage meter to make sure it WAS, in fact, de-energized. Newer best practices basically don't let us work on anything energized anymore.

Yes, we followed proper lockout/tagout procedures, which in that place is a little more complicated than it sounds. It's a pain in the neck, but I do not miss the days when we were expected to work everything live. Some of the rules are silly, but you'll have that on these big jobs.

I worked as a HVAC tech for years. We had to shut down variable frequency drives, (VFD), on an air handler to chance settings  in each VFD. It was in a hospital and they would not let us shut the unit down as it was for a critical area. The unit had multiple motors and multiple VFD's, 480 volt, 3 phase power. I pulled the fuses  the unit running, one motor at a time, (pulling one fuse would trip the VFD out on phase loss, but it would stay powered up so we could change the programming), reprogrammed the VFD and put the fuse back in. I wore an arc flash glove, and stood off to the side. I was standing there, ready to pop the fuse back in and one of the maintenance guys from the hospital came up and stood right in front of the panel. I stopped and asked him what he was doing and if he had ever seen or heard of arc flash. His brain kicked in and he walked away. It all went without a hitch, but it was a but nerve racking!
