  1. There was another instance where an atomic bomb was released of the coast of the state of Georgia, USA. The bomb was released because of some problem with the airplane and it was never recovered. In recent years people have searched for it but it is believed to be burried under several feet of silt and is very difficult to locate even with modern equipment.

  2. I really, REALLY, don't understand the obsession with designer heels. Not only do they design ugly shoes, $3000 just because some dude put his name on it? Madness! IMHO nothing on this planet is worth that much more because somebody put their name on it.

You forget that there is a lot of people that have seemingly unlimited amouts of money. $3000 for a pair of shoes is nothing if you have millions in the bank, or at the very least have a good income. Plus, how often do you think that in Los Vegas someone hits it rich and blows the cash on something they would not normally buy, like a pair of Louboutins. I personally know a gal that flys to Europe on their private jet to just go shopping. $3,000 for shoes? Chump change! What does it cost to operate a Lear jet round trip from the USA to Europe? Lots more than I have in the bank!

  3. In the area I live in it is rare to see women wearing heels, no chance you will see a guy wearing heels except for the one or two that show up at the shopping mall in full women's wear. Pretty conservative, and sort of " back woods" around here. In a group I casually made a comment about men wearing heels and pretty much everyone figured that a guy wearing heels had to be gay, and even when I made a comment that it was hetero, married men people still would not believe it.

  4. I really liked the style and miss it. The huge bell bottoms I can do without, but the hip huggers, heels and plats I like.

I have bought a few pair of womans jeans, low wasit, like the 70's hip huggers. I wear them out some, but wish designers would morph men's and women's styles. I hate the tiny pockets on women's jeans. I like the lycra and low waist of the women's and the pockets of the men's styles. Try find a decent fitting pair of men's jeans is impossible. Even with 1% lycra they are baggy.

  5. In the mid '70's I had a pair of shoes with a 1 1/2" platform and 3" heel. I wore them with my hip hugger bell bottoms and my "silk" shirts. Everyone was wearing them.

  6. I bought a pair similar to these for my wife. Hers were more orange in color with black laces and cute "vibram" soles. She has had women about go nuts when they see the boots. We were standing in line at a restaurant and a gal came running up, pulled up my wife's pant leg and was just gushing "I love you shoes!" and then she brought over a friend to see her boots to. It was quite hilarious at the time.

  7. Speaking of jeans, anyone know of any men's jeans, boot cut with some decent stretch, Lycra blend? I have a couple pairs of women's I like, but women's jeans have tiny pockets and I want men's style pockets!

  8. I have a ten year old HP desktop, not sure what is under the hood as it don't make much difference for web browsing. I also have a Asus laptop, same specs, no clue! As computers have gotten faster about anything works fast enough for my use. I don't game or do any high power usage so these days a brick with a keyboard and monitor is good enough!

  9. One thing is theory (or law) and an other thing is real life.

If you try to make your boss miserable, the boss may have something in store for you too. Specially in a time

that jobs are harder to get than employees.

At all times, try to think things through to the end before you antagonize people.

(not trying to antagonize anybody with this post....)

    Y.

Exactly, learn what battles are wrth fighting.

Some states are "right to work" states. You can be let go without reason. Mess with the boss, push some issue, (high heels in this instance), and you might be out of a job without any reason given, and no reason needed. "Sorry, we just don't need your services any longer", and nothing you can do about it.

  10. No roofs for me. I ( supposedly ) just do walls and floors. I do very minimal carpentry and masonry work. I know quite a few plumbers and electricians so.. I stick with what I know ;)

Where in the States are you from?

Midwest. About 150 miles south of Canadian border. I prefer to keep some anonymity.

  11. Don't be silly Amanda. You are more than welcome here.

I do have to agree with you the harder the heel tip the better. Sometimes the heel is the only grip you can get in a high heel. One just learns to "set" the heel with each step on snowy and icy surfaces.

Here in this part of the world, winter driving skills are essential for keeping one's job. I myself drive a 4 wheel drive pickup truck but that was not always the case. I've never used snow tires or studded snow tires, just regular all season tires.

4 wheel drive vehicles are only slightly less efficient than 2 wheel drive ones. Many of us need to drive in very bad weather, even before road crews have had a chance to clear the roads.

I drive a four wheel drive for my work truck and put on many miles a week. Some of us drive a large vehicle because we need to. Try load 1,000 pounds in the back of a Prius! Even so I would have a four wheel drive vehicle. Living in the snow belt they are not nessassary, but sure are nice to have when the weather gets bad, My wife has acted as a taxi and hauled people to work when they could not get on the roads with thier little front wheel drive cars.

Amanda, I do agree, as far as I am concerned you are welcome to drop in and post here too.

  12. Well its update time. The date in general was a total success. I went to meet her at 8:30pm est and we were so into the conversation and getting to know each other that our date didn't end until about 6:00am ! a nearly ten hour date holy smokes.

The first date with my wife was much like that, minus the heels. We met at about 8PM, and talked nonstop until 3AM when we said our good nights under extreme duress as we both had plans in the morning we could not miss. I am sure it would have went on for several more hours if other stuff had not gotten in the way. That was many years ago and we still talk all night. Hopefully things work out as well for you!
