  1. It's a line from the old movies when a woman was about to deliver a baby. They always said to rip up some sheets and boil some water. Maybe to sterilize someting?

You need boiling water because babies are fearsome tea drinkers lol

  2. Hi everyone, We had an Irish band playing at the club tonight. They were good. I danced the bejaysus out of it. My knees will hurt tomorrow. I wore my Indian cotton dress, which is blue and a pattern printed in other shades of blue. It's not very shapely, but I have a jacket which is like a classic jean jacket, only black leather instead of denim. With the jacket the dress looks like a wonderfully full skirt. I wore my cowboy boots too. I got so hot, and in the end I remembered Sharon and went into the toilets (bathroom, restroom for our colonial cousins) and poured a glass of water into each boot.Such a relief. And then I took my boots off in the taxi and when we got home I walked up the wet path in my tights.

  3. In what way does a blue blob do the job of a wagging finger? I can put so much meaning into a finger wag(Of course the truly skilled can do it without anything visual. Did you feel it? !!!) OK, When I'm made (allowed) to feel good about myself I sleep well. You've earned yourself a good nights sleep for making my llife easier

  4. Picking the right software is a skill in itself. Anyway, here, when I click in the wrong place I get something unexpected but nice (that's how I learnt to send a PM, and that made my day) Elsewhere I get grey things telling me gibberish ('unhandled runtime error exception', or something like) finger wagging ('bad request' makes me feel ashamed) or the slightly frightening 'Are you sure...?' Now, my experience of 'Are you sure' is that someone's about to take all my pieces off the board, or lay a card which means I've just lost all my money. It's another way of saying 'Do you think that's wise?' And this is supposed to be 'user friendly'? Anyway, Tech, the software doesn't do it all, I'm sure. And I like being somewhere that doesn't set out to make me feel like an idiot. Please accept my thanks for whatever part you played in that (wagging finger) (cOMPLAINT: There isn't an emoticon for wagging finger. Could we have one?)

  5. Life, along with whatever shoes you wear, changes the shape of your feet. Next time you're out count the girls you see in ballet pumps or uggs (or cheaper equivalents) who are pigeon toed or who's ankles are turning in. If you are aware of yourself and look after yourself you'll be ok. It's not shoes that damage feet, it's how and when they're worn. (Oh dear, now I sound like the NRA, or maybe NHA more like.) Seriously, though, I know drivers whose big toe won't touch the ground any more because of using the pedal. Life shapes us.

  6. Yes, our pavements are terrible. But worse, they are mostly slick with... Well I don't like to mention it. And that could be solved with someone with a broom and a shovel. Would go a way to solving the recession too.

  7. Then thank you, Tech. It never makes me want to throw the computer out of the window! And many do. Feel free to put that on your CV. Shafted, you do know, don't you, that you just said to me, 'go to USER CP>Customize profile and you can blah de bloo de whip if you feel so inclined'? Is that any way for a New England gentleman to talk to a lady?

  8. Congrats in order? Heels may go by the by, and maybe not. May find their way on to your head lol. My husband at the time hid the knives once. But then all of a sudden nothing else matters. Sorry, didn't notice it was a link. Feel a bit silly, and I don't even have baby brain to blame.

  9. I don't know if this is the right place, but I can't find any better, and I don't know if this is hopelessly out of date or what. Anyway, just wanted to say how easy I find this site to use and to thank the designers. I've only had a computer for three months, but so many of the sites I've looked at were obviously designed without the human being considered. But really I wanted to say, when I log in and get the blue thing telling me I've got a new message I get the same thrill as when I look downstairs and see a handwritten letter amongst the post. I want to wait until I've made a coffee before I open it. So my only quibble. What a shame the thing that asks me if I'm sure I want to log out is blue too. I get a momentary thrill and then...

  10. Hi Sangue, The boots look lovely. Aren't you going to miss the snow on your toes, though lol? I love the sound of the socks too. Do they come in other colours too? But I suppose that's not appropriate for work. I'm fond of my opaque tights, but sometimes I'll wear coloured socks over the top, especially when I feel like stripes. Regards, Megan x

  11. Hi Kirlo, and welcome. I spent happy time in Mexico with you lovely friendly people. Soy Tapatia honrosa, me gusta creer. Lots of men in Guadalajara wore heeled boots (well, ok, only a couple of inches, and in a very macho way), but maybe it's a start. Hope you enjoy it here.

  12. Megan, thanks for re-posting the link, this time it worked. I had a look at them, and for your - if you don't mind me saying - 'funky and hippie' style of dress I can certainly say they're very you :wavey: they're just the kind of thing I can picture you wearing. I have some wedge-heeled boots with 3" and 4" wedges, but mine don't have the platforms and are full-length knee boots in plain colours like classic black and dark brown etc.

    Hi Sharon,

Of course I don't mind. I think you have a pretty fair handle on me. I imagine if we were out together I'd run the risk of cramping your style if I didn't keep a low profile. I picture you looking very North European, if you know what I mean. I could see you and Heidi out on the town knocking them dead, like a pair of sisters, one wet one dry.

    Regards, Megan x
