The problem is that we live in a world where everyone expects to have a trade surplus. So, for example, we end up with a British policy towards China that says, 'We need you to sell us your goods cheaply so that we can sell our services to you expensively.' Hm, something of the perpetual motion machine in there.

Yes, Steve, this has been discussed in some detail elsewhere. I was too dense to work how to change mine in time. I'm sure it'll work out in the end.

HHeeler, I largely agree with you. Of course I was socialised as a girl, I can't help that. But I was brought up to be tolerant too. What I like is in some way part of how I was socialised. But I don't care what others do if it does no-one any harm. Saudade, you're right, so many more things matter than what you're wearing. And I agree with Descartes' stance on alcohol (...therefore I am), but I find Kant quite unreadable. Still, that's a personal thing, as it all is.

I dn't know what the Twin Cities means, but I do know you're not the only one in Minnesota. It sounds like a beautiful state you live in.

I was thinking of multiquoting, but it could have been the whole thread. Lots of people have put a lot of thought into what they said and you dismiss it as not what you wanted, Luckyme. So we reply to anything (try to be part of the forum) or we're wannabe comedians(what, we don't take you seriously enough?). I'm sorry, I got shouted at in a meeting yesterday, and I'm feeling tender, but give us a break. We tried.
