  1. I used to be very against high heels with platforms, because, as Cindy said, they feel like cheating. It doesn't help that poorly made platforms seem to be everywhere in the shops I go to. Then I found a pair I liked and now I will on occasion notice something nice about platform heels. I just don't like the "stripper" look as I prefer an elegant, streamlined look. Like Amanda Snake, I own a few hidden platform heels and what I value most about them is their heel height and "sneaky" platforms rather than the comfort or ease of movement because by the time I bought them I was well at ease in heels. I also am starting to like those more showy platforms that are covered in mirrored metallic material. The actual platform height that appeals to me depends on the shoe in question, as I feel some styles look fine with more platform that would be disastrous on another pair.

  2. Duracellmonk, I don't typically go for platforms but I own a solitary pair. These are really eye catching and I immediately liked them. I would definitely buy them for myself (if the price was right with my poor college student budget). Lucky! My husband is a huge heel lover, although not a heeler so I will add myself to the list of those envying that your partner is also your partner in heeling!

  3. I'm so glad I popped over here to check out your story! Hot! Damn if it was me... well I think I would have risked the law suit  You must be quite the charmer, it really sounds like she was very in to you. Anyways, just working in that house with a room stuffed with shoes plus the hardwood floors must have been a lot of food for thought. Oh the possibilities of house like that!

  4. Sharon, I may just try that hairspray tip. I have not actually worn sheers for the longest time now! It is so nice to wear something that holds up for more than a week or so, oh man. I thought of you in Macy's the other day because they had a very vibrant display of many different styles of tights. They were Hues brand and actually had the denier labeled. It only went up to 100 but still, that's the highest I've ever seen in-store. I imagine Megan would be disappointed at the lack of stripes!

I love the outfit you described, Sharon. How naughty to get such a smart look wet! I don't know that I would do it, but if we were all together, I bet I'd be right there with you two in a snap.

So the main thing about work is that we are all together most of the time so I would definitely get caught putting water in my shoes. Oh and I was going to ask, now that we are on the subject, how long of a skirt/dress and what type is appropriate to wear with boots? I wore a dressy white with black flowers skirt with a blazer and boots to work Friday. I lost weight since I bought the skirt so it sank down to the top of my boots and it was bugging me. It seems to me that there should be a gap between the boots and the end of the skirt? I have sadly less leg length than you, Sharon, but Megan, I am sure you understand my plight, lol!

  5. StockingTop, I have enjoyed your posts! I hope you still visit to share your thoughts on the fashion side of things. I agree that there is a lot of fun to be had on the fetish side of it, couldn't we have a forum on here that is for fetish just like we have forums for shoe repair or favorite heel pictures?

  6. I have been reading so much about shoe play and I've wondered What is the thrill? Add me to the list! I am very guilty of watching a co-worker above me in ranks playing with her heels. Her heels were laying under the desk I sat at one on its side, one upright and at an angle to the other. Purely helter-skelter. Very posh looking, maybe 3 inches and pointed. Across from me she was in a business phone call looking up every so often and catching my glance. Here's the thing--she has incredibly expressive brown eyes. She got up and was walking around wearing a different pair of heels, and maybe she had switched for a change in the pressure on her feet because she started sliding them on and off. The effect is hard to describe: she was all business in her stylish suiting pieces and black nylons but here and there she would slip a foot out. I honestly had to consciously look down at my work or I'm sure I would have been caught! I have always loved wearing power heels, even feeling more sensual and turned on by wearing them. This is the first time it has gone beyond that to lusting over another woman because of her heels! Given her rank, the whole power heels element was even more elevated. Anyone experience something like this?

  7. I can't believe I've been away this long!! Sharon, I admit I was very pleased with myself when you said those were your type of boots. I am starting to get addicted to looking for boots and I just ordered a pair in the middle of typing this up! My excuse is that I need closed toe shoes for work

Oh yeah, the ones I first showed you are about 4" and the ones you forced me to order just now (lol kidding) are about a 3.5." I can hardly wait for them to arrive!! At first it was hard to figure out what I like in boots, but now I think it is down to having the design feature in how the boot is built rather than in things added on like bows and buckles. Plus I noticed that most of the boots I like have that sueded look. So far all the boots I have liked have been black, including the ones I've bought, except for one pair.

Megan, I didn't see any other colors in things other than tights and as you know it has to be stockings, generally speaking lol. I bet I could get away with bright colors if I paired them with the right clothes. That gives me something to think about!

I am working a closing shift tomorrow night and I am so tempted to pour a Megan-sized amount of water in... I'll work my way up to our daring Sharon amounts! :mecry:

  8. Megan!!! Omg, I have never met anyone else with this! I didn't even know I wasn't crazy until a classmate overheard me commenting on this and said it was a real thing in her Psychology book. For me, I just see colors associated with individual letters, numbers, and overall colors to words. Like a is red, c is yellow, 0 is white, 5 is light green, and Ellen is mostly purple and green (purple from the e's). Mostly when I am trying to recall something I think of the colors of the word(s) and the words themselves follow.

I see you are into wedges, I would fall at your feet if we were wearing the same shoes! I recently discovered, upon actually finding a pair of platformed heels I like, that my issue with wedges is that with wedges and platforms your foot can't roll as far as I like to in heels where the front of the foot is closer to the ground.

Anyways, they are very you, please buy them! And I will imagine we are walking above the water through a rainy sidewalk with our tall shoes--but in splashing reach. You in these fabulously loud shoes and me in my black platform heels.

  9. Ugh, laceups, what is her problem? Jealousy. Thank you for the response, I think I'll try it cautiously and keep in mind my local repair shop. They charge an arm and a leg but are good, so I hear. I like to think I'm kind of handy with these sorts of things, but I guess I will find out for sure with this! Shafted, thanks for the pointers. These boots are synthetic, and are maybe not as thick and sturdy as the real deal. Crossing my fingers! :wavey:

  10. Hi, I have searched the Shoe repair forum and found lots of great ideas to keep in mind for reducing the calf size of boots, but not a lot of detail regarding diy.

Dr. Shoe, in one of these posts, mentioned using two needles in hand sewing to make a stronger stitch like a sewing machine would. What else should I look out for? These are the boots, and although the picture doesn't show it, they zip up the back.

I was thinking I could cut the stitching around the zipper and carefully pull it apart, making not of how it was originally stitched. Then I could cut some fabric out like Laceups described in this thread, in thin wedges.

Any ideas? Has anyone else done this?

  11. Megan, I am a touch embarassed to say I don't even know who Christine Keeler is.

ilikekicks, yet another shoe project that I not only should but must do! What a great idea, I will be keeping an eye out for just the right ribbon(s)! Do you have a picture of your heels you might share?

  12. Sharon! You are going to be so proud of me, lol. I finally bought some boots! This picture shows the detail better, but I got them in black. I loved them immediately and my sister sheepishly admitted she had told my husband not to get them for me because I would not like them! All this time I could have had my boots. lol This will be great because I asked my new boss, who wears heels to work <3, and she says no open shoes. In the spring and summer, she allows a little bit of peeptoe but my peep toes will likely be too much. So this is perfect!

And, and! I found over-the-knee opaque cottony socks in black, grey, brown, and purple at department store near my work. They garter very nicely, and after wearing closed toe shoes and tights for my first training, I can see I will need the padding! My toes are not used to being cramped and rubbed by shoes. I am going back to buy more of these stockings tomorrow after work!

Megan, I think it will be a great job to work on my "soft skills." I am not the best with people that I don't like, and my new job deals with many, diverse people on a daily basis so it will be good practice. I've done this type of job with mixed results--excellent with a great manager, and iffy with a shabby one. I think there is potential, but Medicine is still my future goal :wavey: PM me if you ladies want to know more!

One more thing, after a long day of home stuff, work, shopping, going out with my sister's friends/co-workers I found myself thinking of that drinking fountain splash the other day. Sharon, when you're at work and adding water to your shoes, do you unzip then add or pour in from the top for boots?

  13. Lol, I just love that your reason for editing your comment was dry martinis, Megan. Sharon, you are becoming our fashion guru :wavey: I got the job I interviewed for (easily... and they asked me to apply so it was all formalities, :)). Now I need more formal shoes to fit a more formal job. Or I guess I could wear my regular shoes covered with pants and suiting coats. I am not having much luck finding boots or closed heels that catch my fancy B) All the boots I like are so expensive--the cheap ones tend to be pointy toe our that really long square toe look that I dislike. Sharon, I wish I could drag you out here, I'm sure you would be the best to bring along on a shopping marathon! And you did not give us any details about the man you were meeting, Megan! I am inventing all sorts of stories in lieu of your tales lol.
