  1. I have noticed the latest trend for addings spikes and raised studs on ladies footwear lately. When you look at them they are solid metal and sharpened to a point in some cases. This got me thinking, could they be considered a dangerous weapon? I am suprised that this may not have been bought up from some official body. My opinion is they could be quite lethal however attractive they might look. I mean kick someone with the first pair and you could take someones eye out or take a large chunk out of someones shin etc. At the end of the day you can get some lady (or man) wearing pair of these out clubbing one night getting the worse for wear with alcohol getting into a confrontation with someone and then lash out at them ie kicking etc. It doesnt take a genius to figure the serious damage these can do to someones part of the body (legs, head, face etc). So my question is do you think that these could be considered dangerous and be banned in some places? I am fully aware that very thin heels and metal heels are dangerous too but it seems you could injure someone unintentionlly or intentionally quite seriously as they're on the front/back or sides of the shoe, with heels you would have to step or stamp on somebody to injure them. Your thoughts and comments please forum members.

At first i thought these were pleasers, but on closer inspection i dont think they are as pleasers have 8 eyelets as opposed to 6 , nice though!
  3. This style seems to be back in fashion, i seem to remember when i was at school back in the late 1970's the 6th form girls used to wear these, and even back when i was a teenager i wanted a pair, but had neither the nerve or the means to buy some

So i have been making up for it by buying a few pairs when i have seen them in my size.

Here is what i have managed to get so far:

Me Too Lisbon Brown Suede - bought from Ebay

American Eagle Javlin Shootie - from Payless (Through an intermediate on ebay).- These are the closest i have seen to the shoes i mentioned about when i was young so was very please to get something very similar.

Fioni Jax Womens Oxford Shootie - from Payless again from the same source- these have a platform sole like the Brash Komet pump and have only just come out.

I also have a blue pair of Oxfords from Evans but havent been able to get a picture of them as they are in my loft.

Does anyone else like this type of shoe?

  4. Here a several models that are going to be on Payless Shelves next Spring. A bit left field for me although the model in picture 12 is quite nice if it didn't have the bow decoration on the back, I prefer the raquel booties with the gold zips on the outside by Siriano in the stores now myself... bought the leopard and the black...very nice!!! I wonder if any of the models will be in 12 or 13?? http://www.stylebistro.com/Christian+Siriano+for+Payless+Spring+2013+Collection Also love these boots pity they arent available in a 13 :(http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?catId=cat10088&subCatId=cat10045&skuId=125713100&productId=72238&lotId=125713&category=&catdisplayName=Womens

  5. I will give an example.... about 2 years ago i bought a pair of mules from 6in heels forever before their prices rocketed (who manufacture their shoes in China), but as they offer a kind of bespoke service (made to order) they were far more attentive when it came to sizing, in their case i had to order a Chinese size 46 which is a UK10, maybe a little ove and a narrower width. It's obvious therefore that the 44's i got were going to be far too small. Its seems highly likely they thought their Chinese 44's are the same as a EU44 which they are most definately not.

  6. I recently bought a pair of hidden platform pumps of a Chinese based seller. I ordered a pair sized Size UK11 / US14/ EU44, alarm bells should have rang there and then as the sizes don't really tally, but i thought as i ordered their largest size i might get away with it. When they arrived they were at least 2 sizes too small. it looks like to me that they have taken a Chinese 44 (a UK8 US10 EU42????) called it a EU44 and then did ballsed up conversion of that, my wife who is a wide UK7 was able to wear them but not comfortably. So beware when you order shoes from these Chinese sellers as you may find you end up with the wrong size. I give below a link to the shoes i ordered to illustrate my point. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320949593618 (btw the large sizings are greyed out now).

  7. Just.. insane. Not the footware, but the pricing.

' Payless ' used to be bargain type footware. 9$-30$ USD at the most. Now, its not uncommon to see some 60$ items selling on their store shelves. The items posted look to be quite nice and what the recent trends are.

The Quality of their selections has improved some, but not THAT much to merit pricing doubling over a 2-3 year period.

Bung on a fancy designer designer sounding name and you can easily put another $20-30 on the price ;)

  8. As a resident in the UK i can't speak for the experience of shopping in Payless stores. However as a purchaser of their shoes for a number of years (probably 40-50 pairs) through ebay and people in the US buying and shipping them on my behalf, I have generally been very pleased with all my purchases, none have fallen apart on me (however i dont wear my shoes outside). The reason i buy from them are the prices and the selection of contemporary styles in my size (12w or 13) which you cannot find in the UK. On the whole the selections in my size range are good if not overwhelming, there was only period at the beginning of the year where the there was little to inspire - a sign of the austerity times perhaps, but things have picked up now, looking forward to the boot styles for the fall. I just wish they would ship to the UK directly but i cant see that happening anytime soon. So yesbuying from Payless for me is a positive experience.
