  1. I'll get the ball rolling.... Ebay sellers who clearly do not have a clue what they are selling ie Sellers not being able to distinguish American and EU/UK sizes. I have bought two pairs of boots where they were decribed as a UK10 when they were in fact a US10, despite me asking in advance. FFS why cant they compare the shoes with a similar sized shoe, theres 2 sizes difference for god sake which is pretty noticible, its lazy and unprofessional. Really gets up my goat that does. Oh and while we are at it Chinese manufacturers who think Chinese sizes are the same as EUR ones too. I despair!! Anyone else want to get something of their chest thats shoe related?

  2. The 'Thin White Duke' David Bowie, used to wear lots of towering heels in the 70's ... but wearing a more modest pair of 'kitten heels' in this picture......

Wasn't all that into his ziggy stardust look, but have to say he's one stylish dude now and looks really good for a man in his 60's, he can pull off any fashion with class and style!

Made a fairly passable women in the 'Boys keep swinging' video too and in heels, the diva and 50's style ones not the dowdy one, if you see the video you will know what i mean.

  3. You hit the nail on the head Puffer, i was thinking the very same for a while that the choice of UK10/11 on Big Shoe Boutique was virtually non existant. In the good old days i bought up pretty much everything (within reason) ghat BSB was selling. Most of their shoes were true to size...then in the last year or so they were coming up with some contemporary styles in large sizes thats where it started going wrong in my opinion lots of these styles were a least a size smaller , 2 was not uncommon and sometimes even more. I took this up with them along with some other customers who noticed the same, their pathetic excuse was they were now continental sizing so a 10 was a 43 and an 11 was a 44 according to their thinking. So in one foul swoop they alienated a whole sector of their business because they didnt fit. From that moment on things had gone downhill (along with the administration). I have to agree with Puffer, they seem not to give a fig about the customers they were targeting, so its no wonder they are in the perilous state they are in. A real shame and a missed opportunity, its complete bollox that there is not sufficient demand for larger shoes, if that was the case Long Tall Sally, Magnus and Evans would have reduced their shoe lines years ago. Girls are getting taller and their feet are getting bigger FACT, they must know men buy their shoes a lot of reviews make no bones that they are male customers. I really hope that some retailer opens their eyes and sees there is demand for their product. They could start by doing a national survey (or the Shoe retailers association) on shoe sizes, i believe one hasn't been done since the 60's as far as i am aware, their attitudes are still in the 20th century, time they woke up ans smell the coffee. It would seem for the moment i will have to purchase my shoes from the states or wait for Long Tall Sally shoes to be sold on Ebay or in a sale as i cant justify the high price they sell them for retail. So Barratts are the cause of their own downfall., and yes Big Shoe boutique will probably fold , size 8's and 9's no longer qualify as BIG feet so the name is a bit of a misnomer now.

  4. Jarl Atari I'm in the UK...as you may remember as I sold you some shoes a way back. Sometimes you have to be a bit more resourceful if you want something from Payless. Two choices both involve a bit of money.. Take a chance on eBay usa and hope they have what you want and the seller is willing to send abroad or do what i do and get someone to buy on your behalf and ship them over for a small handling fee. I have a lady who I have used for several years and she is most professional and charges reasonable fees, usually $10 a pair. From what I know the 13s jax Oxfords have sold out on Payless so unless a pair comes up on eBay you may be unsuccessful. Dr Shoe I have 4 pairs of heeled lace ups now, trouble is if you take a uk10 they can be hard to come by, if I could find them I'd get them :) With one exception not a fan of the Ellie/pleaser offerings which would be the most likeliest option for an oxford shoe in my size.

  5. Good for you my friend...I hope they do some more colour options in the larger sizes, I don't see why not as they seem to be one of Payless' more popular lines, do they do a plain black or black patent in a 13? Or when summer is here maybe some lighter colours, I had a nice pair from Payless in a nice linen colour during the summer season, they also did the same pump in pastel colours alas not in my size.

  6. Thanks for your opinions Happy in heels, I am certainly not an advocate of nanny statizm or political correctness, far from it in fact, fashion freedom for all... I posted this to garner peoples opinions and provoke a debate. You have to admit some of these shoes could cause a nasty injury, my point is has any jobs worth made an issue of it, also if a man got a pair of doctor martins and put spikes in the toes, would he be stopped in the street and taken in for possessing a dangerous weapon, especially if he had a shaved head, was a Goth, punk rocker etc. But if a woman wore a pair of spiked adorned heels in a public place it would be OK because it was fashion?

  7. Because I live in the UK I have someone order them for me in the states and send them over, it still works out cheaper than having torrid directly ship them to me. I have got some great bargains as they had a 30% sale. I got the same ones as luvyourshoes avatar and a pair of high heel Mary James in light brown suede with a nude patent toecap, love them both, also have a pair of the Sammy boots in black, really wanted the cognac colour ones but didn't have them in my size. Will definitely buy some more Torrid shoes next year if I find any I like!

  8. I found there wasn't much I liked on Payless at the moment so was looking a little further afield and came across Torrid.com, they mainly do clothes but have a fair selection of shoes up to a US13 and in wide width but they didn,'t seem all that wide to me. Managed to get a couple of pairs of pumps and have a pair of boots on order, they have 30% sale at the moment which was handy. They aren't too bad not designer quality but better than Payless. Has anyone else have any experience with them?

  9. A quick trawl of the net (Ebay / Shoe store) i found loads of affordable knock offs all with spikes - very pointed ones at that, some nearly an inch long, think dancefloor where people regulary bump into eachother, easy to drag spikes across someone elses ankles etc. I think they are potentially lethal.

Admittedly the ones in the pictures i provided are extreme but i wouldnt say they were exclusive to designers shoes.

These ones are only £24.95 and look bloody sharp to me, i wouldnt want to be kicked by them!

These from milano are comperable with those designer shoes and they are only £32.99....
