  1. Nice selection fatfuzz, my favourites are the the black sude with the metallic toe-cap - their heel height is perfect and the cut around the toe is very elegant. The lower cut of the purple pair look great on you, but I find that low-cut styles like that aren't so flattering for me. They're nice to see on others though.

How do you find the sizing/fit from Long Tall Sally - they look like maybe they're best suited to feet that aren't too wide?

Thanks sleek heels. I find long tall Sally generally run true to size and I have wide-ish feet and they always fit well. I think because of the way they're designed they do a good job of hiding the fact they're wide quite well. I really rate long tall Sally now - not a fan of all they're styles but they have at least one or two pairs every season that I have to have. These new ones are real leather too so they've gently moulded to my feet for a super comfy fit. I can't go on about them enough..

Fatfuzz they sell a very similar pair to your metal toe cap shoes on Payless in America , Black, Pink and Taupe. I have the pink. Very nice shoes BTW,

Also the taupe coloured round pumps you got from Barratts... i got every colour they did bar black matt and patent and they did a lot of colours.

Red Suede, Black suede, Grey Suede, Purple Suede, Black Snakeskin, Pink Patent, and Taupe...i got a pair of each of those, very good value and comfortable. What size where the toe cap heels???

barney, the lts toe caps are size 11uk, 45 euro which Is 13us, I believe.

I wish Payless would come to the uk. Barratts was the closest thing but they've been rubbish for a couple of years tho. Those shoes you show look awesome!

    Fatfuzz!

Im extremely happy to know Im not the only person whom purchases un-jackstanded footware these days ;)

dude, forgive me but I don't get the American parlance - what do you mean by un-jack standed??
  2. @ fatfuzz

Nice shoe purchases I have similar styles. I might have to check barratts to see if i can get the purple. I have the same style in about 5 different colours.

Unfortunately, you won't find them available at Barratts anymore - they've been discontinued for a couple of years now. I found these on ebay and they turn up every once in a while and always fetch a good price which would suggest they are in demand! I think Barratts should start doing them again. They also used to do a similar style called shuffle which were the successor to the Wham style and I also have a pair of those in red which I think are shown in my gallery.
  3. Evening all,

I have been a somewhat inactive on here recently but I've just made a spurt of shoe purchases and they're all amazing! I've bought some really nice shoes that all fit well and look great.

    In no particular order:

Black suede stiletto courts with pointy toe and metallic look toe cap. From Long tall Sally. They are quite possibly the most gorgeous pair of heels I have ever owned.

Next are purple pointy stilettos from Barratts "Wham". These are an all time favourite of mine so it's good to have some back in the cupboard. I've owned every colour they were available in at some point in my life.

Then it's the Sherbert round toe stilettos. Another style I've owned in many different colours. I think the black suede ones were my favourite but I'm really into the colour of these too. Although very cheap shoes they are very comfortable to walk in and I know from experience that they are also hard wearing.

Finally, imported at great expense all the way from the US (Barefoottess) my Steve Madden almond toe 2.5" courts with a chunky stack heel. Seriously comfortable. I can see myself making my debut public appearance in these should it ever happen..

  4. Got some new tall platform wedges. They're Steve Madden Xenon with a 5.5-inch heel and a 1.5 inch platform.

    Yes! I'm digging those shoes...

I've had my eye on those for a while, but haven't been able to find them near me. I guess I could order them, but I really dislike doing that. Wish they would just have them in my size (11W or 12M) in store, but no such luck. I did see something a bit disturbing the other day. One of their stores in my area is being remodeled into what they are claiming will be the largest Payless in the metro area. The sign on the window says something to the effect that - feet come in all sizes, and so do our shoes - and then states Women's Sizes 5 to 11. What happened to size 12? If that's the case, looks like Payless will be out of my loop, though I suppose I could look for 11 wides if they have them.

Those Nine West pumps look great Fatfuzz - can you get a pic with the heel showing? I like the style and they look good on you.

Thanks Ron. I'll get some more pics together soon..
  5. Like the look. Love the fact that the jean tapers down without being a skinny fit. It's the perfect fit for those a little bit insecure about wearing full on skinnies.

Thanks man! Skinnies look crap on me anyway as I've got quite big feet (US 13 ish) and quite skinny ankles plus my legs bow a bit. Girly shoes just look like they've been stuck on end of my legs if I wear skinnies! It really is a bad look although cropped they don't look so bad.

These "slim" jeans from UK retailer Next hide all of these features quite well.

I realized that I have to ask about the floral top. I would like to see more of it. I like the pattern, and would love to see the fit and style.

I'll have to take some photos of it. I can't recall who made it but I got it from TKMaxx - don't know if you have them in the US but they basically sell designer gear at high street prices - usually last years lines or something like that. You never see 2 of the same garms in the rack or even the following week but they do have some good stuff relatively cheap if you can be bothered going through it all.
  6. I'm going to take a cue from my daughter's dance instructor who is very very good by the way. The girls are not allowed on pointe until around 14, and they have to take a pre-pointe class. So I think probably 11 is too young. They are still growing and it their feet and ankles (that's the important part) and legs are strong enough they could really get hurt. If they start too early they could end up permanently disabled.

Please excuse my ignorance but what is "pointe"? and what does the term "on pointe" mean?
  7. Personally, I'd happily pay a small fee per month to not have to have ads. Advertising is the bain of modern living - you can't go anywhere or do anything without someone trying to sell you something that you really don't need. Maybe that is an option? Ad free for a small fee (hey - there's a slogan there!) but I guess that's gonna make more work for the founder and moderators of the site who already do this for free. I just hate ads and the fact that they are needed to fund our little ideas and projects. It's just another arm of the corporate machine grabbing us by the proverbial balls... BUT at the end of the day, I have learned to block them out so it's actually not much of a problem - certainly on this site - and doesn't get in the way of me enjoying this marvellous site. I'm just having a whinge.

  8. I think everyone will have difficulty viewing your photo's as they reside on your computer and not available for others to see.

Ha ha! Yes indeed! I was trying to upload photos using the "image" button and it doesn't want to work and then I got side tracked. Now I'm trying a different method. Lets see if this works:

Ta-DA!! Now kiss MY nine wests! Bought from ebay these stiletto peep toes are rocking my heel world right now. Super sexy and very comfy to wear - I love these new shoes!

And I'm experimenting with more femme garms too (in case you didn't notice).

  9. ME! I have some new shoes for your viewing pleasure!

file://localhost/Users/larkosmaximus/Desktop/New%20Shoes/P1030426.JPGOh, I've done it wrong! I'll try again - hold on!

  10. I love hearing these stories! Thanks for the last one ILK - hearing things like that really help! I'm away working for the next 12 days so there'll be no heeling at all for me but once I have money in the bank again, I'm planning a trip to London to do some heeling, probably around some tourist areas. Busy places seem to be the place to do it. And this will be the sole purpose of my trip as other things tend to get in the way! My bro is living at my grandma's place in west London (she's 102 yrs old and lives at my parents) and he's cool with it so I'll probably stay there for my little trip. Anyway, take care folks - see you in a couple of weeks. Happy heeling!

  11. A couple of years ago, someone snapped a pic of me while I was in the downtown Philly Apple Store wearing tight jeans and my thigh high boots and it wound up on a website devoted to bad fashion. If I can remember where that link is, I'll post it for your viewing pleasure.

    Oh dear...
  12. I couldn't agree with you more regarding quality against price. My all time favourite shoes came from Barratts - 2 styles actually, the wham and i can't remember the other name but it was similar in style. They fit like a dream and lasted for ever apart from needing re-heeling once in awhile. I've owned so many pairs of them but all gone in various purges over the ages. Luckily they still appear from time to time on ebay which is where my red ones came from. Either way, endless searching hasn't turned up much hence the reason for this post. I wonder if I could get a foot transplant on the NHS?! That would solve a few problems. "Hello, how can I help you today?" "Well doctor, I am having trouble finding decent high heels because my feet are quite large so I was wondering if I could get a foot transplant to something a bit smaller like a size 8 or 9?" "I'll book you into see the psychiatrist first thing tomorrow"

  13. Sounds like a night out in your average northern english small town! And city for that matter. I'm a sound engineer myself and used to do alot of work in small venues around town (cut my teeth in them) and whilst it's a rare thing I have experienced similar things when the wrong crowds have been mixed together - usually on some local band showcase night.

  14. Hi Everyone, I'm a bit broke at the moment so I can't afford to splash out on any new shoes - especially as I spent a small fortune on my current collection after the last EVER purge at the start of the year even though I could not afford it! But I've been sat around thinking that there's only on or 2 places I can actually buy heels I like and that's basically ebay and Long Tall Sally. I used to shop at Barratts but they haven't stocked any nice shoes in a while and the quality seems to have bottomed right out. Ebay is actually quite good fun because you never know whats going to turn up or if you'll get them! Size is the issue - I am a size 11 UK (I fit some 10's depending on the manufacturer) which equates to a US 13 or Euro 45/46. I have bought shoes from Classic Pumps but their widest fit is just too narrow. I found Barefoot Tess to have some great shoes and have made some purchases there. So I was wondering if anyone can make any recommendations for new places I can go shopping for heels? Plain 4" inch stiletto pointy courts are my standard and favourite but I like a variety of different styles like wedges, peep toes, boots etc. Check my gallery to get a feel for what I like, I guess... It's a shame we don't have Payless over here as it seems some of our american cousins shop there for larger sizes on a regular basis. I think Barratts was probably the UK equivalent and I have bought shit piles of shoes from them in the past but, like I said before, the quality of the styles and shoes is much lower than it was before. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
