Hello, I hope this isn't to forward for a first time poster, but I was wondering if anyone could help as i'm in a bit of a tricky situation. About 6 months ago, I got with my current boyfriend, and he let me in on his shoe fetish..and bought me some 6.5 inch padlock patent heels, with no platform, which is fine, but i simply CANNOT walk in them. I've tried...and all I can think is that he's never going to be happy with me unless I can walk in them! He hasnt said anything about it yet, but he puts them on me before he goes to work and takes the keys...so I assume he thinks I can walk in them just fine! Does anyone have any tips? I can just about stand in them. If I try real hard. Im not sure what to do :S

Yikes! I have a pair of similar heels myself in size US11 and I can only barely walk in them myself. If your shoe size is smaller I can understnd your difficulty. If your boyfriend has got this shoe fetish maybe you could talk him into a little be less heel and still wear locked shoes. I have a pair of 5 inch locking ankle strap pumps myself as well a 6.5 inch pair. At least I can function in the 5 inch pair. Admittingly they are actually quite fun to wear. You could perhaps work your way up to 6.5 inch shoes, but to be put into them all at once may be a little too much to ask. Good luck.

Hello SarahLou, First, welcome to the forums!! I've been here forever but am not a regular poster, however, I read this story with both fear and a grin... First, let me explain what I think he's thinking...If he's like me, he likes the challenge presented of walking in extremely high heels, hopefully not something worse. If we didn't have two children in the house I would do something similar with my wife but I am realistic about things...They would NOT be her highest heels. Have you ever experienced very high heels?? Like 5" or so?? Or are heels totally new to you?? From the sounds of it, and with no further knowledge than this post, he's almost making you his slave right from the start. With them locked on you can't run away and seeking help could be rather embarrassing. Fortunately, most heel's straps are made of leather or something that's easily cut with a decent knife. If he's not willing to budge on the height, you may have no choice but to leave the situation and find someone else as 6.5" is WAY TOO HIGH for a beginner!! Second, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO POST HERE!!! 90% of the regular posters are quite friendly and non-judgmental. (This part is from your other post about piercings.) If you read through the forums you will find much useful information on wearing/caring/playing in heels from some rather experienced people. These people are here to help if possible and shed light on your wobbly path :-) Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions or catch me on Yahoo Messenger...Shoeiee is the handle :-) I'd love to chat with anyone about heels so this is an open invitation to all on HHPlace. Just make sure you tell me you're from here in your intro!! Happy Heeling!! Shoeiee

Thanks very much for the advice! Im growing to like this forum more and more, you guys seem really nice. Yes, I am completely new to heels. I'm 19 years old, so I probably should've owned some kind of heel before, I guess Im a late starter. I'll see how he takes the news of needing to be in lower heels!

Start off with a comfortable pair of 3" heels which you should wear every day for at least a month, go to work, shopping and socialise in them. Soon you will be able to do everything that you can do in flats and you will hardly notice the height. Then go up to 4" heels (blocks or wedges). These you will need to wear over a longer period of time, if they are getting too much for you, go back to 3" for a few hours or so. After about two months you will not have a problem with 4" heels. Next either go up to 4.5" stilettos or 5" blocks if you can find them. By now you should be able to wear your ultra heels for short periods of time. Next you will try 5.5" stilettos then 6" heels. The main thing is don't rush, it may take a year or two to work up to a 6" heel, proper fit is very important taking care of your feet should be #1 over all. Proper fitting shoes is not based on price of the shoe but how it fits. A few things to keep in mind.

Don't go by size for every type stile or brand name, one brand name may be a size 6 M but it may actually fit as a narrow or it my be to short and you will need a size 6.5.

On a square or a rounded toe box you may fit a size 6 where you will fit a 6.5/7 with a pointed toe box. You may need a different size when wearing sandals or mules, or even boots.

Trying out shoes should be done towards the end to the day when your feet have swelled up.

Your foot should fallow the full contour of the shoe, most of your weight will be on the balls of your feet, the more of your foot fallows the contour, the more weight will be distributed the longer you can go.

Pumps should have a slightly snug fit.

No slipping sliding and/or pinching, heel and foot inserts might help if needed but don't count on them.

Lesson to your feet if they get tired or start hurting change to a lower heel height or remove your shoes and rest your feet for an hour or so. However some times your feet will have swollen to much after removing your shoes it won't fit back on, so it would be a good idea to carry a pair of flats/lower heel apishly when adjusting to a new heel height.

Also rotating heel height during the day will prevent your tendons in your lower leg form shorting up and becoming permanent high heel wear, cuse wearing flats or even a lower heel could be pain full and may cause injury if you pull it when not wearing high heels.

Boots are great piece of foot wear for a beginner to wear as they will support your ankles, prevent twists, and still help strengthen them.

Leather is the best, but don't snub other materials if the foot fits the shoe, wear it. There are plenty of shoes to try on and wear, even if you want the shoe so bad I will guarantee you won't be wearing them much if at all. Well unless it’s just for the bed room!! Comfort in #1 here, so feel free to put the shoe back on the shelf.
