Women Walking in Heels

Recommended Posts

There is just something mesmerizing about a woman walking in heels that I can't put my finger on. My guess is it's the dexterity and flexibility that woman have. As much as I practice, I just can't glide(float) like a woman does wearing heels. Any thoughts?

Well, if you're looking for that feminine hip swing you're probably out of luck. Men just can't do that part as well, as our hips are built differently. You should be able to walk smoothly with practice though. Perhaps try a lower heel first.

If you watch a lot of modeling shows, even some while wearing heels, you'll probably pick up on the habit short-term. The distinctions are significant in heels, incl. pumps, boots, and heeled sandals. THe gap closes some when wearing lower sandals or wedges, because the walking motion isn't altered as much...

I just CANNOT, wear, at all, 2 or 3 inch heels. It just all goes wrong. It has to be almost completely flat or more than 4 inches. Height matters.

When I was very unsure of myself on Halloween on tilting and rough, uneven surfaces out in public, there were girls walking along nonchalantly in regular and platform heels with seemingly perfect control. I was jealous. Of course, they were younger and had more practice, I'm sure, but I want to do that!

BobHH: I know what you mean. We've been to Italy several times and the women there can walk on 500 year old cobblestone streets in these gorgeous Italian stiletto heels and not even miss a step. On and off buses, up and down subway steps and getting on and off motor scooters. It's a high heeled aficianado's dream come true. They were everywhere and so non chalant about it, like they wouldn't sacrifice any of it just for "comfort"...the only sneakers you see are on the tourists... Wineanddine

Not braggin here. I wear 4' stilettos around the house no less than 20 hours a week, every week. No problem. I can keep my balance while I stand on one foot while I slip the other shoe off and on and shoe play as well as any woman, dipping, dangling ect. 5" stilettos are difficult and I teeter a bit. 6" heels are for the bedroom only. Please try this exercise. Stand on one foot and slowly raise yourself up and down while keeping your toes flat on the floor and retaining your. Yes its difficult at first but it works....Larry

now that i've learned to walk in 4in heels for long periods of time, walking in anything lower feels weird.

A 4" heel seems to be the ideal for comfort and any sense of wearing a heel. A 3" heel almost seems like a flat to walk in. I can walk smoothly in 5" heels, but they are not comfortable for long periods, and 6" heels are frankly difficult to walk in for any lenght.
