Pam Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 *Go to page 2 of the thread for details of the 19 March Meet* FF Hello to all, Halloween is around the corner, and it is a great time to meet and go heeling around in the city!!! It is a great time for us 1st timers because EVERYBODY is dressed up and is easier to 'blend' within, great to start building some confidence! For the ones that have been out longer, it is an excuse to drink and meet new friends! Heels and/or any dressups is welcomed but not required! The plan can be to meet and see the parade, followed by dinner & drinks. I think the parade is on the 31st in the village. We can meet around 7.00...just need a place to meet. Any one interested?
Firefox Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Go for it guys. It would be a victory for self expression if the heel meet ups could start in other places around the world.
Heelfan Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I'll second Firefox. Way to go, New Yorkers! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Heelfan Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 One of you needs to name a meeting place. On our UK heel-meets, we usually name a coffee-house or bar where we can congregate, sit and have a drink and introduce ourselves before moving off for a walk around. It might be unwise for you to name a bar right alongside some gathering or parade, because it would probably be far to busy. Maybe specify a place a block or two away that would be more quiet for the initial meet-up? Good luck! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
crotchhiboots Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Sounds great all we knead is a date. I'm in. Looking foward to it. 77r90dL lf
Firefox Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I'll add your meeting to the calender. Hope you have a great time. If someone can mamage take photos, even just of your shoe fashion you wore, people will love to see them I'm sure.
Pam Posted October 20, 2004 Author Posted October 20, 2004 I am in! I look forward to see everyone on the 31st!
Heelfan Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Yes! Wonderful to see the US contingent getting its act together! As Firefox says, I too hope you have a great time! Good luck from the UK street-heelers! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Heelfan Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Sounds very suave! However, just a tip from this regular attender at the UK Heel-Meets: Booking a posh table of that sort would tie you all down to a whole evening of getting your moneysworth sitting down. To us UK enthusiasts, the whole fun of it is to meet-up mid morning at a coffee bar or similar, and then to move of by about 11 am to enjoy a whole day of street-heeling in a like-minded group, with a mixture of shoe-shopping, eating, drinking and generally socialising (and answering any questions from any passers by who are sufficiently intrigued to approach us). Therefore, ask yourselves whether a whole evening of heels-hidden-under-the-table is what you all want (in which case Webster Hall sounds fine), or whether you'd rather use a food/drink bar as an initial meeting place before moving off and enjoying street-heeling together around town like we do. Constructively yours, Heelfan (UK) Onwards and upwards!
Heelfan Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Ok then Kneehighs, why not specify a particular informal "Quick visit" type bar or cafe so that the others will know exactly where to meet you? Good luck! Heelfan (UK) Onwards and upwards!
Pam Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 We can go to bar-hopping, I am sure there will be plenty of places that will be live and fun enough! Pam
crotchhiboots Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Were was all the guys at this heelmeet? I was at East of Eaghth from 6:45-7:45 and did not!!!!! meet anybody there. A very pissed off Chb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 77r90dL lf
Heelfan Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Oh that's so disappointing! C I B! Why on earth is is that we UK members can time after time successfully attend our UK Heel-Meets in good numbers, and yet nothing ever seems to come to anything in the mighty US of A? Full marks to you C I B for turning up, but I think the others owe you a big apology and preferably an explanation too! There's nothing that us UK Heel-Meeters would like better than to see similar meets succeeding in other countries! Gloomily yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Pam Posted November 1, 2004 Author Posted November 1, 2004 I was there!!!! I got there around 7.00 and waitd for 40 minunes I didn't see anybody, even spent sometime talking to a couple of people in the bar; some guy was in pretty god drag and one blond girl in a white costume. Anyway....since I didn't see anyone i went to see the parade and tried to have a good time. Hopefully the next meeting will be more succesful
Heelfan Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 That's terrible if two or more of you were there within feet of each other without realising it. Take a tip from us guys: A tiny bit of pre-planning will avoid that next time. Either give each other a little bit of description of yourselves, or do what we also do and post your cellphone numbers beforehand! Better luck next time! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Firefox Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Mobile phone numbers are a must to exchange beforehand.
gary0618 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 OK. We tried. Let's try again! I know I am guilty too. I said I was interested in a meet and I did not show. I think there were a few basic problems from the start. #1. A Sunday is not the best time for me. I am almost 2 hours from New York City. Saturday would be great for me. #2. The time. 7pm is too late to start, especially on a sunday. #3. The Holiday. Halloween is a good time for getting your feet wet (pun intended), but I had plans locally for halloween. Now lets see who is interested in trying it again. I would suggest we meet around noon on a saturday for lunch. I would hope one of our members living in NYC or very close, can choose an informal place for us. We can eat, chat and get to know each other a bit. Then perhaps someone can suggest a few places to go. I know 8th street was the "Shoe District" a few years ago. Is it still? I know NYC offers tons of shopping places but I am not real familiar with the city myself. Perhaps a trip to Barney's, or Century 21 (which I hear has many many shoes), or even a visit to some tourist attraction. I could see us visiting a museum, or other tourist attractions during the later afternoon. Or just some general shopping. I know NYC has lots of great bookstores and other fun stores. Then we can end our day with dinner, perhaps by 5 or 6 pm. We can discuss any purchases we made, enjoy a meal and each others company. Say our goodbye's and look forward to the next meeting. I think we need to plan ahead, so, how does March 5, 2005 sound? This could be a lot of fun. So let's do it! Gary0618 FLAT SHOES, LIKE FLAT DRINKS, ARE FOR FLAT PEOPLE
crotchhiboots Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Count me in. Looking foward to it. 77r90dL lf
gary0618 Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 New York City Heel Meet. Looks like by popular request, we are scheduling our meeting for March 19, 2005. It does sound like a long way away, but we want to plan it out a bit and make it work this time! We are hoping to meet at A To Be Determined restaurant at noon. Probably in the village area. We will get to know each other of a casual lunch. I think we all would like to do some shopping, or at least looking. So any suggestions are welcome, Please. 8th street keeps coming up as a good place to start for heel shopping. Any other suggestions for the afternoon? Then we can finish with dinner. SPREAD THE WORD ! Gary0618 FLAT SHOES, LIKE FLAT DRINKS, ARE FOR FLAT PEOPLE
Firefox Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I've retitled your thread with NYC 19 March 2005 in the title, so keep posting in it from time to time and it will show up in the recent posts search and thus advertise the date for you.
Guest Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I'd love to participate, but I have a wedding to attend in Washington state two weeks prior... I can't afford to take more days off as this trip to Washington will take six days out of me in March! I wish you all the best of luck, I'll be there in spirit. I might go to downtown New Orleans in my heels and enjoy myself there...

kent Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Too bad, I won't be in town for the heel meet. I am stationed outside of US most time of the year. But please go for it! It will be great to meet others who shared the same passion. I am glad I join the brits for last Sept in Bristol.
crotchhiboots Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Yes I was there. The person In between us is GenniferCD if I'm not misteaken. 77r90dL lf
JeffB Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Hiya, kneehighs: Well, I must say that was most impressive! It's certainly good to know that the law is on our side when it comes to heel wearing. If I didn't need to take out a second and third mortgage or win the lottery for some obscene amount of money, I'd certainly move to NYC! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
