It's nice to see something contemporary for a change. I didn't manage the whole song but I get the Gist.

I've never listened to the whole "song" either, I just recall the opening lines from years ago.  Very annoying.

OK, I must confess that I might end up with egg on my face if this next offering is actually any good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JC2yu2a9sHk.  I just Googled to get a link based upon the "artiste", but still can't bring myself to listen; and yet I'm subjecting you to it!

Amanda, I think you should make a ruling here. Don't you think there should be a rule that you have to have heard the song?  My next offering is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoi5sVsJqCY  None of it is dreadful in itself.  Indeed, the awfulness is in the fact that I'm just enjoying In the Mood then it leaps to another song.  All they did was cobble other people's songs together without even taking the trouble to make the transition professionally

You absolutely should have heard the song yes. thank you meg. i had hoped not to have any rules but that's just not on at all.

No, you're right, we don't  want rules.  It should run on the Right Spirit.  I'm sure skirtandheel is feeling Thoroughly Chastened, as the Rev. Awdrey would have it.  Now, no links you haven't listened to.

I wouldn't dream of posting a link I hadn't heard. I would put skirtandheel in chastity without a second thought though :cheeky:

I stand chastised. And to add to the punishment, I have now listened to that piece and stand with egg on my face.....

No, no, wait a minute. I feel vindicated because, having now listened to it, I can put my hand on my heart and say I think it is awful:-) My original post was prompted by this article http://m.mic.com/articles/95260/how-the-music-industry-is-brainwashing-you-to-like-bad-pop-songs

And, from that article, I'd like to offer the B.E.P. "I Gotta Feeling" as the next bad piece. To me, the repeated airtime was akin to Chinese Water Torture. What I really love about bad music is that I'm actually grateful for it all.

These just get worse. And it doesn't matter which language one chooses when writing(?) this aural assault....

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M06bcINwZo8

Well, there was an English version. It's just that I was too lazy to locate a copy online; it wouldn't have been any worse nor better, anyway.

So  let's keep it English.

Ouch!

How about http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q4L5Bbm5BNw ? I couldn't stand it, especially as it was a song written to fit an existing (awful) melody.

Truly awful, and as you say, written to use a surplus melody.  You know the drummer from Golden Earring who used body pads as drums?  He wrote the Eastenders theme one night when he fell down the stairs.

I didn't mean to upbraid you for using non-English.  That would be odd coming from me, and I'm sure Johnny Foreign can provide a rich seam.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3q7Y3fgTIc  Shooting fish in a barrel.

I live and learn. Had no idea about. Thanks for the trivia.

No worries there. I was just struggling to find something at the time, so a good call on your part.

Ah, yes. If opened to such, then our old friends at the Eurovision Song Contest would be offering their back catalogue. Oh, yes, I see you beat me to it with

Shooting fish in a barrel.
I must concede this battle here, my valiant adversary. My arsenal is empty.......

No, no. I think I may have just located a smidgen of powder within my keg, http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bBQVrCflZ_E, unless I've missed another previous post, in which case I await Miss Amanda's discipline (and, to think so many of us enjoyed this back in the day!);-)

Now, you run the risk of straying into matters of taste.  There's nothing skin creepingly awful about Starship's offereng.  One may like it or not.  But as we're doing it on the edge, I'll offer this on the basis that it includes children.  Never good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFtLONl4cNc.  It seems like a Rasta version of JWs sending children to one's door.

I know, taste doesn't mean bad. Yet I must still question whether it would have appealed had it not been used in the film. Just how many key changes can be engineered into a song?

Whilst reviewing this thread I noticed an error in one of my earlier postings:

How can you say something by the Kermit or the Muppets fits this thread;-)

I offer https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h0Hd3uWKFKY

I think there was an element of a good time feel to it at the time, but.....

Somehow, my offering got mixed up with your earlier post, Megan, of Kermit and Debbie. It should have been this: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KaBdajHOsSM

Ah, then the question of irony.  I feel the ironic use of The Verve's video disqualifies this one.  And part of the joy of football songs is how bad they are, though I now have a flood of them in my head.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZYfi_Ex_gM and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5ybcVs8N-g and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcE86JmIN3E and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcE86JmIN3E  Don't forget, honour requires you to listen to them all right to the end.

So my offering:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAmx_XdQky8  Masquerading as funny

I am simultaneously fortunate and unfortunate enough to have heard, and remember, each of those. I feel traumatised to have had them brought to the fore again. Of course, the only thing worse than a football song is a song by a footballer, or two. But, as I've already ridden that pony, I think I'll offer this instead http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xlNMk4SD6gA

I don't think it's been offered before but the list is becoming quite cumbersome to manage now! I can only apologise if it's already on the list and await my penalty. If I get to a proper screen and connection, I'll draft a list of offerings to date.

Roll up, roll up. Come and join the meganiwish/skirtandheel double act that is the "Links to the Worst Music Ever" thread.

I'm going to have to listen to that one later Megan as I don't recall it, but he has always had the potential to make the proverbial turkey.

My next is rather a quick fire, scrape the barrel offering. It might just be bad taste, but then again! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VcDy8HEg1QY

Does anybody else have something to offer? I think Megan's in a league of her own, here; I admit it, I'm struggling to keep pace. Surely some of our Trans-Atlantic/Antipodean friends have pieces that never made it to UK shores!

Ah, Cotton Eyed Joe.  When I was teacher training we had a music teacher who was fond of that song.  Cotton eyed means blue eyed (cotton flowers are blue) but it manages to conjure up images of wide eyed 'negroes'.

Oh, my childhood was full of it.  We put up with this kind of stuff and were thankful for it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2sMuVPMkkk  These people had no shame.  Their offspring are working for energy companies and fleecing old ladies.
