An interesting little article from a London newspaper earlier this week:

Gabby: Boss said I was too glamorous

Sports presenter Gabby Logan claims she was once told off by a BBC boss for looking "too glamorous" when he spotted her in high-heeled boots. But Logan, 40, above, defended her looks and said viewers want to see something "aspirational" on TV. She told Radio Times: "It's right that people on prime time look after their appearance."

I once saw this makeover program on the BBC where they had one of their newsreaders and they were instructed that because of her job they couldn't do sexy. Speaking of British television presenters, didn't the BBC local news for London have this smart dressed Indian woman who was always wearing boots and heels?

Yes, I read about the Gabby Logan thing in the Guardian. The BBC currently don't have a superb record in the way they treat women presenters. Our own Amanda was recently employed to present Top Gear, the motoring magazine show. http://www.snotr.com/video/3756/Women__Don_t_Drive I'm sure she wasn't portrayed in a fair light.

I don't see a problem with broadcasters, whether male or female dressing for success. Male broadcasters can get away with a suit & tie, but women have to worry about the clothing, hair & shoes. Personally I would rather watch Gabby Logan than Candy Crowley.

That is probably Riz Lateef - and yes nice she does wear some nice boots and heels.

That's the one! Good ol' Riz. She doesn't seem to present much these days though. And BBC London seems to have changed their sets so we no longer can see what kind of shoes the presenters are wearing.
