Heelfan Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Hello Everyone! Well, the very first thing to say is "Where were all the Midlands members, Huh?". Having had the last three meets further South (Oxford, London and London), we ESPECIALLY held this one in Birmingham in response to request by various Midlands members. And yet all the members who did turn up (with the exception of Midlander Calv who comes to all of the meets anyway), were Southerners who had taken the trouble to come all the way from Hampshire, London, Bristol and Berkshire up to Birmingham! FULL MARKS to the Southerners! NUL POINTS to the Midlanders (except Calv)! Red Mountain attended in thin-heeled black boots but gave his wife's apologies (swollen glands); Simon appeared in super thin Louis heeled courts and later purchased and wore some great tan leather knee boots with dark brown high tapered stacked heels; Calv treated us to his black wedge-heeled loafers, Dr. Shoe and Ruth strolled hand-in-hand both wearing great stiletto-heeled boots (thigh-boots in Dr. Shoe's case), I started-off in my 4 1/2" thin chisel-heeled "Sabrina" boots, later changed into my Brantano "Principal" shoes and promptly broke the heel on the Bull Ring Mall's escalator and changed into River Island's "Blower" boots with 4 1/2" underslung thin Louis heels but which crippled me being still too small until I could get them home for stretching! As usual, the formidable Xaphod stole much of the limelight, broad-brimmed trademark hat on head, long leather coat flowing, below which his burgandy-coloured leather knee-boots with black blade-heels strode purposefully forwards, much to the astonishment and gasps of the thronging masses! We missed the all-pervading genial ambience of Firefox who couldn't squeeze in the Birmingham meet in between being in France the day before and attending a Bridge tournament the same afternoon. Ionic also gave apologies due to a health problem, and Francis was unable to cadge a lift with Firefox due to Firefox's prior engagement. Next time though - you three! Those of us present were all impressed by the sheer diversity of shoe fashions now available in the ladies' shoe shops - a myrid of colours, shapes heel styles etc. etc. However, as Xaphod has just commented on an adoining thread, now that we've done the Oxford, London and Birmingham shops in quick succession, unfortunately the same few chain stores (Next, New Look, Faith, River Island, Barratts, Office, Schuh etc.) are everywhere and the notion of meeting in different cities become pointless (especially when that city's locals don't turn up!). Still we enjoyed seeing each other again, the company and the chat, at we had a great fish, chips and beer lunch!). Still, I am sure that the Euro-Heel-Meet in Paris will hold new interests for us, both in the French shoe styles and in the cultural delights of the city. Also, of course, we look forward to being able to meet our Continental members, assuming a repeat of previous showings of members from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and elsewhere and we hope, from France itself of course! Well done to everybody that came to a very blustery Birmingham; and EVERYONE keep your eyes peeled for further Paris Heel-Meet postings in the very near future! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
Firefox Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Well done guys, and sorry I couldn't make it. I had a trip to Lille on Eurostar with my friend arranged the day before, and it was rather a long day to be facing yet another early start. Every time we've gone up to the Midlands or North, it seems we have had a poor showing from local people, so I think next time we should do the South or South West. Brighton, Bristol, Bournemouth or Southhampton all spring to mind as good venues.
Heelboykiz Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 come to banbury :> il turn up hehe long as it aint saturday =\ to many friends around ;p
Firefox Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 I'm personally not going to meet up with anyone who is under 16 and preferably over 18. Although what we do is quite innocent, and does not involve anything more than shopping or socialising, such is the extent of paranoia over adults meeting with "minors" through the internet, it's not wise to risk it. As, certain people, including lawyers acting on behalf of paranoid parents, delight in misconstruing things so they can earn lots of legal fees while persecuting innocent people. The law is being changed in GB to extend to cover people who don't even actually meet, but merely "intent" is sufficient. This is something all users of this website should bear in mind.
Bubba136 Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 This is percisely why we've always insisted that chatters in Jenny's chat room be at least 18. We have even included this requirement in the room's introduction. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
FGWJON Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 sorry i did nto make it,last minute emergency at home, look forward to seeing you all again soon. keen to meet other uk male heel wearers to try & boost my confidence to wear heels in public

Yes, 'no win no fee' has a lot to answer for. Regretably, for those under 18, I will avoid you like the plague, just in case some clever-a**e lawyer tries to get into my wallet ! Xa
new_look Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 mm, wheres theresblame theres a claim, so indeed be careful. But i cant see anyone young wanting to travel round the country for our meets. Speaking of meets, whats the next we have scheduled?
Firefox Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Strictly according to UK law, if the person is 16 or over it's OK to meet. 18 is more to do with drinking or viewing sexual material. However, like Xa, I'd say anyone thinking about coming to meet ups in the UK should be 18 or over, to be on the safe side.
Dr. Shoe Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 come to banbury :> il turn up hehe long as it aint saturday =\ to many friends around ;p Besides, I wouldn't want to run into my Mum! Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects.
Dr. Shoe Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 HI, HF, The other point I will make is that my shirt matched the boots ! Xa I did notice, Ruth and I both remarked on how co-ordinated you were! Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects.
Heelfan Posted December 2, 2003 Author Posted December 2, 2003 Many thank to Firefox, Ionic, FGWJon, Emma J Nation, Skirted UK, Daz, Daz30 and Yamyam for sending there apologies for being unable to attend the Birmingham Meet (much as they would like to have done!). Still, even without that army we had a decent enough sized gang to enjoy ourselves, and let's hope both contingents can look forward to further Meets together in 2004! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
MountainTop Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Hi Guys, I would just like to say thank you for the support of the group. Going out in a gang has enabled me to experiment with higher heels than I would wear on my own in my local town. Even in 4 inch stillettos durring the London/Oxford Street meet, I still couldn't compete with Xaphod's thigh high set. This time in Birmingham in Burgandy knee high Blades, Xaphod just kept on stealing the lime light, I didn't notice anyone admiring my heels because all the womens eyes just kept following him around. Now when I go out in 2 or 3 inch heels I am relaxed and confident. Its no real big deal once you have shopped in a gang of 10 stilletto clicking blokes. But again I wouldn't of reached this point of progress unless we had all met up and took the risk. If their are any blokes out there thinking of stepping out, I would highly recommend coming to a meeting with the gang. The Gang are friendly, relaxed, very knollageable on footware, especially Doctor Shoe who studyed manufacturing footware at collage. They are a well rounded lot, much more ordinary than one would image except for our common appriciation of high heels. At the coffee bar in Birmngham, I was so relaxed in my heels chatting away to the lads I felt like I had known them all 10 years. I have done 3 meetings now and I am begining to wonder what of the fuss is about. Get your heels out, mark the date and get on down to a meeting, you will be suprised once you take the plunge, how the fear is much worse than the reality. I thank you once again Guys for helping me over come my fear, and now I am FREE to wear my heels out any where. It is such a good feeling. Regards MountainTop
