Pete
I think I have done enough search and research without satisfying results to warrant asking for help. I have been looking for a pair of heels to wear around the house. Just plain simple low to medium plat round closed toe plats. Very common on todays market? Not with a 4 1/2 to 5 inch actual rise.(Preferably 5) I also don't want to spend my retirement fund getting them. New or used, makes no diff. Mike Hinch
Really missing something here. It says Not with a 4 1/2 to 5 inch actual rise so does that mean want less of a rise. This does not appear too difficult to me to find so I must be missing something.
Guest
I think Pete is looking for the higher rise - 4.5" to 5", as it is more common to find a rise at 4" on the highestreet or malls. That little extra is either an oddity or reserved for the exotic market. I have a couple of pairs (non/platformed) that are 4.5"/4.75" lift but found more by luck than websearching. Just don't give up, most likely they will appear when least expected. Al
Mike Hinch
Now that does make sense. Still the part about wearing them around the house is a bit creepy to me because like I have stated wearing ones high heels inside only impresses me as a pervert kind of thing but I am wearing my five inch heels mostly only inside not that I feel they are not proper to go out but I still need practice and they do get easier every day. Also that thing about how to keep from tipping over that gets better too with less of a tendency to tip over on my face. Still with me I like that platform. Not really for any extra height but when a thin sole flat like Keds or the like the whole thing is soft and good for intended purpose. But when we get the heel in the equation then we need stiffness and when the stiffness ends and the toe pat is soft that to me feels cheep. Got two pairs of similar pumps on pair no platform and the other with a platform of nearly half an inch but that extra thickness makes the whole thing stiff and that is what I like. Haven't you ever heard of people who are in the closet? There are people around who, for one reason or another, do not wear heels outside. This probably equates to 80% of the membership here. This is either through choice or fear of what discovery will bring. It is not up to you to judge these people or to call them perverts. Heelster
If I am interpreting your original post correctly, your looking for a shoe with no or minimal platform, and a true 4-1/2" to 5" height. Not expensive, and would probably need to try it on in a somewhat comfortable location. Based on this, where I would be looking is your local exotic adult boutique. May seem like a strange suggestion at first, but they are likely to have exactly what your looking for. Example. The Ellie model 8220 comes in a variety of colors although most shops will have black, white and red. Most shops have these at about $26.00 a pair. Some locations may be willing to order in specific sizes and models for you to try on, and yes, most of these locations have guys who are 'trying and buying'. http://www.ellieshoes.com/pic/8220-large.jpg Check out the attached links but keep in mind these companies are usually catering toward adult boutiques and the dancers. Still there are some nice designs, and there are a few of us guys who own some of these styles. http://www.ellieshoes.com/showcase/default.asp http://www.ellieshoes.com/showcase/regular.asp?div=5&WebFormat=12&PW=120&PH=120 http://www.pleaserusa.com/index.asp http://www.pleaserusa.com/%5Cregular.asp?div=1_PLEASER&dpt=14_HIGH_S&WebFormat=12&PW=150&PH=

benno
Pete, What size feet do you have? If they are within the range of the average womens shoe shop then you can buy some shoes from almost any fashionable shop. Go into a shop and try some heels on. It's the best way to avoid disappointment. Edited August 1, 2012 by benno

It's the best way to avoid disappointment. That's a great idea if you live in an area that has such shops. I would have to travel toward a major metropolitan city to do that. You don't get 4" and above very often at a Walmart or Payless. JCPenney and Kohls are 45 to 60 minutes out, and they don't stock some of the better designs locally. Point is, the selection available locally doesn't reflect what you might see online.

Heelster
Heelster, you make it sound like a chore to go and do something that should be great fun. Kinda is these days. When your working nights, 60 plus hours on 6 days, leaves one night a week with the little lady - - - who doesn't shop like most women. make it a 7 day work week and it drains you fast. For me to make a 2 to 3 hour round trip anywhere during the week really screws up whats left of a day anymore.
