5 3/4" vs 6" Pleasers

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know its only a 1/4" difference but I'm having trouble deciding between 5 3/4" Pleasers

http://www.pleaserusa.com/ProductDetail.asp?div=1_PLEASER&dpt=30_MID_P&ctg=5T_DELIGHT&STYLE_CD=DELIGHT-601&PROD_CD=DEL601%2FC%2FSCH

and 6" ones.

http://www.pleaserusa.com/ProductDetail.asp?div=1_PLEASER&dpt=30_MID_P&ctg=6_KISS&STYLE_CD=KISS-201&PROD_CD=KISS201%2FC%2FM

I'm used to 5" high heel clogs or wooden sandals so this is a departure for me. Maybe from looking at porn too much, I've gotten attracted to platforms, which was never the case for me growing up. Now I'm keen to get a pair of black platforms sandals with stiletto heels and a clear strap.

Does anybody have Pleasures or can recommend a different brand with a similar style? Also, any recommendations on where to buy?

Thanks,

Marky

Both appear to have the same 4" rise, so the 5 3/4" Delight gets you a 1 3/4" platform; the 6" Kiss a 2" platform. If I had to guess, I wouldn't think you could notice the 1/4" height difference. However, never wearing platforms that high, I'd defer to others which have. I'd recommend endless.com . They do appear to sell the Pleasers; they offer free initial and return (if needed) shipping, and you can return within a year (unworn) if needed.

Can you provide details on why you like the Delight heel better than Kiss? I'm really obsessing over this for no good reasons. I'll probably end up going with the Delight since these are my first platforms and not sure I need the extra height. However, I think the heels of Kiss look a bit sleeker cause of the extra height. Four pairs means you really, really like the Delights. Care to share which colors on the base and strap?

I was intrigued by imroter's preference, since at initial glance I thought both shoes were basically identical (except for the height). So I pulled up both shoes on endless.com (which gives you 7 different views, and allows you to zoom in). My preference would be for the Kiss shoe. The major difference I can see is in the heel shape. The Pleaser has a slow arch (at the rear of the heel) for almost the entire heel, also isn't 100% vertical at the front. Combined, they produce a heel that's very narrow at the bottom, and constantly flares out as you go up it. The Kiss heel looks much more traditional to me. The front of the heel is almost completely vertical, and the rear of the heel is basically straight from about the height of the front platform down to the ground. I don't think this is because of the extra heel height, just the design of the shoe. The shoes are virtually similar that wearing them, I'm not sure you could tell the difference between the two.

Thanks for the tip on endless.com. It's 7 views a great for getting a sense of the shoes. Also, the prices are good and competitive or better than ebay. Interesting that Kiss is more expensive than Delight.

I agree with you about the heel, but am wondering if I'll be happy with the extra platform since I'm not used to wearing platforms and 5 inchers has been my max. Maybe I'm agonizing over them so much since I feel guilty about getting a pair.

I doubt on almost any shoe, a 1/4" difference would be noticeable. Not sure how accurate the pictures on endless.com are, but the Kiss heal tip seems to look larger than the Delight one. If true, in my opinion that would more than offset the extra height difference. Although I know you said you want the clear strap model, I picture is as being a bit inflexible, perhaps alway sharp at the edges. If you're already pushing your height range, I wonder if maybe the ones with the leather (I'm sure leatherette!) strap may not be a better choice. Maybe imroter can comment on this.

The heel of the Delight is a little 'thicker' at the top and thats what i like better, the overall shape is more round. As for the clear part, it is quite stiff. I have a pair fully clear and the do need quite some time before the clear top becomes flexible. Temperature is also a big influence.

I saw a difference between the two labels on "ENDLESS ". The brand tag on both not the same . The one with the star on the back is well known , the other is uncommon to me . I have several pairs of pleaser , but none of the one without a star . Prutske255

i found the Kiss heel sexier and lighter but i also prefer the feel of the Delight double sloped insole (on top of the heel) over the slightly curved Kiss insole. if i have to choose then i go for the Kiss.

Interesting. Please say more about the double sloped insole? Is it somehow flatter underneath the heel and therefore more comfortable? I take it you have both styles. Does Kiss make you feel that your leaning forward slightly.

hi stiletto5, i don't own the shoes you mention, but after giving a closer look to these platforms i realized that i would love to have them both... i've experimented with similar types of insoles and i found the "Delight type" a little bit pleasant as it accommodates the arch of my feet better and helps to distribute the weight more evenly between the heel and the ball which is cool if you want to be standing for a while. i would reccomend you to try both models if you can just to be sure which one fits better and looks better too. beyond my previous arguments, i prefer the Kiss as the type of heel is way sexier. let us know your impression after the purchase.

Its funny, many of you are talking about very subtle differences in shape and angles, etc. To me they look virtually the same as far as the shape and angle of the shoe. The factor that would matter to me, is one is silver, and one is clear. I wouldn't care much for a silver shoe, but the clear ones might be interesting enough for me to try them out (for kicks), although I don't care for shoes with more than a 1" platform anyway. Anyway, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here about everyone focusing on the very smallest of details, and not one of you mention the clear vs silver base/heel on the shoes.

i don't get it, i thought we were talking about the shoes in the attachment...

Ahh how interesting, was looking at the original links in the first post (focusing on the first picture of each link). Rats, I missed the mention of the black ones and then the later links to the black ones specifically, my bad :)

OK, I like either of those black ones much more than the ones I was looking at

Thanks again for the tip on endless.com. I ended up getting the Pleaser Kiss style from them at $35.95. The Delight style, which is 1/4" shorter, was actually $10 more so I went with Kiss since the Great Recession is upon us.

I wear men's 8 1/2 which usually translates to 9 1/2 woman's with size 10 being the upper bound. Since Kiss didn't come in half sizes, I went with size 10.

When I tried them on, the length was pretty good, but the width was so narrow that my toes were scrunched up by the plastic strap. Usually size 10's are roomy or too big. I guess I'll need size 11's. endless.com's free returns with shipping are key here.

Can anybody else share their experiences with Pleaser sizing?

I prefer the lace up oxford style, but I wear a larger size and here is what I found.

I bought a pair of Ellie brand - Amber 557's with a 5 inch heel and 1 1/2 inch platform for a net heel height of 3.5 inches- size 14 fit me very well. This is a thicker heel and a rounded toe.

I then wanted to go to a higher heel so I bought the Ellie Oxford 652 model with a 6.5 inch heel with a 2.5 inch platform for a net heel height of 4 inches, again in size 14. These were very tight. I think this was because the toes were pointy on the Oxford 652 and round on the Amber 557.

Unfortunately size 14 is the largest size Ellie makes in this model. After speaking with the customer service rep of Beverly Heels (the folks here have been wonderfully helpful) I purchased the Pleaser model 560 in size 15. These have a 5 1/4 inch stiletto type heel and a 1.5 inch platform for a net heel height of 3.75 inches. It wasnt quite as high a heel as I wanted, but they fit great.

I did note that moving up that 1/4 inch and going to a stilletto type heel, these are a bit harder to walk in, but they sure do look great.

I also noted and this was confirmed by the cust service rep that the heel and platform heights that are quoted by the manufacturer are not exact.

Not quite on topic, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
