  1. Well, what can I say? I've been quiet here too - as Julietta said, we've had a wonderful summer together, but now we have to sort out. I'm not going to be around much either, as I sort the stuff I need to sort. I'd also like to thank everyone here, and I hope to be back soon. It depends on how things work out. But I too have met someone truly wonderful, who's given me far more than I can ever return. So, all I can say is that I've found my dreams, and I'm waiting to live them once more. Thanks, everone, but especially Julietta :-)>-<

  2. I agree. I'm sneaking my 2.25" Chelsea boots into my working life at the moment. I've worn them to a customer and had no comments, so next I plan to see how they look with my suit, and take it from there. After that - well, with Julietta's help, I bought a suit with longer trouser legs that might go well with my 4" wedge boots

  3. I almost always wear jeans with my heels. I have several pairs of jeans that I bought as longer jeans to hide my heels. That's because it's a style I quite like. I sometimes change into heels with a suit, and in that case, more of my heels show, because my suits have shorter legs. I personally think jeans and heels is a great style, and it definitely works for me. I may experiment with shorter jeans, but at the moment I'm happy with what I have. I haven't noticed any looks about 'what's he hiding?' so I'm guessing that the style seems to work in most people's eyes.

  4. I think that lower heels are a more practical way to start, and also make a nice change. I love evenings out in my 4" heels, but I've also enjoyed spending all day and all evening in my 2.25" Chelsea boots. Both are enjoyable, just different. At the moment I've got some 3" wedge heel boots on, which I'll probably wear most of the day. I bought them deliberately as all-day wear. If I could, I'd try to wear 4" all day, but I doubt I'll get there for a while. In the meantime, practical lower heels are a good way for me to go. As for pink 6" courts - well, pink isn't really my colour, but I know someone who might be convinced

  5. I appreciate that nervousness is a problem, but as long as you seem confident, it'll be fine. I've had several wonderful shopping experiences, where I've had long conversations with staff and once or twice with other shoppers. The only one where I thought 'what am I doing?' was in my local Barratts. I was the only person in there, I think, with two staff on. They ended up both helping me as I bought a pair of boring work shoes and a pair of PVC knee boots with big heels! I even got some money off for spending so much at one go! I think that practice will get you over the nervousness. After that, you'll have much more fun buying and wearing your heels!

  6. As I've said here before, I don't think gender is that well defined. I'm happy being me, and I respect others being themselves. One of the wonderful things about the Internet is that you can talk to people, exchange views, hopes, fears, and a lot more besides, without unnecessary details of your body necessarily being involved. I don't think it matters what bits people were born with, it matters how they interact with you. So, on that basis, and in my opinion at least, let's leave it to individuals to decide if, how, and when they decide to reveal their gender. As long as people are making sensible contributions, then all of those contributions should be welcomed and valued. Let's keep welcoming, valuing and learning. Oh, and I generally stay out of posting in the 'For Women' section of the forum, as I think that it's defined as a place for those people who call themselves women. But I value everyone's contributions everywhere.

  7. for those with sizes upto size 8, MKone do a nice block heel boot called 'Gerbill' (strange name i know) heel about 4.5in, + v mini plat with a sq toe. made me feel much more comfy in streetheeling and they do feel quite high.

They also have a nice pair of stiletto boots with the same height heel for the not so discreet heelers

I didn't think that MKOne did shoes! I may pop down there sometime soon.

Logo also do great shoes in amongst the clothes, but they're based in the North. Ideal for any Manchester-based readers, tho'.

  8. I know what you mean about some women. I once had an interesting experience in a shop where two women waved at the heels on show and said "Who wears these? I'd never be able to move in those!" I wasn't quite brave enough to say 'Me!' They were nice 3" courts, and fitted me well in a UK8, but I was a little stuck for time, so I didn't get them.

  9. Thanks for that, Julietta! I know I know all of this, but it's nice to be reminded sometimes. I agree with FF, it's easy to get cynical with these 'sent to everyone you know' things, but sometimes I forward those on to a few special people. I have something like 400 contacts in my email systems, both work and private, so sending to everyone I know would take more time than I have, I think

  10. Brantano is new on me as well and, I was looking and agree with you, the store locator function on their webby is worse than useless.

There does appear to be a second one in Ponders End, Enfield which is barely London.

There are three more out to the north west in Ruislip, Greenford and Borehamwood and others in the home counties. Depends which route you are heading in from.

Large 'retail shed' type shopping doens't exist in the inner part of the city at all.

As far as I know, the point of retail shed shopping is that it doesn't exist in the inside of the city. There are fantastic places to go shoe shopping in the city - I just wish I hadn't been so lost when I found them. There's always Carnaby Street, a quite famous location, and there's lots around. Why not just ask a local resident for directions?

Alternatively, Borehamwood, Enfield, Ruislip and Greenford are easy to reach on the train, and you can probably get taxi or bus to the retail parks from there. I'd probably have a go at just asking locals and wandering around, myself.

    Best of luck with it!
