  1. I might not be able to make it in January with the way things have turned out. I like gunwharfe quays though. There's a Mexx woman shop where we've bought lots of nice clothes - and a branch of Monsoon where almost half the shop was £5. Mrs. F bought four of exactly the same silk dress for £10 as we thought that would almost be the cost of dry cleaning. I live in Horsham. Nice place but very conservative, Mrs. F isn't keen on my going out of the house dressed up. Not that I'm alowed to go out stark naked either (just adding that for sake of completeness).

  2. Just a quick note to say that Fog and I met in Paradiso for lunch.

Fog was wearing leggings, a corset and a short skirt with flat knee-high boots. I wondered about the practicality of corset-wearing, especially as I normally have an 'eat as much as you like' buffet at Paradiso.

Agreed, but I know what I'm like. I've lost nearly a stone in the past three months and I want it to stay that way and continue. So I had one of the smallest eat as much you like buffets in the history of the world, or at least in my life. Actually, I saw a smaller platefull than mine on the table next to me, but I think eating less and exercising more is the secret of staying slim, fit and healthy. It's the first time I've been out for so long in the corset. Eating a meal - even a small one - is a challenge in a corset - so it was an experience. By the time we got to Liberty I was starting to feel the corset so I took it off and also changed into a pair of silver shorts. We had good fun shopping, and in some shops they had a serious go at selling to us.

As I've mentioned in other posts I'm no longer wearing heels. The forecast was for a dire day, so I bought a pair of mid calf black shiny pvc boots. Tasteful I hear you say! Well I thought they looked good with my two pairs of tights, H&M red brown 70 denier, and a pair of sparkly tights of unknown provenance raided from Mrs. F's drawer. I think I bought them for her for Christmas a couple of years ago - they've now got a slight ladder - sorry.

Working in retail can be boring, when I worked in the classical department at HMV we all had our favourite customers, the characters, people who we'd spend five minutes chatting to, and I think it must be the same in shoe shops. Guys wearing heels stand out, and as long as you don't stand out in the wrong way - by that I mean look like a fertive purve - you add a little bit of variety to their day.

After a while shoes all start looking the same to me. Did I say that! Yes I did, a couple of beers was a welcome relief. A couple of pints of London Pride without a corset on. After that we had a look in Selfridges. I'd decided to go home quite early and I said goodbye to Xa and went to the loo before I left. Whilst I was in there I thought what the heck and put the skirt and corset back on. With the intention of having a look at the clothes shops. I had a little look around, but after half an hour my bladder called me back to Selfridges and their well kept toilets. I tidied myself up and went back out, I was surprised by the number of positive comments I received. They were dishing out Cava (I don't know why they call Cava Champagne!) and chocolates so I wandered around the cosmetics counters glass in hand.

So that's about it. The countdown sign had a phantom bus on it. A prediction for route 73 to Victoria station dissapeared at four minutes, which was a bit annoying, but never mind I got straight on the Gatwick Express skirt flowing through Victoria Station Concourse. I took more of a risk of seeing colleagues on my way into London at mid day. I didn't see them, they might have seen me, but what the heck - if they did it would give them something to talk about and add to the variety of their day.

  3. I'm up for a trip to Brighton - it's not far for me, but the only snag is that I'm not getting to see this forum that much as I've broken my computer, it will be a couple of weeks before it's fixed. I'll look in later this week. I've got a flexi day I can take between now and the first weekend of December, but weekends are out as I'm too busy.

  4. On Wednesday afternoon I broke my computer - cracked the screen, so I wasn't sure whether the meet would happen. Also I haven't been able to have my fix of hhplace - I'm at an internet cafe now. Anyway back to the day, Tara rang me at 4.30 on the dot and we met up.

Tara was looking lovely, corseted and wearing skinnyhigh waisted jeans, topped by a black leather jacket with assymetric zip and black stilleto knee boots. I'm not sure that she approved of my attire; male black coat and fairly smart sweatshirt, with silver shorts, silver glittery tights, flattish knee high boots and a red shiny scarfe.

We had tea at Pret in Carnaby street - and strenght recovered we did a few of the shoe shops near Oxford Circus.

It was nice to meet up, the rest of the evening was fun too, shopping on my own. It fits more properly in another thread though.

  5. Thanks for your kind comments. I am very proud of them, I bought them in a sale about two years ago and wore them out of the shop. It was one of my first times out with boots visible ouside my trousers. I posted the story then - when I get my computer mended (I'm in an internet cafe at lunch time) I'll post a link to the story if anyone's interested. The instrument is a tenor viol - it's tuned more or less like a guitar only the bottom and top strings are D on the bass and treble and G on the tenor. The only difference is that assuming guitar tuning the third string g would be tuned to f#, down a semi tone. There were lots of tunings possible when the music was written in tablature - circa 1600 - 1660, some of them are quite simple - like chaning it to guitar type tuning with the bottom string down a note or chord tunings, like the ones used in steel guitars - or more bizzare bagpipe tunings all fifths and octaves. Sorry guys, the majority of this post isn't about boots. The boots go with the instrument though. All I need is a cavalier's shirt with big sleeves to wave around with the bow strokes.

  6. I met up with Tara after a course I was attending near Oxford Circus. We shopped for a while and after we'd parted I carried on with my Christmas shopping for Mrs F. I was wearing silver glittery tights, silver shorts and black flat knee boots. It is frustrating looking at heels in shops and knowing you can't wear them any more - never mind. I was enjoying myself. I had a look in Selfridges, tried a bit of concealer for my eyes - at £27 a pop it didn't have the slightest effect. I then went into M&S (not to be confused with S&M) - walking through the store a young female assistant looked me up and down and said "nice". I thanked her - she was charming and told me she liked my scarfe as well. I then went into one of the myriad of discount clothing shops that are at the Marble Arch end of Oxford Street. There I bought a skirt for Mrs. F, but tried it on - to make sure it fitted. It was very thin cotton, and very short, with a bit of a flair at the bottom. The mirror was outside, so buoyed up with confidence I stepped out of the cubicle to give myself the once over. I liked what I saw, bought two of the skirts. I went back to the changing room and put one of them on, and continued myshopping wearing a skirt. What amazing fun! I enjoy the freedom of wearing shorts and tights and showing my boots to all and sundry, but wearing a mini skirt with the outfit was something else. I took my coat off whenever I was inside, and some of the time I was outside. A couple of security guards in Primark said "dear dear" and I got barged by some of them who were chasing someone. I must say they're most rude, I heard a coarse voice behind me saying get out of the way, and I side stepped, only to be barged full on by someone of prop forward dimensions. All in all a fun evening's shopping - and one which I hope to repeat in the very near future.

  7. Bootylicious - I really like the Paolo Biondini boots - I want a pair for myself. They look like great street heeling boots. Here's some pictures of my new Jean Gaborit "Emily" boots that I received last week.

Bootopia - those are great boots. Nice floor and wall tiles in pics 2-4 as well.

  8. I'm on a course near Oxford Street on Thursday as luck has it, I finish around 4.30 or so and had planned to do a bit of Christmas shopping as I was there. I'd be glad to meet up, however I'm not wearing heels at the moment, hope that's ok, but I'll try to wear boots.

  9. I'm not giving up for a long time yet. I got no probs @73 Who'se a lucky guy then!

    Muddypaws.

You are a lucky guy! Since this post I had one trip out in heels and suffered for about a fortnight after it. Actually I managed about fifty yards before I had to return to the car and put some flats on.

I've since bought myself a nice pair of flat knee boots to cheer myself up.

  10. I had a very short walk out in my 5" thigh boots in Bromley on Tuesday lunch time. It was pouring with rain, and I'd brought with me a black shiny woman's coat for the purpose. The outfit looked good, but I really couldn't go far. My right leg was fine, but I was having problems with the left. There was nothing for it but to go back to the car and get a pair of flattish knee boots. Didn't look half as good as you could see my trousers between the top of the boots and the bottom of the coat. Didn't protect me from the rain as much either. I've been having problems walking since then. I fear another trip to the osteo is due. There's no need to tell me 5" is a bit high for occasional wear. I'm looking for a nice pair of flat thighboots.

  11. I don't know about drawing the heat, I was conscious of a few looks, but felt I was being ignored and didn't feel particularly in danger. I'm sorry I didn't arrive on time, but I think three hours of shopping without any money would have bored me a bit, and as I remarked - I think to Firefox, I don't need any other boots, I've never found any I like more than the ones I was wearing. Here's a camera phone picture of the view from the pub. The long horizontal thing is the russian submarine.

  12. I'd have thought it would have taken more than that to shock Tara! If you're going to wear heels, you might as well really wear them! I didn't write down where we were going - and I always get Bluewater and Lakeside mixed up - they both have an aqueous reference, the last time there was a lakeside meet I went to bluewater by mistake. I had some work to finish off at home in the morning. I ended up at Bluewater - the correct place - late, and couldn't find the food court - there are three, I looked in all of them and no-one was to be seen. I suspected that I'd got the venue wrong and tootled off to Lakeside. I looked in the food court - in Lakeside they do have a restaurant called the food court, but no one was there. I walked around for over an hour and gave up. I thought I'd have one more look in Bluewater, and after a bit of walking around and enquiries in shoe shops established I was in the right shopping centre. At Dolcis they told me they'd seen my mates about a couple of hours ago - so it was only a matter of time. I eventually met up with Fox and Euchrid, then Tara and friends. By then I wasn't in the mood for shopping - which I can't think of as a group activity. I've got quite enough boots and am a bit short of cash. In the end it turned out to be quite a cheap day - £2 for a misguided trip over the Dartford Crossing and £3 for a pint of Guinness at a pub that didn't sell Real Ale. Never mind the tranny friendly, beer is what pubs are for. It was in a stunning location on the edge of an industrial estate, but overlooking the Medway towards Rochester, with a Soviet Submarine moored not far away. I wonder if Firefox took a picture of it, the one I took with my phone wasn't very good.
