  1. Jaral, Bubba, I've got a pair just like that only in pale blue. I got mine in Strutton Ground Market in London. They were only a fiver, which made them a bargain. As Bubba says they are very comfortable, however Mrs F won't let me go out in them. She's the sensible one! They are a fiddle to lace up but nice when they're on.

  2. I think I've been quite lucky recently, I managed to buy two pairs of boots in sales recently. A pair of 4" tan knee boots in Faith, very comfortable for walking in. A good find. The other pair were in the Dolcis sale, a pair of fawn slouch boots with a 2" kitten heel (can I discuss these here?). Not really high heel, but I've wanted a pair for a while and these were a perfect fit. But I didn't buy them, I thought about how many pairs of shoes I'd bought over the last three months and I had a vague feeling that they'd be reduced again. The next time I was there they were nowhere to be seen, and that started a hunt in all the Dolcis branches I could find, without success. What I couldn't understand was when I went back to the start point Dolcis in Croydon last Thursday there was a pair in my size. I didn't hesitate this time. I've probably got enough boots to wear until the winter sales. That'll be fun!

  3. I've never liked the look of knee highs, but since I've started wearing heels have found them to be a practical solution for hot weather. Suspender tights are a much nicer though, you have the feel of tights all the way up your legs, but they're a lot cooler and more comfortable.

  4. Thank you all for your kind words. I am indeed a lucky man in every way!!! It is really nice to have Mrs. F's opinion as a sense check. I try only to wear what she finds attractive. However there are some things she finds attractive that she won't let me go out in. Probably just as well!

  5. I didn't bring you quite up to date. We went shoe shopping today Mrs F needed a pair of sensible sandals and / or court shoes for work. We went into Clarks in Croydon. She got what she wanted - but whilst she was trying them on I noticed a pair of size 7 patent black boots with a silver 3" heel. I tried them on, she wispered a very loud "NO" but it was too late. The next thing the assistant noticed, but by then she'd called all her colleagues to have a look. An older assistant asked if I she could sell me a handbag, to which I replied, no can you get me the other foot. But she didn't. Mrs F coped with the attention very well. It was a bit of fun. We discussed the footwear I was wearing 21/2" blade heel shoes from Dolcis. She said she'd noticed the shoe but not the heel. I was wearing quite long bootcut jeans from new look, which hid most of the heel. Perhaps this should go on the best and worst experience thread, but I don't think I've been out enough to have a best or worst experience. Most people don't notice. I think if you're buying heels it gives you a bit more credibility if you go shopping in heels. I didn't buy the boots in the end, they were a tat tight, and I couldn't see me wearing them too often.

  6. Thank you all for your replies.

I was trying to include a quote, but sorry to say it defeated me. It's probably the poxy little laptop I've got, it's almost impossible to highlight the text that I wanted to include.

I wanted to respond to Daz's point about my gf. She's fine about my heels, I think because I've been scrupulously honest with her. I should I suppose tell a bit more of my story.... I'd lurked here back last summer 2003 and realised there were guys here like me. I bought a pair of 8" platform oxfords from an internet site, they were ok but didn't fit well and cost far too much, the tax got me! When I got together with Mrs fogborkenvv (for want of a better name) I hid them in the attic.

Jumping on a few months, one evening we'd been shopping, (we love shopping) in Monsoon, and she'd bought a pair of black silk trousers that were too long for her. One evening we were discussing it and I asked to try them on. That shocked her and we said no more about it for a couple of weeks, but I was most surprised when we were shopping in H&M when she presented me with a pair of shiny silver trousers and said "They'd look good on you". We did quite a bit of shopping after that! A few weeks later I plucked up the courage to tell her about the shoes. It was a really really sweaty moment. I put them on and she hated them. I felt so foolish standing in 8" pvc shoes of dubious quality. The outcome was I agreed to throw them away. I'd never been out in them and really they were a bad buy. Now here's the good part of the story. A couple of weeks later she came home from work telling me about a street market she'd found where there were several stalls selling boots and shoes, and, she had a present for me. A pair of 3" heel black ankle boots. they fitted perfectly and are really comfy. She followed this up with a pair of 4" cream ankle boots that didn't fit as well. My next purchase was the first I made myself, from a market stall near where I work. I bought her a pair of size 5 gold ankle boots and myself a pair of baby blue lace up 4" stiletto boots. I plucked up courage and said "these are for me". That was a tenner well spent!

So far I hadn't bought anything that I'd tried before parting with the cash. That was to come in May. We went to Brittany and then a few days in Paris. We stayed near Gare du Nord - and went shoe shopping. I saw a lovely pair of brown stilletto mid calf boots with the zip up the back, I decided it was daft to spend €15 on something that might not fit and decided to try them on.

Mrs f went elsewhere and I tried them on. The girl was surprised but was helpful and pleasant. They were a bit tight and she suggested that I took my socks off but then she noticed my tights.

Mrs f (she's not my wife yet) still gets a little embarrassed, but it doesn't matter really.

I'm lucky to have such a wonderful girlfriend who truly loves me and accepts me for who I am. That sort of thought has been expressed many times on this forum and that's why I like it. For me telling her that I read a forum on high heels was as scary as telling her I owned a pair. She's read and approved of much that she's read. Another little thought. I'm glad there's no porn allowed here. There's plenty of other places you can find that. It's one thing telling a sceptical partner (and I know a lot of you have sceptical partners) It's one thing saying you look at a HH website, but quite another to say you look at a hh porn website.

Sorry this has been so long. What I should have done is cut it into bite size chunks - I'd be nearer to my 6" oxfords.

    Where's the spellchecker???

  7. I play the fiddle and treble and tenor viols. I've got five acoustic fiddles, my favourite is one I picked up in a street market in Luca for €250 after a bit of haggling. I've got a bridge electric fiddle that I play with a Pignose Hog 30. My treble viol is a Dolmetsch (sp?) circa 1972 and my tenor is a David Miles. I now play Enlish and Welsh and French traditional music on the fiddle, I did a stint of busking on the South Bank, under Blackfriars Bridge a couple of years ago, it was fun and helped me push the boundaries of what I can do. I was scared stiff at first, but got into the mindset that people were expecting to see a busker there so it might as well be me. Apart from that I play in pub sessions. On the viol I play English consort music, French baroquery is too difficult, despite the heels! I'm not sure I want to learn anything else, I haven't got the time to practice, I took up the viol about ten years ago and I found that a struggle.

  8. There's something of ritual involved in playing vinyl that you just can't get with CDs, the whole business of playing vinyl and the care you have to take over it. But, despite that CDs often don't come close. This came over to me starkly whilst listening to Vaughan Williams 8, the classic Boult version, with a score, looking at the bassoon line and hearing nothing. Out came the vinyl, not the original Decca, I'm sorry to say but a cheap Ace of Clubs re-issue, and lo and behold, the bassoons were there. I can't explain that. Perhaps a lot of it has to do with the mixing. I won't be chucking my vinyl out in a hurry!
