Has the date been set for this yet? We'd like to come if possible. I'm assuming this isn't a lads only event as my partner would like to come as well.

In Croydon yesterday it was vaguely in the right place, I think the customers have a lot to do with it shuffling the stock around.

I play the fiddle and treble and tenor viols. I've got five acoustic fiddles, my favourite is one I picked up in a street market in Luca for €250 after a bit of haggling. I've got a bridge electric fiddle that I play with a Pignose Hog 30. My treble viol is a Dolmetsch (sp?) circa 1972 and my tenor is a David Miles. I now play Enlish and Welsh and French traditional music on the fiddle, I did a stint of busking on the South Bank, under Blackfriars Bridge a couple of years ago, it was fun and helped me push the boundaries of what I can do. I was scared stiff at first, but got into the mindset that people were expecting to see a busker there so it might as well be me. Apart from that I play in pub sessions. On the viol I play English consort music, French baroquery is too difficult, despite the heels! I'm not sure I want to learn anything else, I haven't got the time to practice, I took up the viol about ten years ago and I found that a struggle.

There's something of ritual involved in playing vinyl that you just can't get with CDs, the whole business of playing vinyl and the care you have to take over it. But, despite that CDs often don't come close. This came over to me starkly whilst listening to Vaughan Williams 8, the classic Boult version, with a score, looking at the bassoon line and hearing nothing. Out came the vinyl, not the original Decca, I'm sorry to say but a cheap Ace of Clubs re-issue, and lo and behold, the bassoons were there. I can't explain that. Perhaps a lot of it has to do with the mixing. I won't be chucking my vinyl out in a hurry!

I'm 48, but since my birthday's on February 29th I'm only 12.

That's another nice thing about the Dolcis sale, everything's arranged by size, is that so there's no mistaking what you're looking for? It saves a lot of mucking about. I'll have to check out some other branches. They didn't have anything for £2 though in Croydon!

I had the same experience at Dolcis in Croydon this afternoon, everyone there was so helpful. This was the first time I've street heeled on my own. I've always been with my GF before (I'm so lucky), so I was a bit nervous on the walk from the carpark, I was clocked by a guy, oh dear, but by the time I got to the Dolcis sale I was enjoying myself. The sales assistants gave opinions on what suited me. I tried on several pairs of shoes, and a pair of slouch boots, with a 2 1/2" heel. They were size 7, I was surprised they fitted I'm around 71/2 uk and 41 generally fits perfectly, I was disappointed that none of the other size 7's came close. Try before you buy or it is a lottery.

I've got a lightweight nine. Mainly boots. A black pair of 3" blade heel ankle boots that my girlfriend gave me, she got them on a market stall. My first outing in heels was in them, down the road to a local restaurant. It all went well until on the way home we came across a friend walking his dog. My girlfriend loves dogs and started petting the animal. All eyes went towards the pavement a close call! Oh dear I've gone off topic already!! My other favourites are a pair of Baby Blue lace up stiletto ankle boots, I got them at Strutton Ground market for a fiver. They were the first I bought in person at the same time I got my SO a pair of gold stiletto ankle boots. I've got a lovely pair of dark brown mid calf boots with a zip up the back that I bought in a shoe shop near the Anvers Metro in Paris, they were in the crap rack outside. A lucky find as they're lovely quality and only 15euros. It was then I decided that I had to try anything I'd spend more than a tenner on. Ok guys call me cheap.

Hello everybody, this is my first post here, although I've been lurking for a while. I've really enjoyed the forum and am really glad to know I'm not alone. I had a fantastic weekend and just want to tell you about it. I went shopping with my girlfriend on Saturday afternoon and bought a pair of 4" knee high boots in Faith, my girlfriend saw them with me, liked them but disappeared when I tried them on. That was the first time I've tried shoes on in a crowded shop in England, it was a little scary, but it felt so good to do something I wanted to do which was just a bit beyond my comfort zone. I wore them out to Camden today and they were very comfy, that's another first for us, the Northern Line in heels. We both tried on boots, great fun, she came away with a pair of very sexy over the knee pvc boots.

Thank you all for your replies.
I was trying to include a quote, but sorry to say it defeated me. It's probably the poxy little laptop I've got, it's almost impossible to highlight the text that I wanted to include.
I wanted to respond to Daz's point about my gf. She's fine about my heels, I think because I've been scrupulously honest with her. I should I suppose tell a bit more of my story.... I'd lurked here back last summer 2003 and realised there were guys here like me. I bought a pair of 8" platform oxfords from an internet site, they were ok but didn't fit well and cost far too much, the tax got me! When I got together with Mrs fogborkenvv (for want of a better name) I hid them in the attic.
Jumping on a few months, one evening we'd been shopping, (we love shopping) in Monsoon, and she'd bought a pair of black silk trousers that were too long for her. One evening we were discussing it and I asked to try them on. That shocked her and we said no more about it for a couple of weeks, but I was most surprised when we were shopping in H&M when she presented me with a pair of shiny silver trousers and said "They'd look good on you". We did quite a bit of shopping after that! A few weeks later I plucked up the courage to tell her about the shoes. It was a really really sweaty moment. I put them on and she hated them. I felt so foolish standing in 8" pvc shoes of dubious quality. The outcome was I agreed to throw them away. I'd never been out in them and really they were a bad buy. Now here's the good part of the story. A couple of weeks later she came home from work telling me about a street market she'd found where there were several stalls selling boots and shoes, and, she had a present for me. A pair of 3" heel black ankle boots. they fitted perfectly and are really comfy. She followed this up with a pair of 4" cream ankle boots that didn't fit as well. My next purchase was the first I made myself, from a market stall near where I work. I bought her a pair of size 5 gold ankle boots and myself a pair of baby blue lace up 4" stiletto boots. I plucked up courage and said "these are for me". That was a tenner well spent!
So far I hadn't bought anything that I'd tried before parting with the cash. That was to come in May. We went to Brittany and then a few days in Paris. We stayed near Gare du Nord - and went shoe shopping. I saw a lovely pair of brown stilletto mid calf boots with the zip up the back, I decided it was daft to spend €15 on something that might not fit and decided to try them on.
Mrs f went elsewhere and I tried them on. The girl was surprised but was helpful and pleasant. They were a bit tight and she suggested that I took my socks off but then she noticed my tights.
Mrs f (she's not my wife yet) still gets a little embarrassed, but it doesn't matter really.
I'm lucky to have such a wonderful girlfriend who truly loves me and accepts me for who I am. That sort of thought has been expressed many times on this forum and that's why I like it. For me telling her that I read a forum on high heels was as scary as telling her I owned a pair. She's read and approved of much that she's read. Another little thought. I'm glad there's no porn allowed here. There's plenty of other places you can find that. It's one thing telling a sceptical partner (and I know a lot of you have sceptical partners) It's one thing saying you look at a HH website, but quite another to say you look at a hh porn website.
Sorry this has been so long. What I should have done is cut it into bite size chunks - I'd be nearer to my 6" oxfords.
Where's the spellchecker???
