  1. Hi all. Here is my latest purchase. Bandolino, size 11 US.. 4" heels. From The Shoe Department. They had numerous styles in sizes 11 and 12, as well as many in wide widths. They will get a lot of business from me! Well, for some reason I am unable to upload these pictures. I will try again later. Sorry!

  2. Burlington used to be a great source in my area, but in the last 18 months or so, just like so many other stores, they rarely have anything larger than a 10, and I just can't do a 10. So I barely even go in any more. Same with Payless. Why stop if there is nothing in your size. Don't these stores realize they are losing business? I could understand if, when they were carrying a decent stock of larger sizes, at the end of the season you'd find the sale racks full of hard to sell sizes 11 and 12. But geeze, even back then, a big size was hard to find on sale, as they all sold out quickly! The big sizes that were left were the same ugly shoes that you'd find a bunch of in smaller sizes...in others words, the ones no one lese wanted either! I just don't get it.

  3. HiH, as shownin my avatar, I tend to be stuck on the classic, thin sole, stiletto heel pumps and sandals. I also am just starting to get in to boots, and mainly because I can wear them in public very inconspicuously. But I'm working on trying to like other styles. I must say, however, that I've seen some stuff in fashion magazines that is not thrilling. Heels heights continue to be very high, but the heels are just straight square blocks, mostly at least an inch square, and they look pretty ugly to me. Oh well, I guess the thin heels have been around for some time now, so it's porbably time for thick ones for a while again. Just like the economy, heel types seem to go in cycles!

  4. I agree that they have been a good source of inexpensive heels in large sizes for many years. I also appreciate the fact that I can go try stuff on there without any hassel. But if they're not going to carry any stock in the stores, they're losing my business, as I'm not going to do the ship back and forth if things don't fit. And fit is one area that has been inconsistent at Payless, which is not surprising given the level of qaulity and price point they work at.

  5. In general, it is heels. But I have owned in the past a couple pairs of basically flat shoes (they did have a very light wedge like heels of probably no more than an inch or so). Actually, I find that it is the feminine style that I am attracted to, and for the most part the shoes I choose would certainly be "dress" styles. The flats were black patent leather, low cut, with a bow on the toe, so there was no mistaking that they were in fact women's shoes! I do occasionally try on a pair of flats, but haven't bought any. Casual type shoes or athletic type shoes hold no thrill for me.

  6. Payless ? No, I think Shoeless should be the name ! A few weeks back I visited two Payless stores in the area and they seemed to be "thinning" sizes 11,12 and 13 off the rack. The sales lady said she would be happy to order what I wanted. With Payless prices going up , the value is not what it used to be. For me a short trip to Zappo's outlet and few bucks more I can get brand names like Nine West, RSVP, Fitzwell and so on. The best part I do not have to order and wait. I can enjoy shopping and trying on shoes before The purchase.

Wow, there is a Zappos outlet store? What part of the world is that located in? I'm jealous!

  7. I was out yesterday with time to shop. I tried on heels at Target, DSW, Payless, Famous Footwear, Sears and JC Penney. Now mind you, I was not in the middle of a crowd, but there were people in the stores for sure. I did take a pass at Macy's and Carson Piere Scott, as they were a bit too crowded, with too many mom and kid combos that I just don't feel comfortable around. I also found a few paris that I wanted to try at Nordstrom, but the same crowd problems. I've heard that Nordstrom will allow you to use a back room. Has anyone tried that? On a down note, I found far fewer large sizes at Payless, and the Bandolino shop in the local mall has closed down. That bummed me out!

  8. Wow. I was out shopping yesterday and stopped in at two Payless stores. The selection of shoes in sizes 11 and 12 just keeps on shrinking. 12's are alomost becoming non-existent, especially if you are looking for a heel. Really too bad, as they have many nice styles available on the web, but I won't buy unless I try! They are losing sales!

  9. Actually, the fans of Chicago reacted by partying for several days. No riots, etc., thank God. And the party is still going! This has been an unbelievable event here in Chicago, and the Blackhawks players have made themselves so very accessible to the fans. Not the usual big headed, I'm too good for you athlete, just some young jocks partying on! These guys (the players) have endeared themselves to the people of Chicago for years to come.

  10. There's a lot of wisdom in this post. I've never understood why wearing high heels or not wearing high heels was a "big" point in determining suitability when choosing a woman as a mate (supposedly) for life?

Isn't personality, appearance, compatibility, intelligence, and self-reliance, amongst several other character traits, far more important?

Bubba, while I agree that all of those traits should be primary on one's list, if you have the overwhelming desire to see a woman in heels, if the one you choose doesn't or won't wear them, in the long run, you'll not be happy. While I have been a wearer for as long as I can remember, in recent years, after my wife had to stop wearing heels due to foot and knee problems, I have been much, much more active. I guess my wearing of heels is somewhat of a substitute for seeing her in heels. The shoes I buy for myself are the style that I like to see women wear, and that I used to buy for my wife. And sadly, and I say sadly because I know that I am a sad person for feeling this way, but I do believe that her inability to wear the type of shoes that I like has had a negative impact on my feelings toward her. So some of us, like it or not, do have to consider the wearing, or not wearing, of heels as part of determining the suitability of a potential partner. Maybe not an admirable trait, but one that just can't simply be ignored, either.

  11. There have been friends that have seen me in heels, but only as part of a Halloween costume, so that really doesn't count. Other than that, no one knows or has seen me in them, and as is the case with several others here, unless by accident, no one else will know.

  12. HF, terrific stuff as always. It's nice to have you back posting again! Personally, I love the look of those red sandals with the slacks and jacket. Your wife has great taste! Does she wear similar outfits? And as always, those Naturalizer t-straps look great. I think those are a nice choice, as the heel isn't ridiculously high, and the tickness of it looks good on a larger, male size leg (I'll never get over 4" spike heels, however, lol!) Looking forward to more in the future!

  13. Wow, HF, it's been a long time between postings for you, and apparently with good reason! I know you indicated awhile back that you were getting close with a wonderful lady, but married, I wasn't quite expecting yet! I am quite jealous that you found a life mate that enjoys and encourages your fashion sense! Best wishes for a long and happy relationship! It was nice to see some new pictures from you. Can't wait to see the four new pair you bought on your shopping trip. I know you'll need to go cautiously with posting here, but I hope you can continue to grace us with your fine photos of yourself wearing shoes that I can only dream of having the nerve to wear in public. Welcome back, and all the best!
