  1. You may be surprised to find that we moderators do take the problem seriously. However, if we were to moderate every sentence that could possibly offend another person then there would be no posts at all! Many arguments have started due to misunderstandings or someone misreading a comment. We don't condone the actions of the minority, but we're not here to hold hands either. Personally I would give the boot to anyone who infringes the rules and regulations or violates a persons liberties, but I must be fair and allow conversation to progress, only editing that which is blatant. We moderators are here to ensure your freedom on the forum and if we can help with a matter then do contact us concerning your greviance. None of us wish to have to resort to draconian measures where we have to vet every single message before if hits the forum. That is in nobody's interests. Personal attacks or very much frowned upon and we do take steps to reprimand the individuals involved. In all our time, we have only banned 1 user, due to uncivilised behaviour. The person was warned privately and then publically before being removed from our midst. If the general concensus is that we moderators should take a more active role, then we will. But, do not blame us when your posts are edited because we feel they attack a group of people. None of us wish to see Big Brother or Police State being enforced here, as I'm sure no-one wishes their right to freedom of speech to be removed from them. Just something to think on...

  2. Yes! Thanks very much for the tour! :) Very informative! Remind to book more than a few hours to go round next time! Bristol certainly is a lot more interesting than it first seems. So much to see! I suppose you locals will be almost immune to its charms  I'm going to check how the diary shapes up and will advise as to what dates I can make for the Bristol meet. I have to be done that way soon, so may as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Again, thanks very much Heelfan! And next time, I'll buy the teas! :D

  3. Bristol Templemead is our destination Most of us from the Northamptonshire area will be doing a lot of our own thing. Don't worry if some of the 'crowd' follow as they are used to seeing me in heels so won't be too phased by anyone else  They don't tend to argue much with what I do anyway :D my phone number is 07906280632 and will be on all day :)

  4. I have just received our proposed timetable

Diesel train departure from Kettering railway station 07.45 hours

Change to Steam engine at Bescot 9.43 hours -10.23 hours

    Arrive Bristol 13.25 hours

Steam departure from Bristol 18.12 hours

Diesel from Worcester Shrubb Hill 20.00 hours

    Arrive in Kettering 22.25 hours

Hopefully, we shall see a few faces there

    cheers

  5. Hi all not quite a heel meeting but a shout out to those of you in the Bristol area (Nigel, Nhoj, Heelfan to mention a few) Jackie and I shall be in town for a few hours after being hauled into Bristol on a steam excursion. I shall get the full itenary and post it so those of you who may wish to meet up, have a beer, a laugh and general lark then feel free to join. Heels are not compulsory, I won't be in wearing mode, not on a train full of enthusiasts  post if you may be attending :)

  6. Well !

The day went great ! Met a few new faces.

Just for the record here's the mugs gallery

left to right; Nigel, Nhoj62, Francis, Dr.Shoe, (I forgot your name, insert please)

picture was taken by Jackie, so if it's out of focus, it's her fault :)

Thanks to all who participated, raspberries to everyone who didn't !

Anyway, we all arrived at Hayway and checked out the bargains. Some of us came away with goodies, some of us didn't.

Dr. Shoe did a great impression of John Travolta with his stunning white outfit. Only kidding John!

A brief bit of shopping followed by some nattering and then we unfortunately said goodbye to Nigel and Nhoj. Nigel's daughter's birthday party was in the afternoon, so his raspberry talents were required :D Nigel knows what I mean :o Nhoj, of course, had to disappear, else it was a long walk back to the Bristol area.

A spot of lunch was needed, so the remaing 4 of us took off in the direction of the city centre to find something edible. We nearly succeeded! Fish and chips, which were welcome if a little overcooked. Afterwards we headed down the road to check out what was on offer at the variouys shoe shops. Dr.Shoe found something to his liking. Faith and Trend offered no interesting items, so we went round the market instead as well as some charity shops.

After a cup of tea we sampled some more of the city centre. We got round to New Look when Jackie had a panic attack, so that was the end for me  I made our excuses to Dr.Shoe and our other friend (you must tell us who you were) and went back to the railway station for our return trip.

Thanks for turning up, guys. We both enjoyed meeting you all.

    regards

    Francis & Jackie

  7. I have been unfortunate enough to have broken a heel. Xmas time 2 years ago, I was seeing some of our guests out when -crack- one heel decided to part company as well. Nothing I could about it right there and then, but a repair was definately needed. Firefox took them home to sort them out for me. The heel wasn't stiletto, it was more blade like, but heels will break no matter what the construction.

  8. Bravo, Gene !! :D Glad to see that intelligence is winning the argument. I have noticed that these replies you have highlighted consist of the "I know what I want" type girly posters. The unfortunate thing is that they will never be told anything to the contrary and the only way they can enhance their arguments is to offer a threat of violence in their reply. Doesn't this show how "open minded" they claim to be? Anyway, damn glad to see you back, Gene !

  9. I still have a load of vinyl 33's and 45's, and even though I now have nearly all those songs mp3'd I can't bring myself to dispose of the records. I guess it comes from an attachment to your youth (or what's left of it) and fishing the record out of it's sleeve and then removing it from it's inner lining to gently place it on a deck, moving the arm and gently placing that on the record just has a place in our hearts that warms us. far from the press, click, whirr, drop, push, whirr, click, press that you do with cd's, or even my most of my cases, double click, nothing will replace that manual interface between music and person that only vinyl can do. I guess it's the old romantic in some of us :D

  10. Hi there Youngwolf, interesting project, especially the choice of the class 13. I made a class 13 many years ago (1985) out of two Graham Farish 08's. I small amount of work was needed but a satisfactory result was made. Well, the customer liked it and the club made use of it, so it must have been passable :D I would like to know what area you are basing your layout on as class 13's were exclusively Sheffield Tinlsey hump yard shunters or is it just visiting for repair :D Keep up the good work. Although I'm a OO man and have no need to go back to N, I still enjoy seeing new projects come to fruition. see you out there
