Thank you all for your interest. It has been a long road, literally!

It has indeed, and I have really noticed in the past week how taking some time off from heels due to an injury of sorts has negatively affected my stamina in heels. I also do a lot of exercises and stretches to accentuate the good parts of heeling, such as stronger calves and ankles, and minimize the bad parts, such as tight leg muscles and restricted range of motion.

It is not a question of whether I will continue heeling (of course I will), but rather whether I will continue to take walks for the purpose of recording the mileage. I am not sure that I want to create a 2,000 mile goal. Probably, I will continue recording. If nothing else, it is interesting to find out which shoe repair materials turn out to be the most durable. Yes, I record that also.

Between your exercises and stretching, and the strengthening effect for calves and ankles of walking a thousand miles in heels, you probably have worked out a great fitness regime. I have a cycling challenge I have set myself, one involving a scary amount of hill climbing and mountain passes. I could probably do worse than incorporate the mlroseplant regime in my training!

Thought I would chime in on this thread based on my similar style.

I just had a great night in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.  After a long day on my business trip, I changed into my favorite look.  Tonight I wore my tight denim blue riding jeans along with my tall brown high heel boots in my avatar, bright red dress shirt, topped off with my slim fitting black leather jacket.  Since I was away on business, I felt daring since nobody knows me.  I started out my evening with some complimentary alcoholic beverages and appetizers at my hotel which offers an evening refresher or happy hour.  No one paid too much attention to me.

Afterwards I headed on out to a local pub for dinner.  What really made my night was a waitress who was working another table came up to me and asked me where did I get my boots.  I was happy to talk to her since she was sincerely complimenting my look.  I told her that it was an Ebay purchase. She asked if these boots were zipper or pull on style, to which I mentioned that they were pull on style.  Then she asked me what brand of boots they were, then I mentioned that they are Italian boots, no brand name specified.

She thought these boots looked good on me, as she was filled with enthusiasm as she asked me about them. She went so far as to say that my overall look was quite chic and sexy.

Here is a shot of tonight's outfit from my hotel room.

A completely natural look. I am not at all surprised you were not noticed by most, as it is so natural, and noticed only by the waitress who obviously has an eye for nice boots. And she saw them as nice boots worn by a fellow human being, not as part of a costume or freak show. Such easy and open acceptance would have made this a very pleasant and rewarding evening

  3. I see that Dylan can't be bothered going to Stockholm to pick up his Nobel Prize. What an arrogant prat. When one thinks of the deserving writers out there - genuinely deserving talent - who could and should have had such an award, one despairs. Dylan for the Nobel Prize in Literature is like seeing McDonalds awarded a Michelin star.

What next? Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize in Economics?

Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize? Oh, wait they already did that.

I have long maintained that my feminine side was my creative side.  I have noticed the same characteristics you noted when I an dressed in a manner that encourages my feminine side but not so extreme that it overloads it.  Wearing boots seems to accomplish this level of encouragement.

JeffB - Probably for another jaunt to reclaim this thread. :cheeky:

Not to want to continue to distract from JeffB's thread, but that is an interesting point. Perhaps I should start a thread on the nature of creativity, and nurturing it. I can't help but notice that many people on here are of a creative turn of mind.

  5. My 'free styling' extends only to the wearing of flattish otk suede boots, with jeans and jumper, and so very, very tame by the standards here (but that's all I really want anyway) Even so I notice a very upbeat change in myself when I am wearing what I like. I work in a creative field -writing and photography - and I genuinely feel more creative, more open and mentally agile, when I am puttering about my office in my boots.
