  1. Haven't been around much lately, and I just found this thread, but I really like the boots posted by @peterborough.  His style is very similar to my own and I own a lot of very similar looking boots.  I also own some stiletto's that are similar to Mike's, but rarely feel comfortable wearing them out anywhere, they just are not that practical and draw unwanted attention that I am not really looking for.  So I'll stick with my comfortable boots, thank you very much.

I'm a bit surprised by the comments from Mike, heels are heels, there are literally thousands of styles out there and there is a very good reason for that.  Not every style suits every person, but to each their own.  Let's all play nice now, and enjoy what we love.  :)  Take care!

  2. I have quite a bit more shoes than my wife which is sad.  I have somewhere around 80-85 pair, and I only wear about 12 or so on regular basis, usually the more practical and comfortable pairs.  The others sit on the sidelines mocking me each day. Once in a while I do put on a less practical pair around the house for a few hours.  I guess it makes me feel better about the situation LOL, but it is so hard to purge them.  Anyway, I try very hard to stick to the rule of buy one, purge one, and I am usually successful with that.  Ideally, though I should cut my collection by half though.

I've done it.  But if I do it is not stilettos.  It will be a boot of some kind with a thicker heel.  And not too tall.

Same, I have done several concerts in boots with a chunky heel or wedge, and only when I don't have to stand the entire time, just as jkrenzer said.

Heelers :  I thought we covered this subject some time ago. Alas, I no longer have anyone to restrict my interest in wearing high stiletto heels. I put on my standard 5" high heel, boots or pumps in the morning and take them off at bedtime. May change heels when I go to the store-theater-doctor's office etc. but that is it.  Keep your heels and standerds high. Mike

Yeah, this has come up several times over the years in fact, but people come and go, lots of new faces here these days.  :)

For me, pretty much in the same place I was about 15 years ago, I mostly wear 3-4" chunky/wedge boots daily. I stick to shoes that are not flashy, androgynous style, and quiet (eg. rubber sole), basically trying to not draw too much attention to myself.  There are occasions that I wear higher (4.5-5") stiletto type heels, and would love to wear them full time, but I never got to that level of comfort in public.  I guess it amounts to this:  I don't mind the occasional glance from others that I currently get, but I don't want to feel like EVERYONE is looking at me, phones recording me, etc :)

  5. I have those same Steve Madden pumps and speaking of the many shades nude, they appear to be essentially pink rather than nude, but I still really like them.  They are surprisingly very comfortable and easy to walk in, I agree.

  6. So much deep thinking and nerdiness in this thread.  I love it. 😍 Lol

I was initially going to say it's simple for me, its a stiletto if the heel tip is less than 1/2" (13mm) diameter in any direction.  But then started thinking about it and agree with many good points of view here... it should be proportional and mostly straight for at least half of the length, and probably at least 4" (10cm) in height.  Beyond that, its pretty much splitting hairs on each persons own preferences.

  7. Like many others here, I was young, probably 11-12, not only did I have mom's shoes but two older sisters.  I only really played around and wore them for short periods when nobody else was home, but that didn't last that long.  They didn't really fit me by the time I turned 13, and am not sure I was really hooked yet, it was a just fun little novelty at that point.

It wasn't until about 2 years later, 14, maybe 15.  It was my best friends sister, I had a huge crush on her, she was hot and wore fantastic 4 inch heels pretty much all the time.  I had a lot of sleep overs at my friends house and occasionally had opportunities to check out her closet, try things on, etc.  I wear women's size 10, and she had tons of pairs that were 9 and 9.5, many of which fit me just fine.  She had one pair of 4 inch white pumps that I am sure she forgot about, they were buried in the back of her closet, buried under a mountain of other things and were scuffed and not in the best of shape and I thought, "she wouldn't miss these", so I ended up taking them home (not proud of that), but that was really my first pair of heels and I was hooked now.

I still didn't have the courage to buy my own pair until I was probably 17 or so.  I kept a pretty small collection/stash that I wore mostly in private until I met my future wife, about 10 years later, who was very understanding and open to my experimentation.  Well, that opened the flood gates.  I wear heels more often than not, and my collection now is really just excessive and I have a hard time keeping it from just getting completely out of control.  She has occasionally expressed some unhappiness with it over the years, but for the most part she still supports my quirks  :)

  8. wow 14 pairs of the very same shoe style but in different colors... that is quite impressive.  Well, when you find something you like you definitely go all in!  :)   I have a fairly large collection overall, more than I would like to count (guessing near 80 pair), but I think I only have a few pairs that might fall into a category like what you have.

    20) Do you plan on giving up high heels regularly as you get past 60 years old?  - No

  10. I'm fortunate that my spouse is mostly accepting, she is not always happy about what I wear and of course would prefer that I do not wear heels and other feminine clothing at times, but for the most part has accepted me as I am.  However, if I had to make a change like that at this point in my life, it would be very challenging, but I could probably get by without feminine attire for a while, but I would probably not be happy and I would likely slip back into it eventually.  So the answer is no, as many others have said.  So happy that I wouldn't have to make that decision any time soon.

  11. I've really been enjoying longer nails while working from home these days.  While in the office, I did grow my nails a little and even clear polished them, but only to about the tip of my finger, maybe a tiny bit longer on occasion. But since working from home I've tried growing longer nails, and did succeed a couple of times and had them briefly get to the length that mlroseplant's friend has in the first shot, but that is definitely my limit and they start breaking pretty easily at that point.

  13. Shyheels reply was spot on, far too many variables...  I do notice that the reactions I get are more positive when I am wearing heels while out with my wife.  It seems more acceptable for whatever reason when I do it with her there next to me, the most common reaction is a smile, almost never anything less than that.  Almost like I get a free pass.  When I am alone, I occasionally get odd stares, smirks, glances back, and very rarely I might get a giggle or off-putting comment.

  14. Really impressive!  When I had my knee high version of those Domina 6" heel boots, I was never able to take them out in public as they were just too much for me to walk in for really long distances, and I probably didn't look all that graceful in them either... so I only wore those boots around the house while they lasted.

Pretty clear what he got is not what is shown on the picture to the left.

I recently purchased 4 pair from Minaloo, 2 pair were perfectly matched to their photos, 2 not so much. My fault really. I normally read the reviews and especially focus on the customer images. Of the 2 that didn't really match I'm fine with one anyway.

I've had the same issue with a purchase from China that had Minaloo stamped on the shoe.  The heel and steep incline shown in the ad image is what I was seeking only to get something that was at least an inch shorter and not nearly as steep.  It was a little disappointing, but I kept the shoes anyway, the price was good, and they were still very pretty shoes regardless.

Those wouldn't normally be my taste, but after looking at them for a bit, they are actually really cute.  Might have to find something similar for myself  :)  Enjoy!

  16. I had the Domina 2000 version of these boots (which is nearly the exact same boot, but the knee high version instead of thigh high).  They only lasted about a year before the material started to fall apart in several places and the zipper on one of them also started to come apart.  They were very fun to wear and surprisingly comfortable to walk in considering how high the heel is without a platform.  I just wish they were more durable to last longer.

  17. My two teenage kids have both known from a very young age that their dad does things different than most dads. They have seen me at various times over the years wearing short-shorts, leggings / skinny jeans (which were more controversal to wear 5-10 years ago when virtually every guy was wearing rather loose fitting pants and shorts below their knees, etc) ... I wear mid-height heels most days of the week, my toe nails are always painted, shaved legs, and many other things considered feminine.

I have tried to not to take things too far in front of them, and especially if they have friends around, I totally switch back to a more socially acceptable appearance.  I don't want any of their friends to tease them.  I have gotten a few innocent questions over the years asking why I do this or that, but for the most part, they have come to just accept, this their dad I suppose.

Yes,you are probably right. But that the height I really feel at ease. Lower and I feel flat. I can walk hours in the city in these.

I agree with everyone else that commented.  Your outfit is just fine, I see no issues with it.  Those people were very immature and close minded.

I have noticed over the years that the location or setting makes a big difference in how some people behave.  For example, in a larger public setting with lots of others around, you will very rarely get much of a reaction at all, most people are usually doing their own thing, minding their own business, chances are low that you will get much notice.  In smaller public settings, like a small elevator, a small room, public transportation, or any semi-secluded space where you are alone and run into little groups of people (that usually know each other), the chances of you getting that type of reaction increases significantly (in my experience anyway).

It's just something I have observed over the years.  The few times I have gotten any bad reactions from people were in those types of situations.  Otherwise, when I am in an open setting with lots of random people, its very rare that I get any reactions at all.  Does that make sense?

  19. I seem to supinate my feet (foot rolls/leans outward) as I walk.  So I wear out my heels more quickly on the outside on each foot which reduces the life expectancy of my shoes significantly.  If they are more expensive shoes, I usually go through the effort to replace the heel tips if possible.  But generally, I get about 250-500 hours out of a pair, largely depending on the shoe type, the thickness of the heel (chunky/wedge/thin), and if I put the effort/expense into preserving them.

  20. Edit:  I just noticed that this is a very old thread/poll that was just recently resurrected.

The question makes no sense as a yes or no question, since its asking an A 'or' B type question.  So I did not vote.

Anyway, for me, it depends... I've been wearing a lot more skinny jeans recently, which of course means I'm showing the heel.  I still do still like a straight leg (or a narrow boot cut) jean on occasion, which partially hides the heel.  I got rid of most of my early collection of long wide leg boot-cut jeans that would fully hide the heel.

Short answer:  I show the heel, most of the time.
