Damn straight! I am a happy camper after a big win by my Birds!

maninboots: As the others here have already stated, WEAR what you want in the WAY you want and GO where you want. The important thing is to be confident in how you present yourself when out in public, behave like you belong in whatever environment you happen to be in, because you DO belong! Never, and I repeat, NEVER think any other way!

Absolutely agreed with everything you said  Jeff!!!!

I used the line “no they are my shoes” last month. We were come on the beach, I was carrying mule SM mules and she was carrying her running shoes. The woman in the couple in front of use asked my friend about the shoes I was carrying. And I said, "they're my shoes."

I think that is awesome.  I want to use that line at some point!!!

I've been trying to come up with an answer to this question ever since the topic was started.. I haven't had much luck. But here goes anyway

For me my story is kinda like a few of yours. I grew up always sneaking into my mom's and grandmothers closet to wear their heels. But that only lasted so long until I quickly outgrew their size 7 shoes.  And then there was a long gap until I get got my license! Then I could finally get my own pair of heels!

I went to a nine west outlet nearby and bought what I thought might be the right size (turns out i was wrong) I went back and exchanged them the next day. I had myself a pair of little black ankle booties with a 4 inch heel! I would wear them around the house every time I was alone. I couldn't get enough.

Soon I started walking around town at night because the house was getting boring. I did that for a few year and I didn't buy my second pair for probly another 6 or 7 years.  Now I've moved all The way up to 5 pairs of new heels, skinny jeans and a few skirts that I've worn out in public. ( which can be seen in "my first public adventure" thread)

I still don't really know why I like heels so much but I absolutely love the feeling it brings to wear them at home and in public. It's such a satisfying feeling the be walking around in my stilettos. I wish I could do it more! and I hope I can find a way to explain all this to my gf so she can try and accept it and maybe understand it better :)

Totally understand what you are saying.

I was the same,  at home was just not enough.  Wish I was 20 years old again,,,,

Guys, it's easier than you think to wear your heels in public once you realize that most people are totally adsorbed in their own thoughts to notice and most of the rest don't really care.

It was different in the late 60s and early 70s when  fashion still occupied a prominent place in everyone's awareness.  But, with the rise of the war in Vietnam and evolving hippy generation, attitudes began changing to a point where deviant social behavior became not so deviant any longer.  People dressing like bums in grungy, worn out clothing and going to places where, in prior years they wouldn't have dared appeared not fashionably dressed, did a great deal towards relaxing attitudes toward previously unacceptable practices.

Back in the late 60s, when I was still in my 20s, I wore my trousers long enough to cover and hide the fact that I was wearing women's heels and shoes, which worked pretty well.   The only people that were aware of what I was wearing on my feet were people paying unusually close attention.  As attitudes began to relax, my heels became higher and I started to wear them to more places.

These days, when wearing a newly purchased pair of heels, I occasionally feel a  pang of anxiousness which quickly disappears as soon as I get back to thinking about normal business.

Given that it is only natural human behavior to be overly aware and cautious when you first began wearing heels in public, it becomes easier each time you go outside wearing them where  it reaches a point that you never think about what's on your feet.

Perhaps men wearing high heels will never be totally accepted. However, over time and with social attitudes changing more quickly than imagined, the sight of men in heels will no longer be unusual.

So, those of you that really want to wear your heels out in public,  just do it!  By your third time out in them, it will no longer be a big deal.

    Very well said.

    Very true.

Most people could care less I have found there are a lot of girls who compliment and converse with me

Just got my new Luichiny tan suede pumps. I've been wearing them to break in in the mornings for a few days. Today I took them for a spin. Started out for breakfast at my usual place, then off to the home depot for this weekend project materials, finished at Walmart for golf supplies, oil/filters, and a few other items. Great walking heels even at 5". These are a size 10, I bought them as my other Luichiny of the same style but different color and pattern have worn into a too large shoe. They are an 11 and started out nice but have stretched even after moderate use that they slip too much while walking. This so far seems to be the right way to go. I so love the forward tapered heels, so much better balance the straight back heels.

I did wear pants this morning, cut just to the ankle, but it's warm and I wanted to show the shoes better so I donned the shorts.

They are awesome!!!! I have them in every color!!! They are very comfy.  Mine did not strech out as yours did.  Glad you wear them out to run your errands as I do.

Been a bit more adventurous the past few days.  This is an office building near me that I chose to visit a little after most offices had closed.
Can still run into people, but not nearly as likely as elsewhere or other times.
I have a whole slew of pictures from the past few months to post eventually, but I like the way this one looks so I didn't want to put off posting it.
