  1. Hi NZF,

i have my recently acquired piece on the lower inside of my calf - the location I chose was simply because I wanted mine readily visible to me, and I didn't want it in the same stereotypical locations where many guys have them. I didn't consider visibility when heeling, but that's an after-the-fact bonus. Mine is more than just body art, it has deep personal meaning for me. In case you are curious - the "pain" was far less than I expected. Of course, I understand that tops of the feet are a bit more sensitive. Choose carefully - you will be looking at, and hopefully enjoying, your piece for a very long time! Best wishes, please keep us posted...

  2. Like Spikesmike, my leg hair has either simply fallen out or been worn off - not sure which. And similar to Jura, I have a medium size tattoo on the inside lower calf on one leg. I don't particularly worry about mine being visible, in fact, I tend to like that it is showing.

  3. This is, to me, an interesting thread, with similarity to the "what made you want to..." theme in another thread on this board. Feel free to have a laugh at my expense for this next - I even wonder about myself sometimes. I'm still somewhat cautious, even fretful, about showing my painted toes in public, but I have absolutely no problem whatever showing the largeish and colorful tattoo I had done on my lower calf not too long ago.

  4. I can't recommend strongly enough that in this day and age, pedicures for men arei almost always fine with the salon, and whomever wants a pedi, just go for it. Color too, if that's your preference. Same with manis. If you experience one of the few exceptions, take your business elsewhere.

Based on other poster's comments, reactions on the street may be more of a mixed bag. For me, while I have not been out and about a great deal with color on my toes, I've not yet heard a word either way from other citizens. I tend to doubt that a lot even notice.

I mentioned in another thread that I recently had a procedure done for an ingrown toenail. The young middle-aged female doctor suggested wearing sandals or open toe shoes more often, and asked if I got pedicures. When I told her that I did, she surprised me by suggesting that I try getting my toes painted ( of course not knowing that I already do) and said something to the effect that "men are doing that now."

An aside - happened to go in for my monthly nail care earlier today. I'm trying black on my toes, I haven't done that color before. I like it!

  5. Yep, it's a challenge. Payless of course always has a few in 13, but per another topic, that may not be for long, and with theirs, one has to choose very carefully. I've noticed that Nordstrom's carries more than a few 13s, but a lot of those are not to my taste, and the $$ are up there. Nordstrom Rack 13 section comes and goes. I should probably swing by there, it's been a while.

  6. Hey MLR, yours is certainly a legit choice! And I think the main thing is to take care of your feet. We did a Passion Play dramatic musical at our church on Good Friday eve, most all the characters, YT included, were wearing some sort of sandals. As one would expect, several of the male participants were obviously not too concerned about foot care - horrors!

Similarly to my comment in the other recent thread about what made us want to wear heels - I wish I knew why I have the interest in color on my toes. But I do have the interest, and indulge occasionally. I get professional pedis and my favorite tech (salon owner) is happy to oblige whenever I have the notion.

an interesting (to me) development - I recently had a minor foot procedure done, and the young middle-age woman doctor asked if I wore sandals, advocating their use as a good thing. When I replied that I did, she actually suggested that I might want to try painting my toes - I was quite surprised! Her "reinforcing" comment was "Men are doing that now."
