  1. Okay. Truth be told, as of a couple of hours ago, I have been very, VERY tempted on buying three pairs of shoes from eBay, and one "cosplay" item...it's a geek thing, sort of.

The sad thing: I don't readily have the money for them. But every so often, eBay...er, I mean PayPal, sends me an email that reads in its title:

"We have a special credit offer [just for] you!"

The first time I saw this in my Inbox...truth be told, I almost went for it. I didn't go for it until the second or third email, to which I think I was denied? I never received an email saying if I was approved so I figured 'no harm done'. Especially since I had only made the account a week before!...I was oh-so young & immature to even understand the improtance of your "life" aka your Social Security. I digress.

On to the topic, and it's an odd one for some & a simple answer for others, but the question is simple:

For a pair or two pair of shoes of ever-high prices, not takling thousands...Would you take up the 'deal' of being given six months to pay off your shoes before you were credited? I mean, it seems easy enough to do, especially with the steady stream of nice-looking paychecks I've been getting from the job, and it would have easily been paid off, but for a couple of pairs of shoes totally over $100+? Is it even worth the time and money-management?

And if you've been to Solestruck.com , you probably can see what I mean price-wise, although their styles get to teetering heights...but what am I saying? I dare the heights! ;)

  2. Thanks for this, kev, and thanks for doing a bit - in this case, a month - of good for a pretty good cause. It's given me the inspiration to try & start something for myself in that month as well. October is also known as Breast Cancer Awareness month, and since last year, I've always wanted to challenge myself to wear nothing but pink heels for the entire month. It wouldn't be limited to one pair like you're going for, but it would be a feat nonetheless. Now that you've presented something that is 1) do-able and 2) somewhat easy to come together with...I might need to send a few emails & see what I can do to get something initiated on my end! :)

Good luck to you, good sir~

  3. Pretty sure he knows the dangers ;) As do I. I knew what I was getting into with my first pair of 8-inchers. What I didn't know is what kind of kitchen floor I was standing on! Haha. I definitely want to merely try on a pair of 9- or 10-inchers. Walk, eh, I'll go a couple of steps for show. Purchase...I'll think about it.

  4. I voted #1 and #2 but I'm settling with #2 now. I despise the town I live in. Too many relatives and chances of me running into them. I'm sure if I told them and I knew that they would be fine with my heeling, then as someone said, I'd feel much better and might be a #3 or a #4, even. For now, it's closet heeling for me. Though I have my days of saying 'eff it', gathering my self, and taking the plunge knowing I shouldn't run into anyone.

  5. Maybe I'm lucky to work at a job like Target then, haha!

I'm stocking shelving into opening hours, usually no more than two hours past opening. Even then, I've had female guests come in wearing the nicest heels ever, although few and far in between. Sunday, I've noticed, seem to be the day ladies go all-out (for the man in the sky & his day of service).

I say I'm "lucky" because I could probably let a compliment such as "You look very nice today, miss" & I imagine she'd accept it, no questions asked. I might be able to let a "Your heels look very nice today, miss" fly by & no double take, though a bit more risky.

Actually, a curious question: If I were to say that & you were a woman, would you take it as a part of protocol (being nice to the guest, etc.) or would you see it as a creep using his job to his advantage?

  6. My two cents:

I don't recall what side of the sea you're from, but I know that Bare Feet Shoes are getting in some eye-catching knee-high boots in stock. i tried them on at the store today & found them to be mighty nice, probably better in a skirt than my work pants, haha. I don't know how high you're looking, especially with a platform, but I'd suggest checking the site for an idea on what you might be going for. They pretty much have the stiletto boots & the thicker heeled boots so choose your fancy & let things fall in place~

  7. I'm going to get straight to the point of this topic:

Have you ever second-guessed a pair of heels that you thought you were for certain you wanted, but backed out on getting for the time being?

I Just did that a few hours ago at Payless. I'm looking hard at some clogs for work, and am pretty set on some heels to attend a H.S. play this week, opening night. They're doing their BOGO sale again & I was hoping to go in, get both pairs of shoes, and walk out. Alas....*Sigh* I'm mainly worried about the acceptance I'd receive for them at work. A reviewer on the Payless site stated he had gotten them for his job, but his job & mine - stocker at a big-name company - are two totally different jobs, & people might not always see eye-to-eye with you. Or, if you're lucky, they won't even bat an eye. Safe to say I'm hoping for the latter.

I also have not bought a pair of heels in quite some time, which is weird because, especially when I have money, I usually don't hesitate so much that I have to wonder if the pair is worth the price tag (which is 35$). It could be a combination of the price &, again, the fear of acceptance if I should wear them to work. I went to the store after work & turns out my work pants don't even come close to covering them as I had anticipated.

I included the pair in question in the attachment.

  8. Any pics of them on? I'm growing quite curious of how they look, with prior knowledge and view of when I owned a pair (size 12s; they fit, but were rather tight, small fit as people stated but still wearable).

I'm especially curious now because I feel as though I've seen a lady wearing them at, of all places (but on a Sunday), a Chuck E. Cheese today. Safe to say: curiosity spiked up!

  9. http://www.aliexpres..._211651845.html I have bought them a while ago (from ebay in Germany, about half the price listed here) and I am very disappointed. The make quality is very low. The eyelets are pulled out of the cheap plastics very quickly, they can't stand the forces of the shoe strings pulling.

Just making sure I'm getting this right.

The seller on eBay is the same seller on aliexpress, correct?

  10. Loving this story on all fronts. First off, kudos to Steve and Happy for a great time had. And it was a great read for me. I couldn't help but be jealous for you two's day or two of festivities, including the pedi/mani. I've yet to enjoy a pedi/mani for myself, although a friend of mine informed me of a place not too far from the job, actually. Course, with me on G+ and her on Facebook (ugh), there's no real way for us to contact each other to plan a visit to said place. But I still have high hopes of visiting one of these days. Hopefully we can all take a note from this and plan visits with heelers close by to us as well. Might be the best thing you ever do~

  11. There is Punitive Shoes I was just about to post but saw the above posts.

Then, as with all things in society, and as many places are claiming...pony boots seemed to have "advanced" into this:

    http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Fetish-Ponyplay-boots/804726_211651845.html

It's definitely NO pony boot, though the appearance could convince some otherwise. But it's just a platform boot with the heel cut off. I like 'em, but I'm pretty sure the majority here are against this "fiend" per se. (And by the way, Not made in the USA, far as I know).

  12. Quite the story, AZ. As I'm away from college due to financial means, I might consider those said classes you took when I'm back to attending. It might help me break the shell a bit more with my mom. She's totally against me in heels, though sometimes insist on bringing it up at awkward & random times. I know that I should just stand my ground & defend what I like the most, but it's pretty hard when you're against the one that brought you into the world.

  13. It's been a number of pairs as of late...rather, earlier.

BOGO has begun again with Payless, where it's Buy 1 Get 1 half-off. I've my eye on a large number of shoes on display. The main ones were these sneaker wedges.

    http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?catId=cat10088&subCatId=cat10288&skuId=133236055&productId=73448&lotId=133236&category=&catdisplayName=Womens

No 12s in stock online, but available at a far-off store (far off at the moment). The 11s I tried on in a store nearby fit, to say the least. I trimmed my big toes' nails down to a much shorter length so I think it warrants another visit to see how they fit now. Reeeeally wanted in on the trend before it disappeared for good. Curse my last-minuteness! >.<

Other contenders were Airwalk boots & Airwalk "Converse" hidden wedges, and some moccasin flats that combined two of my all-time favorite colors together perfectly: orange & blue <3

Elsewhere, Shoe Carnival is also having a sort of BOGO sale, but for the recent Labors' Day festivities. The only pair I wanted, so far, was some wedge booties that are strikingly familiar to the pair a worker at Bakers had on loooooong ago. Of course, I yearned for a pair since then but not much came up, until now.

These aren't exactly like the saleslady had on, but I'll take them as a close second-up. As stated, I can't really find anything else to buy with them to use the promotion properly (because I'm a total sucker for promotions like this), so I'm quite hesitant to squeeze them too tightly & not let go. I'm actually not gonna put too much hope in them, either, seeing that 11 is the highest they have.

I guess only time will tell if the shoes should be with me or not. i always leave it up to fate ;)

  14. One thing I just noticed (and I haven't seen the video or this thread since posting) is while she wants to teeter-totter like she's really about to twist an ankle...

Why in the Hel[en] is she attempting the shoes (Jeffrey Campbells) on red carpet???

For a doctor (and as stated, a frequent 'heel-er' on the show), she sure is an amateur when it comes to proper surfaces to walk upon with them on. By the way, I did get my heel-less shoes in a couple of weeks back, and I can honestly say that without a doubt...I could walk in them MUCH better than she displayed, even on uneven/carpeted surfaces. Granted mine are probably the "easier" of the two of our shoes. No less, still very easy to walk in. If anyone requires a video for further proof, I can record a little something when I have time. For now, let the photos I post here & in the gallery suffice!~

For a second, I thought the title stated that "men disliked wedge shoes the most", to which I would have wholeheartedly DEBUNKED! <3 wedges with a passion!

Instead, apparently we hate the wedge heels on the ladies' feet. Accordingly to the site, right next to the disliking of Uggs and Crocs, 'which is understandable'. But why wedges?

Doesn't matter the heel to me. A shoe is a shoe, and it looks damn lovely on the other foot as it may on ours. Still, why wedges, particularly? Can anyone shed light on this?

  16. HHdude- If you get a wedding invitation and it's outside then you should consider wearing wedge sandals. They go great with about any outfit and there is no better style shoe that offers you the chance to show your toes, give you height, and are stable when walking on surfaces like grass or gravel.Weddings can indeed be great places to wear heels as it seems everyone is showing off their pedicures. HappyinHeels

If anything, I very much fancy the ones in your avatar as my wedge of choice :P
  17. I have a couple of cravings actually, one that I might partake into very soon, and another I'm hoping pops up in the eBay universe.

One is a pair of Ego and Greed "She Cray" flatforms, to replace the ones I currently own. I, for some reason, think that 'higher is better' and am determined to stand by the word. I blame the studs, personally.

    http://www.egoandgreedshoes.com/She-Cray-by-Ego-And-Greed-Shoes-p/she-cray.htm

Another is a pair of Jeffrey Campbell "Stinger Spike Clear", another flatform. It's a lovely pair of see-through shoes with spikes up-front and the rear/heel, and the platform is silver. I've been eyeing them since last year but of course didn't have the money for them at the time. Now the "trend" that the shoes were with has come and gone and am just awaiting the day I find a pair on eBay for cheap, yet worn probably greatly.

It's either the Stinger Spikes or the Pleaser clear boots that were discontinued years ago. I had a pair but at the time, I needed the money and had to sell them ;( Really loved the one time I wore those boots out in public ;D

  18. Welp...I thought I had seen it all. But apparently not. Once again, I was doing my annual search on Youtube for all things platform & ballet heels (because it's a kink as well as being a thing I love wearing). Low & behold, I came across this:

A record set in stone, a record I never even knew existed in the first place. But if she's doing anything right, it's her (And I assume friends as well) making the heels her/themselves instead of summoning someone to fix it up for them. But since the latter is what's best for me, I wouldn't hesitate to break the record WHILE simultaneously setting another couple of records: most steps taken in the highest shoes in the world AND height of the shoes which the steps were taken. But I'm looking to win the lottery before that ever happens, lol.
  19. But at the same time, maybe this mom is suppressing this on her daughter on a massive scale because maybe she wasn't treated well as a child. I've noticed it a lot in people before, but I'm not a psychologist so I'm just coming up with the thought. Still awful though...

Not just a thought; usually the utter reality of things that people discover, as I had this same exact thought after watching. But depending on the child, usually, outside inspiration usually is the answer. Sure, she might seem like a snob, but kids oftentimes look down on that, especially if they have nothing like she has.

Long story short, my mom is like that to an extent. Had an okay childhood, but nothing like she gave me. Still applies to me today, but the only difference is that I feel that I have to be responsible for many of the things I do...scratch that. I Need to be responsible, period. Otherwise, I won't make it very far on my own.

  20. Was doing another one of my weekly "women in high heels" Youtube search (because it's not just a thing to wear with my looks), and came across The Doctors' take on heel-less shoes. 'The Doctors' is a show on a lesser-known channel, so take their advice lightly :P Just jossin ya!

Now this is interesting because the only female on the show, out of four, wears high heels almost Every episode that I've seen. Yet, "psychologically" she couldn't hold her own in the shoes, which are mighty nice to the eye, by the way...well, maybe just to mine ;)

    http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpo4VWuQ1-w

Course as with regular heels, they don't recommend constant wearing of them. "Wear them through the special event or party, take them off immediately after" said one doctor. But soon, their advice won't matter to me because I'm gaining two pair of heel-less shoes for myself, so TAKE THAT, DOCTORS! Pictures will come as soon as I get a pair (keep an eye on the gallery!)~

  21. ...I read pretty much the whole thread. I darenot even participate in what just transpired before my eyes. As the sign says on some people's houses, "Beware of Dog". In this case, I wouldn't want to be barked at for my comments. Maybe as a blog post on here, but I digress ;) I just unblocked this site, though I use two different Chrome extensions (to which I only thought it was the one). Started using two because, well, Adblock wasn't doing it All. By the way, I prefer Adblock the ORIGINAL over Adblock Plus or any other comers after it. It allows for me to unblock domains and sites with just a couple of clicks and an auto-reload of the page to show and give support to the people and sites I want to. I'm here occasionally to reply to my topics and others' topics because, well...it's either help others get out there and heel alongside us, or just...live your life, haha. I feel better with the former, of course. Course I'm getting back in to the swing of heeling, so I'll be more of a contributor when I'm REALLY out and about! ;)
