  1. As for maybe I will build confidence to do that in heels. That does depend on the place. here in Orange county I can go out in just about any sort of boots that I can find. It is a little different at the shop where I hang out. The owner is concerned about the image that I present to the customers. So at the shop most days it is side zip square toe two inch heel boots that just happen to have rubber sole and heel. Another factor is haw the footwear matches the rest of the ensemble. After working hours I dump the pants and go for my kilt and the same boots go well but I mostly reserve the four inch stilettos for the leather mini skirt and heavy duty pantyhose. Another detail is all my shoes come from the women's department.

  2. Belly button, industrial both ears and half inch lobes, Both nipples and three in the tongue. My first tattoo a maranatha dove on my right lower leg and for years I was filled with regret. Regret not getting it twenty years sooner. Now have St Andrew cross inner right lower leg and Ikthus outer left. Basket weave left ankle and planning more.

  3. The first one looks good to me but it says skort which as I understand is a skirt looking shorts. Anyway I got some good stuff from denimskirts.com and as for the three others from Kohls they are too girly for me.

  4. Right back a few years I always brought a dressmakers tape with me to check the skirt size. But for me it was a way to not make it so obvious who I was buying for and I did not wear a skirt into the store. So now I do wear a skirt into the store and now I take the skirt and stretch from my navel to the spine to check for fit.

  5. Now this is something that may not be exactly what the subject started to be about but this is about the closest that I can find. Got a pair of Croft and Barrow three inch heel zip boots of a near white color and the toe is about an inch longer than need be. the size is rated as 11n but they are longer than that. What I have been planning is to cut off the tips and turn them into something like the 1966 or so Coureges open toe style. Plan is to chop a bit ahead of where my toes end then remove an extra .15 or so or the upper inside and turn the outer skin into the opening and glue it for as nice a lower hem as I can get. While I hate to cut into something as nice as these they are actually all man made material and not really expensive. But if it works they will be more valuable as a fashion not so common.

  6. On that flip flop business that sort of depends. With respect to the total on way people I will say that certain body types and certain foot types are much less suited to the style. Only back in the late seventies I made a pair with real leather insole and straps and totally ran them into the ground. They were both comfortable and a good fit. Now the rubber cheepies I will not use as they do not fit and they tend to get my heel to go off the inner edge. However as there was a good supply of the rubber flip flops at a certain dumpster I did find a use for them that being I removed the straps and stuffed a pair into some men's work boots and then the boots fit me and were comfortable.

  7. To explore wearing heels as a fashion statement is really not such a difficult thing to do because one can start with the most mild like I started with waitress shoes and my cover story was because those shoes were made for a lot of comfortable walking carrying and all day use and in addition to that all the men's shoes were too wide for me. The model that I chose had a heel of inch and a quarter. So if four inch heels is too big of a step try two inch. Now my biggest step was openly and deliberately selecting my footwear from the women's department. For me that was an obstical to overcome.
  8. Informed decisions are good. Anyway I really did like the story about the boy that liked to try on his mothers heels so when he turned sixteen the mother got him his own set of heels and they went out shopping. As for health reasons I would not forbid heel wearing but explain about bone and joint growth and strongly suggest not pushing the limit for too many hours at a time. Now if anyone knows me I would prohibit those cursed pointy toe.

  9. Got some good news. Been wearing my six inch heels during a great deal of the spare time and that leaning forward is getting less and less and now after a tenth of an hour or so they do not make me lean over at all. However when I take them off I go into withdrawal. Probably that could be another subject. Heel withdrawal from minor weird feeling to muscle pain.

  10. Now that does make sense. Still the part about wearing them around the house is a bit creepy to me because like I have stated wearing ones high heels inside only impresses me as a pervert kind of thing but I am wearing my five inch heels mostly only inside not that I feel they are not proper to go out but I still need practice and they do get easier every day. Also that thing about how to keep from tipping over that gets better too with less of a tendency to tip over on my face. Still with me I like that platform. Not really for any extra height but when a thin sole flat like Keds or the like the whole thing is soft and good for intended purpose. But when we get the heel in the equation then we need stiffness and when the stiffness ends and the toe pat is soft that to me feels cheep. Got two pairs of similar pumps on pair no platform and the other with a platform of nearly half an inch but that extra thickness makes the whole thing stiff and that is what I like.

  11. Really missing something here. It says Not with a 4 1/2 to 5 inch actual rise so does that mean want less of a rise. This does not appear too difficult to me to find so I must be missing something.

  12. This is easy. Some few years back I got ten inch boots turned into eighteen inch boots and that was a good trick. Now for the tall to short boots the thought that just occured to me was to take the old tops and copy what they did. Another way is to bevel the new top edge so it will fold over and sew or glue it. And if to glue be totally sure to avoid green weldwood. Then one could take a thin strip of leather and stitch it to the upper edge then fold it over and glue it to the inside. Probably just find a boot top that looks good and copy.

  13. Once again there is not enough information here to supply a complete answer. So what sort of rubber and what sort of heel and what sort of wear and how to repair or restore. So assuming a few details here one can take some road kill tire tread and cot it any way one can to achieve the desired shape and apply some calender rubber in the proper thickness which would be thin and warm the whole mess and the new rubber will fuse to the original and the patch piece. It will not be necessary to destroy what is left of your shoes with the same tempreture that is used to retread a used tire but by doing this at a lower tempreture it will just take longer. The durigen rubber can be found on the side of the road and cut with a band saw or thin blade hand saw then the good old bench grinder is a good way to shape the replacement part. As for the original one may guess that it is not desired to grind away too much material so then to avoid that one must match the patch to the shape of what is left. Anyway it can be done and I have done it.

  14. Once again this question is not really specific and may be totally obvious to the one who posted it but a second possible answer just occurred to me. First as it just happens to be I am wearing my six inch heels for practice and every time I put them on I find my self leaning over and ready to fall on my face. So how do I stop that is I still have a few degrees of ankle extension and I can lean over backwards if I try. While I know that I have stated that I feel that wearing the heels in the house only feels to me like a pervert thing this pair is so tall that I am not ready to go out with them very much but I have worn them once in the mall and in the parking lot here at the shop. To keep from leaning over will take practice and will power. The second thought that occurred to me is leaning over to the side like in that old twisted ankle sort of thing. some how I can remember when I was little that on rare occasions I would step wrong and the inner side would go up and the weight would go to the outside edge of my foot and that would hurt but as I matured I got more flexible that way and that is no longer a problem. Anyway when I am sporting the highest heels I do not come down with all my weight like a male clod hopper in work boots what I do is to sort of tiptoe and get that wider front part of the shoe to take the load and with some willpower and muscle control make sure that it goes straight. Now that I think of it much of the time when I can track a heel user from the back I see a slow ring to the ankle as the foot comes down that ankle is angled to the side and on contact it straightens up but passes center then back the other way passing center but less this time about four or five cycles and when it is straight it comes up for another step. This ringing is more noticeable with persons without an excess of avios du pois. well getting close to ten o'clock here got to go just now.

  15. It was never my intention to produce a shank that is flat but flat is how the material comes from the industrial hardware or tooling supply. Before hardening the piece can be bent or even dished with a ballpien hammer and a scrap piece of wood. Heating can be done with a blow torch and a few bricks. My first aluminum castings were melted that way. Over here in Irvine there is a restaront with a blacksmith so if there is one in your area one can see how it works or maybe get it done as part of the entertainment.

  16. While I may be repeating some information here that is easier than to look to see where I posted before but here it goes. In 1964 a friend from school had around the house a below the knee compression open toe from when his mother recovered from an injury. We being kids tried it on but somehow I was the one that got a real charge from the feel of it. Then about 1973 working at a guest home in Costa Mesa there were antiembelisium stockings appearing in the dumpster. And again they were a real thrill. Some times in the 90s I found my ankles swelling so now I have a reason to wear compression hose and because of my magic feeling that they gave me I went for the highest compression that I could get 40-50 starts to require a prescription but some places do not bother with that. Just a little extra here do not worry about dificulty getting 40-50 or more just put on two pair of 30-40 and that was more than I could bear. Daytime not so bad but at night my heels started to complain of no circulation. The 40-50 I can wear all day and most nights. Now the hair loss maybe started about 1985 now that I think about it. Anyway by1990 the hair around the ankles had been rubbed off by the ski socks. When I went to get a five color basket weave on my left ankle the ink slinger got out her razor and then she said oh you already shaved. Back in the 90s the swelling problem only came around occasionally with two or three years between. When the swelling would start I would go for the compression hose and some time later when I would be too lazy to put them back on the swelling was gone. But now it is being more persistent. Now just in case it makes any difference this is the Ultimate Sheer compression 30-40 from DSS which I do see their link here at HHP. So they must be safe to recommend. So anyway to get a bit more to the question just this year the swelling has persisted and been wearing the compression hose round the clock. Here it is I need the compression during the day but in the morning I an too lazy to put them on and I totally love the feeling going to sleep and during the night to change sides I reach over and feel that sexy support. Then I get my shower before bed time. To get a shower in the morning is no use because I do not notice needing to clean up for the day but really need to be clean for bed time so that all fits together to sport the compression round the clock. Another thing is I really do not know why or how the hair got rubbed off but that side effect came with long term continuous use. Just last week I was taking them off and noticed really diminished leg hair. So lets see if any other experiences.

  17. This really should be too simple to fuss over. The shank that I have found in factory shoes is a piece of junk but quite reproduceable. Figure the size and shape get some air hardening tool steel presumably in strip form and do all the cutting, drilling and bending. Bring up to 2000 degrees of what ever it takes and cool slowly. If oil hardening steel is used then it gets heated and plunged into oil and at just the right angle as warpage can occur at the quenching. Better yet make a mold from clay covered with suranrap and lay down your sole pattern in fiberglass then grind and apply more fiberglass and more grinding until it is right. This method can go from the inside or from the outside. Start with a mold of the foot or a mold of the outside of the shoe.

  18. Good to know about all that stuff. As for wearing support hose in the cooler months that we can figure but those Ultamte Sheer Compression form DSS like I said those pantyhose always make my legs feel cooler. That is cooler in regular weather and cooler in warm weather but downright chilling in the cool weather. No problem just put some leggings over when cold. About those South African compression hose that looks like a real bargain price better than $28 from DSS. Now there is a new thing to report and I will back up to 1975. The local sports equipment store had ski socks on sale as it was not ski season at the time so I got a few pair for regular use and was advised they make great hiking socks. When pulled all the way up they bothered my leg just under the knee so much of the time I wore them pushed down with the elastic part about my ankles. Now after a short time I found that nearly all the hair was gone from my ankles. This was never really a problem as I never did have the ape leg condition so with the certain kind of socks and loss of leg hair I figured there had to be a connection. Now lately I get that swelling in my feet and lower legs and just now I find that the swelling is turned on by the tattoo on my ankle where the lines cross. If they cross at 90 degrees that is normal if the lines cross at 30 degrees there is swelling. Now not to pity me as I can go without compression hose for a day or two and when fully swollen and I put the compression hose on the swelling is gone the next day. Now back to that new thing to report. After wearing compression pantyhose much of the time and continually for some of the time just about all the leg hair is gone. Now this is also not a problem. So any comments will be interesting.

  19. That would be nice to get together and compare. Am planning a trip to San Fran to see the new tram lines. Back when I was little I saw the Gerey tracks being ripped out and the scar remained at Powel until 1985. Now the wised up and understand the value of the classic PCC. Now when I take in all the sights I plan to have at least a four inch heel and I have worn such all day many days. There is a sticky wicket that being that the rug got pulled out from under me and just at the moment I do not have my own base of operations here in Orange county. That could be remedied in time to make the trip in October.
