  1. They look nice - but I do not really "understand" the purpose of "hidden platform" - it makes a delicate shoe look somewhat like a brick. But that is just the way I see that feature on a high heeled shoe. Keep us informed as do they feel as comfortable as the Kosmic - I really like the fit of them.

I like the ones with small hidden platforms--huge hidden platforms do look rather like a brick! Totally my bias.

  2. If it's only bothering one foot, hh4ever is probably right, just break them in. They appear to be leather and fabric at the strap so you might be able to stretch them out with one of those shoe stretchers, just be gentle because of the fabric. I've also stretched out heels (cheap synthetic ones) with a a ziploc bag of water in the freezer. (I stuffed the whole lot in another plastic bag so my family wouldn't flip out, lol.) You might also try wearing them just for short periods of time so you both smooth out the strap and build up your skin a little where it rubs. They are such a lovely purple, it would be a shame to give up on them :D:rose: xo Sangue

  3. I have never been into dance, gymnastics, or even sports for that matter. Some of you know I have recently gotten into pole dance for fitness so I've been doing a lot of stretching for splits. A big part of form for stretching is to point your toes--I just can't seem to do it well. Since I've only tried this after a few years of heel wearing, I have no idea if this is just the way my feet are or a result of heeling.

I am guessing it could be heel use since a lot of heels tend to force the front of the foot into sort of a tilted L-shape? Even after running barefoot on the treadmill my feet cramp when I point them, ugh. Is anyone else here into some form of dance or sports that requires toe pointing? What do you think/recommend?

  4. I have never owned a pair and I go back and forth on ballet heels. The majority are too fetishy for my personal taste but I like to see others rock them--it just seems like quite the feat! At the moment there are a lot of other types of heels I would want to spend my money on (sadly money I don't have, lol) before venturing into ballet heels. Maybe one day!

  5. Oh my, I see I've been missing some good shoe loving since I've been sick and away! I just found a short clip of guys dancing in some flashy stillettos--I was watching to see one of my favorite pole athletes. They do some sort of a hip hop dance (I don't know much about hip hop so I am probably wrong. The clip starts here:

Anyone interested in seeing some pole athletics there is a clip of that at 1:09. xo Sangue
  6. Thank you for all the great feedback! Most people assume pole dancing is easy and I was not wrong to think my hhplacers are more thoughtful! Amanda I could see you doing my sort of pole, with a very elegant ballerina-eque costume or something a figure skater would perform in. I don't pole in heels which is funny because I even check the mail and clean up the yard in heels LOL. ilikekicks, I will go with treating shoes as just a clothing statement as you described. Simple and elegant! :rose: xo Sangue

  7. Hi everyone, as some of you know I have a blog on flexibility and pole fitness.

One of the growing trends is men trying out pole fitness--one of my pole friends has a blog called A Man Who Pole Dances even. He has even tried out the "pole heels" (referred to a lot on this site as "stripper heels") of the tall-platform-and-heel variety. Of course, I immediately thought of all the neat guys who rock heels too. I want to make a post about men who wear heels from the point of view of a woman who wears heels and thinks men in heels rock. :rocker:

So I was thinking there might be some preconceived notions other than the obvious (supposedly almost no men wear heels, men who wear heels are "deviant," only gay men wear heels :penitent: ) I should avoid. Or maybe some of you might have items you would like to see included?

So far I don't have a set topic except to address that men are changing clothing stereotypes in pole fitness and in heels and I am definitely open to all suggestions :)

  8. Too funny, I enjoyed every bit of this thread! Yes, living in Minnesota jumper cables are a necessity and everyone knows how to use them. Being artificially "Minnesota nice" you would have had quite the line up of people proving how nice they think they are with offerings of a jump. Glad you got your car going, Amanda!

  9. Today's mini expedition to bring in our post quickly dissuaded me ;) I did not imagine the snow was over a foot thick when I stepped out so I was wearing low cut flats. It is a cold day today, the kind that gives the snow a grainy or even dusty feeling like a powder. The first few steps took me over solid snow and the rest... plunged me through those six inches of powdered ice. By the time I was running back the nerves in my feet almost burned as the snow started melting and absorbing energy. It was an uncomfortable reminder of the endothermic conversion of ice into liquid water! I have finally written the post I mentioned yesterday: http://flexines.blogspot.com/2013/02/what-is-pole-fitnesspole-dance.html xo Sangue

  10. In hopes of luring Sharon out, an maybe even some new heel lovers with a taste for water, I will share a rather slushy experience. This happened, of course, at school on a day when all the accumulated snow suffered from a small rise in temperature. The bridge from one campus to another gets downright treacherous with ice in the winter, yet I insist on my heels as usual :) On this particular day I found myself forced to walk the slushy side of the walk to avoid the ice slicks--normally I skid with confidence but on this day it was particularly slippery. At first, with the whole walk ahead of me, I clicked my way through the thinnest slush taking care to step high and descend softly. At the first turn there was nowhere to step but a mirror-like ice patch or a deep puddle of slush. I instantly thought of the ladies here daring to step in puddles and dip their feet in fountains and plodded right in. My only disappointment was that the slush completely muffled my heels; I so love to click. Of all my new online friends, I am the only one that adores heels in every waking moment except in my type of dance (I will share what that is when I can do it justice). I missed Sharon and imagined she might be at that moment pouring a sneaky bit of water into her great boots. Megan, I thought I could hear you egging me on and I walked faster and more proudly. I even let my jacket hang open, a long, black wool coat. Underneath I wore a black and white printed dress, black sheer stockings, and white, long dancer's legwarmers. To my standards, it was a very whimsically thrown together outfit, chosen because I wanted to wear each of the individual items rather than taking care to build a look. I thought what a great group we would make, putting the world to shame for being to careful to glory in all the splashing. xo Sangue
