Here's a question for more knowledgeable bitcoin enthusiasts:
Is there factoring in the increasing cost of maintaining bitcoin by mining?
Bitcoin's ledger is only updated because of ongoing mining, i.e. solving increasingly complex mathematical puzzles to earn bitcoin, and get awarded the right to update the blockchain ledger.
Given that energy is increasingly expensive, especially fossil-fuel based energy, is there a point where the cost of maintaining the ledger through mining outweighs the value of the utility of the currency, or even the value of the currency itself?
Professional bitcoin miners have to purchase computer server hardware, buy or rent facilities to house the servers, pay for the energy that they consume, personnel to operate and maintain the servers and facilities, etc.
I have heard that the bitcoin mining community is set on staying with "proof of work" i.e. the current mining model for maintaining the ledger.
This is as opposed to "proof of stake" which is where currency holders commit their holdings for the right to update the ledger, for which they are rewarded with additional currency. This is a much less energy intensive process. To be fair, I really don't know how this works.
The best known example a cryptocurrency using of "proof of stake" is Ethereum 2.0

No new boots for me
-
I think a pair of platform boots looks like those on Bratz dolls, which many of today's women grew up with as girls, and I've seen social media comments from women wearing them saying as much.
They're a retro thing that take more after the 90s than the 70s style platforms.
-
And in sizes up to US 14! The reviews say they run small though, so get 1 size up

Such a shame. It's those darned synthetic leathers again, ruining an otherwise nice pair of shoes.
I wonder if you could prep, then paint the interior with something tough, yet flexible, like silicone caulking, Lexel, or even silicone roof coating, to hold the interior surface together.

In addition to what Cali has said, if your calves are particularly large, that also limits your choices.
For knee high and over-the-knee boots, you should look for the calf measurement on the product's web page.
Some manufacturers make limited models of wide calf boots, but not many.
I don't have that problem personally, but my wife does.
If the wide calf offerings don't suit you and you're willing to spend a little more, there are places you can get a pair of boots custom made.

@Isolathor "chinesium" hahaha!
I've had way too many shoes and boots made of that stuff.
It's an unstable isotope that decays when it goes in my closet!

@temp After my own narrow escape, I wouldn't recommend risking your money.
But if you insist, don't be afraid follow up with them regularly, and dispute the charge immediately if things look fishy.

I don't see 70s platforms, but I do see 90s Spice Girls era platforms with chunky heels and square toes that are making a comeback this season.
I love those, and bought a pair of Jeffrey Campbells myself a week ago.
-
@ShyheelsLouboutins are not known for their comfort and ease of walking in.
I'd still love to try out a pair though they run one size too small for me, from what Nordstroms advises.
-
@IsolathorDoes your wife find the ankle strap useful for keeping the shoes in position on her feet?
-
So I was checking Jeffrey Campbell's website.
What I really wanted his The Band model, but that only goes up to 11, but I noticed the Dauphin model in black was back in stock today, and in my size 12!

So trigger pulled. I hope this quells my lust for chunky boots this season.
In this season’s quest for a new pair of chunky boots, I noticed that Steve Madden has a high heeled model of ankle boot for men
https://www.stevemadden.com/collections/mens-boots/products/viper-black-leather
That, and the glamor shot for Jeffrey Campbell’s Dauphin boot is a Freddy Mercury lookalike.
Are designers finally recognizing that cismales buy high heels too?

Well, at least I got my money back. Most of it anyway. Thanks to fluctuations in the exchange rate, I lost about USD$30
During the PayPal mandated communication period for the dispute, Elite Heels said they were in the hospital and couldn't ship the order until they got out, which was conveniently after PayPal's deadline to resolve the issue.

Is that the Sizzle?
Yes, that was it.
I find myself liking Jeffrey Campbell's designs the more I look at them.
Great selection in my size 12, and a few up to size 15 too.
I think that I may have missed their Fall boot drop though, so many of the best color and design combos are sold out in my size.
Definitely worth keeping an eye out on their email flyers though.
edit:
These KISS themed boots are amazing

@Cali I like half zippered thigh boots because my thighs rub against each other. TMI?
To a lesser extent, my knees too.
p.s. I pulled the trigger on the Nine West cherry patent OTKs. *buries my head in shame* I have no self control.

Steve Madden has an interesting thigh boot in a good range of sizes and colors.

Also, for some reason, I find myself lusting after a 90s style chunky platform boot like this, except it doesn't come in my size 12.

Nope, don't have the boots, and Elite Heels doesn't respond to my emails.
I'm afraid it's a scam folks.
I'm working with PayPal to recover my money.

Fall season preorders have started, and Nine West have their lineup of boots on their website!
Lug soled ankle boots seem to be the rage this season, but this pair of patent cherry OTKs has caught my eye
I’ll have to check what Louboutin’s offerings this year look like later.
Does anyone want to share what they’re looking forward to?

Because of the angle her foot approaches the bottle, I can’t tell if the heel tip was already sideways before it hit the bottlecap.
A trick like this probably took many takes to produce a perfect result, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s how she wore out the heel tip.

Fabulously Fetish has changed their name to “Custom Boot And Shoe” but when you look at their website, it’s still our old “buddy” Cos K

Forum search returns far fewer results than a google search on this site for the same keywords.
Compare the results for searching for “Fabulously” for example:

Heels in future in

It's another prescient vision of the future by Musk, because Twitter might very well indeed be everyone's (e)x-platform in the future...
Heel heights are definitely cyclical.
What do they say? Stocks, hemlines and heels go up together?
In the 70s the pundits thought all women would be wearing baggy t-shirts and Birkenstocks from then on but that didn't happen.
