I'm not sure if this may post twice as it didn't appear to upload. Anyway, I'm curious if any of you have read the book "The Sex Life of the Foot and Shoe", which was written back in the 1970's by a podiatrist. It's a very interesting and informative book that will no doubt answer or confirm many of the questions or theories that you've had about shoes including history of styles, what drives shoe design, the type of personality that leans toward certain styles, etc. It's particularly interesting coming from a "foot doctor" as they are notorious for wanting us to all wear the ugliest shoes known to mankind, with only foot and ankle surgeons being even worse.
Totally agree with you, If podiatrists and foot surgeons had their way, we all would be wearing Birkenstocks during the summer, and Uggs during the winter.

In Germany they are known to drink beer from a boot shaped beer stein. So why not drink wine from a wine glass with a high heel on it.

Just so long as the bracelet is not one of those GPS ankle monitor bracelets. I despise seeing those things on anyone.

'Shafted' is right. Bellbottoms look right only on salors and that's because it's part of their traditional uniform.

If you are in a country run by radical religious fanatics, regardless of faith, you could be locked up at least, or get far worse for wearing the wrong gender's clothing.

I think it is highly unlikey that we will ever return to the days of Louis XIV, when it was considered fashionable for men to wear high heels and display their legs in stockings.

Absolutly agree. Some fashion eras are best not repeated. The era from 1969 to 1982 is one of them.Generally the worst looking shoes I have ever seen. I always considered the time between 1969 and 1982 as the ultimate black hole of both womens fashion and heels. I did like to wear (the feel) of my 3" Hush Puppy loafers my parents bought me when i was a kid. Back then heel height at least to 3" was not considered odd for men, but I still did not like the looks.
Platforms today are only better because they at least have narrow heels. Heels should never be as wider or even wider than the shoe itself.

You got to add Burkinstocks and Earth shoes to the ugly parade.
-
They are as ugly as Birkinstocks and Earthshoes.

It is unfortionate, but in her latter years, Ms. Houston created her own troubles through alcohal and drugs. Those 2 things raised havoc with her health and most unfortionately her voice. She lost her trade mark of being able to hit the very high notes in her latter years. The very thing that people went to her concerts for. It seems to be a pattern for the young and beatifully talented artists to die prematurely, due the excesses of their life styles.

I would expect to see a boot like that only in MAD magazineBeyonce Knowles is some very weird boots.

Looks like YSL tribute sandals. Nice shoes, btw, but a bit difficult to walk with, maybe:
The lady in the video is Mylène Farmer, a very famous french singer who can superbly manage very high heels. So, the stairs are to blame rather than the shoes.
The thick carpet on those stairs did not help either.

Her legs do look good. However, her politics reek like a roadkill skunk.

I think it might be a good idea to split this pole into 2 catagories- Clasic High Heel Icons (pre 1970 perhaps) and Modern High Heel Icons (post 1970). There are outstanding beauties in both eras.

That style of boots belongs on a medieval court jester, not on any 21st century man.

These 'Flatforms' remind me of the Japanese geta sandals. The getas looked right with a traditional kimono. As for flatforms, they don't look right with western or oriental clothing.
-
They look down right ugly. A very suitable replacement for crocks on the hideous shoe list.
-
It looks like a 70's men's disco shoe. I think I had a pair like that back in the day.
-
Finaly someone has come up with something worse than crocks.
-
$100 for those ugly things? What a waste. You can get several good looking pairs of shoes for that kind of money.

One thing I notced about outlet stores is the hit or miss quality of service. In my area, several of the stores I go to, have only a couple of clueless cashiers up front, and were restocking the shelves after hours. The high end stores, like electronic stores had better service, but not as good as the regular stores.
-
Some of the items sold at outlet stores have minor defects, that will not effect the over all quality of the item. Or it could be repackaged, returned items that the companies cannot sell in their mainline stores. However, the vast majority of the items that they sell at outlet stores, are left over items from the last season and or items that have been supercieded by newer and improved versions of the product in their main line stores. Some items just do not sell at main line stores. The compainies want to get some return for their investment, while at the same time protecting the company's image and brand name. Factory outlet stores are a way to do that.

Dont they look homemade? Like someone put them together in their basement.
It may have been made by an amateur. But remember that Crocks were designed and made by profesionals. We all know how hideous they look.

Crocs and Birkenstocks just got some competition in the ugly department.
