I thought those Faith "Majesty" boots looked good so I ordered a pair in size 9 from the Faith web site. I had to pay £40 rather than £32 but that still seemed like a good price. They are nice comfortable boots and fit my feet very well but there are 2 disappointments. One is that the back half of the shaft is not real leather. It's correctly stated on the box but it's claimed as leather uppers on the web site. The other is that they are far too wide for my slim calves. I've found out Achilles details from Dr Shoe so I reckon I'll take them down to him to be altered. Faith's web site is down today (26/4) so I can't re-check the description.

Sounds like you had a good trip. The North Laine area of Brighton is definitely rather like Camden. People dressed in all sorts of clothes you could imagine. Still not many men wearing heels apart from the gothic types in their heavy platform boots. Rest of Brighton is London by the sea. I usually end up parking in the Hanover area which is outside the controlled zone though I can't imagine it will be for much longer. Then it's about 10 minutes walk down to North Laine area (but up hill on the way back to the car).

Lovely colour boots. Even more interesting instrument. Clearly not a 'cello. Is it a baryton? PS: Me being stupid and not reading that you said it was a viol. I thought I saw frets and made a guess.

After lurking (and enjoying) for a while I finally got round to registering. I may not post much but I'll continue to read with interest. Had a couple of false starts with registration where the system accepted me but then refused to let me log in. If any admins are reading this could they please delete users "at1" and "gx1" which were my failed attempts.
