I received this email trough one of the Yahoo Groups that I am a member of:

"According to Reuters, a High heel race was held in Moscow this

Saturday July 28th. The required minimum heel height was 9 cm. Similar

events also took place in St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk,

and Samara, and the winner in Moscow was the Muscovite Maria Kanarova."

Follow this link to a videoclip on Reuters homepage:

Glamour stilletto race? UGH! I know a Polish street-heeler who's much more emancipated than me [he wears stillettos and skirts]. He attended the event, complied with all conditions, but wasn't allowed to participate because he's male. The rules didn't clearly state that only women can take part in the run, though. Anyway, the race was won by a CD, who was probably "well-done"- paradoxical, eh? 8)

What is good for a goose, can be good for any gender!

Same here in the Netherlands, but they explicitly stated it in the rules.

Dutch are quite open for new things, but some things just stay in the (shoe) closet. But we can only hope (and if, I'll be the one crossing the finish line first 8) ).
