Shafted Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 Dawn HH, I think you misunderstood my posting as it is by a Zappos customer named Amber N in regards to her male coworker. It happens to be a review of the boots I'm interested in aquireing. Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Shafted:-) Too good to be true, eh! I quess that I did mis-read your post and thanks for the heads-up on it. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 18, 2005 Author Posted June 18, 2005 I ran some errands today in my Candie's boots. Went to Reny's (A local chain discount store here in Maine) for candles and other supplies. Walked into the store and headed for the basement level where the candles are. The store was fairly busy and as I started down the stairs I overheard a guy say to is wife, "Will you get a look at whats going down the stairs." Finally an unsolicited comment! Well I continued down the stairs as if I hadn't heard a thing. I was having difficulty finding tealights so I asked the woman in charge of that level of the store if they had any. She said they did and took me right to them. I got the rest of the stuff I needed and paid for them and headed next door to the theatre where I needed to replace the intermittant movement in one of the projectors. After leaving the theatre I next headed to Bud's Shop & Save for grocery's that I'll need as I am having a houseguest tonight who wants to check out my home theatre system. Specifically he wants to check out my Sharp Notevision LCD video projector because he wants to see just how good they are before buying one himself. Thighbootguy is right about the shopping cart, I think it keeps a lot of people from noticing my boots. Nobody noticed that I could tell and nobody commented. In fact in the nearly two weeks I've been street heeling, I've only recieved 2 comments not really directed at me that were both fairly neutral. Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Shafted:-) Keep on street-heeling as you have just barely started and other comments may come later on. Let us know what happens then. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Well, worked at the theatre again tonight wearing my high heeled boots. The more I interact with the public while wearing them the more I realize that people accept heels on a guy. Those that have had any comment at all were more amused by it. I'm only too happy to let that group be amused by the sight of a guy in heels. The total lack of responce is not at all what I expected when I started street heeling. I think that the fact that I dress in all men's clothing with the exception of the footwear really make people think that I'm just trying to be different from the norn. Shafted, the boots that is! JeffB Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Well, Shafted, if you don't mind my tossing in my two cent's worth, I think that one reason that most people don't respond to you and your footwear is that they're too wrapped up in their own lives and affairs to pay you much, if any attention. People see me in heels every day and, more often than not, I don't even rate a double take. Now, what those same people do behind my back is another matter, but I don't worry about that. Another factor is that people probably don't know how to react to seeing a man in women's shoes, so they opt not to respond to you. Just something for you to consider. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

JeffB Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 You're probably right Jeff, and it suits me just fine. No reaction is better than a bad one. Can't argue that, Shafted. Words can indeed hurt, and hurt a lot if you don't have what I call the "emotional armor" to deal with any sort of negative comments about things people find to be outside the norms of society. And what people dislike, they usually denigrate. I've heard more than my fair share of hurtful words and comments when I first began wearing heels, it used to make me feel afraid to venture out because I didn't want to deal with such things. But, over time, I've built up my armor to shield me, and now the rare instance of insults that come my way no longer bother me. We all have our own comfort levels when it comes to wearing heels in public. Some do it with no problem while others are closeted out of fear. So, in the end, we all must do what we must to enjoy our passion in the best way we know how! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Well I just ordered the Two Lips boots from Zappos in black. If I know Zappos they'll be on my doorstep no later than the day after tomorrow. Having only one pair of heels for street heeling bites! This second pair should allow me to vary it a bit now. All I can say now is that the shoe buying bug is beginning to bite me now. Must have more heels for street heeling. Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 JeffB:-) Once again...I couldn't agree with you more. Shafted:-) Once you start street-heeling you never have enough shoes or boots. It is very contagious. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
JeffB Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Shafted:-) Once you start street-heeling you never have enough shoes or boots. It is very contagious. Cheers--- Dawn HH HA!! Tell me about it! Over two dozen pairs and counting! And, amazingly enough, I'm always in the market for more if I see something I like! Contagious is a very apt term! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 Well to my surprise Zappos delivered my new boot today. Thats next day service for free. I used their supper saver shipping which is supposed to be 5 to 9 days. They even e-mailed me saying that they were upgrading my shipping at no cost to me because I was such a valued customer. Now that's service! The boots are great and are even more comfortable than my Candie's. The heels are actually the same height as my Candie's but it's a stiletto rather than a blade. I found them even easier to walk in than the blade heels. FYI: The heel isn't fully breasted. The sole only goes a far as the beginning of the heel block and doesn't continue down the leading edge of the heel like my other heels. Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Shafted:-) Can we have a few pics of your new boots? Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 Well by popular demand here they are. The Candie's are the pair on the left and the Two Lips on the right. And here's yours truly wearing the Two Lips. Please excuse the hair my hair stylist has been booked solid, but I have an appointment with him this weekend. Well I got my first unsolicited good comment from a woman I know saying that she really liked my boots (Two Lips) while at the movie theatre tonight. She asked "Don't they hurt your feet though?" to which I replied "Not at all." Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Shafted:-) Hey! Thanks! The direct links came up great and filled my whole screen. A couple of really nice pairs of boots. Do you wear them on the street? Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
JeffB Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 The pics through fine, Shafted. Nice boots, my friend, very stylish, I'm sure they were worth every penny you spent. I too would like to know if you've worn them out in public. Be sure to let us know when you have. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 Thanks! Yes the boots on the left (Candie's) are the ones I'd been street heeling in since I started this thread and the others (Two Lips) also joined the ranks of street heeling boots almost as soon as I recieved them. I've been everywhere in them except for my day job. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 25, 2005 Author Posted June 25, 2005 Well, I'm going on a new adventure here in about an hour. I'm going to a salon to get my hair cut. As I've never been there before in heels, it should be quite interesting. I'm going to wear the Two Lips boots there. Sitting in the hair chair in the salon is definitly going to put my boots on display for all to see. I'll let everbody know what happens good or bad. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 25, 2005 Author Posted June 25, 2005 Well today I went to the hair salon in my Two Lips boots. Despite having showed up early as recommended for the appointment and waiting in the lounge/reception area with other people (all women today), no one seemed to notice the guy in stiletto boots. In fact I was the only one in the whole salon in heels, and yes they make plently of noise on brick floors. The shoe of choice for most of the women? Argh, flip flops! I wish somebody would tell these people, your not supposed to wear these things in public. I could understand if they were there for a pedicure. Ladies, I don't care how well you dress or how much of a beauty you are, if you wear flip flops in public you look dumpy. Got in the chair, proceeded with the usual banter. No mention of my footwear there either. Got the cut and tipped him, went clicking back to the lobby and paid. From there I went grocery shopping and more of the same. More of people not seeming to notice and more ugly, discusting, revolting flip flops. Come on ladies, there is much better comfortable footwear out there to show off you new pedicure than flip flops. JeffB Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Hiya, Shafted! Great story about your experience at the salon in your boots. And I couldn't agree with you more about how repulsive flip-flops are. It's like women don't care about their appearance when they wear those hideous things. The only thing worse than how ugly those things look is the teeth gnashing slapping sound they make when women walk in them. AARRGGHHHH!!!! Makes nails on a blackboard sound pleasant by comparison! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
jim Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Very nice boots Shafted,I like both pairs alot. They are simple and with out fuss and are spot on as street wear. BTW...what did you wear with your still's when you went to the hair salon.? jim edited to add: Thanks for showing us a full lenght photo Shafted, its great to be able to put a face to a name......so... Shafted Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 Well worked at the theatre again tonight. I wore the Two Lips boots with black Levis and the white "BITE ME" t-shirt. Dawn HH Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Shafted:-) Congrats on street-heeling in both pairs of your new boots. They seem to be just the thing for some male street-heeling adventures. Speaking of adventures, I enjoyed your story at the hair salon. It seems that you and your boots were both accepted there and you can now comfortably repeat that performance again and again. Now as to a compliment at the theatre...you would think that the lady would mention your boots, not your t-shirt. What's the matter with these people, are they brain-dead? Oh well, I guess a compliment is a compliment any way you get it. Congrats again. Keep us all posted on the events. Excellent reading. BTW:...I quite agree with you and JeffB on the flip-flops. AAAAARRRGGGGGGGGGG!!! Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
