Allyx Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 I'd like to order three pairs of heels from Zappos.com, but they won't ship outside of the US. Are there any kind souls (or should that be soles ) in the US who would be willing to purchase them on my behalf and ship them to the UK? I'm thinking of non-California, Kentucky, and Nevada residents, as they have to pay sales tax! I would of course pay all necessary costs, including onward shipping to the UK. Paypal seems the most obvious way of doing this! I'm not ready to place an order yet, just dipping a pointy toe in the water to see if it's even feasible.
Bubba136 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Will Zappo's accept PayPal as a form of payment? Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Allyx Posted November 13, 2004 Author Posted November 13, 2004 No, they won't. From what I can see, they won't even accept my Visa credit card as its registered address is here in the UK.
GrayLion Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 you wouldn't have friend in the US military closer to home? Shipments to APO addresses are cheap and consdiered to be US.
Allyx Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 Unfortunately, not. Even if I didn' I'm not at the stage where any of my relatives (or friends) know about my heely desires...
Bubba136 Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 While there's nice styles available here in the USA, I've found that the shoe sales places in the UK and cities in Europe has equally as nice footwear for sale. In fact, I've seen a lot of styles I would like to have that are sole by LSB, La Piazza and several other Internet sites. So, while it's enticing to covet some pairs that are only sold here, I'm sure that with a little browsing you will find something equally enticing in the UK. Firefox Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 The other problem with ordering from abroad is you get hit for all sorts of customs duty, VAT, transport, packing or other other taxes. Any price you see you can add $40-50 to straight off.
Calv Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Allyx I concur with Firefox. If the package is worth more than about £25 it will attract duty, VAT and an £8.00 charge from Royal Mail for their time in working out all the extra charges. AFAIK all US States except Oregon and Alaska? charge sales tax. If the shoes dont fit you are then out of pocket as you are likely to be able to return them. Far safer to try over here. Just out of interest which styles have you got in mind? Calv (who has tried a similar course before) Do your own thing. Don't be a victim of conformity. Calv
Allyx Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 These are the ones - It's hard to find much in US Size 13! http://www.zappos.com/n/p?p=7138298&c=20881 http://www.zappos.com/n/p?p=7138312&c=19251 http://www.zappos.com/n/p?p=7139432&c=99 and I'd buy these in a shot if they did them in my size! http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/126132.html
Firefox Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 I have seen at least two women wearing Diesel Cuzca on the train in and out at London which leads me to believe they might be available in the UK somewhere.
Allyx Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Or they might just be visiting Blighty from the US!
Allyx Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Well if you can find them online in the UK, you're a better man than I!
Taccofan Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I have ordered some shoes using this companys services: http://www.usglobalmail.com/. You can make purchases where ever you want and they will send them to you. Only thing is that you must know your size exactly...
