Guest Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Richard O'Brien The Rocky Horror Show writer discusses his gender and feelings behind RHS. A very open feeling that I'm sure can be identified with many members here, whether it be greater or lesser degrees. This came out as a link on the shows Facebook page http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21788238 Al
Histiletto Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Life should be learning experiences as each of us choose our direction. Obviously, understanding as much as we can and applying precautions have to be considered for the risks and the possible outcomes for certain decisions, because some may limit any other directions and therefore, be more stifling than enriching. Yes, there are moral principles that have to be weighed, but if things such as social standards keep us from living life to its fullest then they should be corrected or modified, respectively. Men and women wearing heels is as much apart of life as dressing up is for a social occasion. I may cringe to see jeans or trousers worn below ones natural waist exposing their underwear and the punk hair styles have often made me take a second gawk to believe what I'm seeing, but life should be full of intriguing and different varieties. Of course, I only want certain selections, but how could I have known about them if some one hadn't invisioned or created the illusion to be adapted or included. The technology that we have available now has made going through so many doors for learning a lot easier. Who knows where we could be as a civilization were we able to explore these new to us frontiers.

HappyinHeels Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Absolutely fascinating article. I know this is something many of us grapple with to varying degrees. Having previously worked at a major international airport I was well aware of the situations of transgendered passengers presneting as one gender while their passport stated another and found myself having to give others (I was a manager back then) a quick primer on such things and the different laws governing such. I learned of the UK's gender identity laws because one such passenger referrred for a more throrough look when all that needed was a little more understanding. I suspect the same percentages as Mr. O'Brien minus the small boobs. Like HiStiletto says we are all living our journey and learning along the way just where we are on that spectrum. HappyinHeels
