Bespoke Heels

Does anyone know of any retailers who will make proper bespoke shoes i.e. with a made to measure last? Burlesque Blue do a 'made to measure' service but that appears to be just tracing around your foot and then send it in to them.

My wife broke her foot some years ago and struggles to find heels which fit correctly. She cannot wear a heel above 3" for any length of time. The fit is important as she has 'bumps' which have never gone away after her operations.

She recently saw these in Dune and I would like to get them made for her as she was very disappointed when they didn't fit.

Moral of the story is never try and walk downstairs when you're half asleep

Thanks

@5.5 - Yes, in the UK. Will check out Fabulously Fetish. Thanks @ pussyinboots - Whilst I would love to say fetish, the true answer would be everyday. The flexibility in my wife's foot precludes the heel heights above about 3" or at a real push 3.5"

Digitalis I think fabulouslyfetish makes burlesque blue shoes. BB are a middle man with a bit more marketing nouse than FF. FF have a showroom and a website but neither does them justice. In the background, they're an old fashioned cobbler (Cos K is the man there - google him) with lots of machines whirring away and they can make you whatever you want in a choice of leathers, styles etc. As most old fashioned craftsmen's businesses are, their communications and timescales are not the best organised - but they're good old fashioned cobblers. I went there and got measured in person (took 3 visits as they made sample shoes then adjusted them after I tried them on) and had a personal last made for me (that they hold for you) and had a great pair of shoes made on that last - totally to my specification. Not cheap but not mega bucks, and much cheaper than tossing a coin on sizes on the internet. Now that I paid the measurement and last making fee, the shoes are "normal" prices after that. I will be getting more shoes made to my custom size last for sure. Let us know how you get on

I purchased a pair from BB and was under the impression that I dealt with the owner, personally during the purchase process. We could always ask Gina about BB.

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

@5.5 Thanks. I emailed FF and got a great reply the next day. Will investigate further. The difficult part will be persuading my wife that whilst it FF are geared towards 'fetish shoes' they can also produce day to day shoes. I was travelling for business and was passing what I thought was BB's workshop in Scotland. They definitely don't make shoes there! I suspect it is their trading and company address. Again, thanks everyone for your help.

Cos at FF will make you whatever you want - believe me. It may take some time as they are not terribly market driven (thankfully, or they'd go the same way most shoemakers did i.e. plastic rubbish). Their name may imply fetish only but their site has some low heeled stuff as well - so suspecting wives should be able to understand that specialist shoemakers are not "weird". I've been to their factory / workshop and they are the real old fashioned shoemakers, now with a bit of a showroom - a rare treat.
