Dr. Shoe Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 As seen on another forum: This subject of course is dear to many of us. Looking at MoneySavingExpert earlier, I came across this:- Get 10% off at outsize women’s shoe retailer http://www.bigshoeboutique.co.uk/. Just enter OCT10BSB at the online checkout. It’s valid on everything, including sale items, until Sat 31 Oct. There’s no minimum spend needed. Get free delivery when you spend over £40 using undated code MOV4B. I haven't used this retailer before (or heard of them) so can't vouch for them. Maybe some of you have? But best hurry, there's not much time left on the 10% off. Thighboots2 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Good info Dr Shoe. Couple of pairs of 4" courts for a tenner on offer, and upto UK11 as well. Customer reviews for these two cheapies are favorable too. Gotta be a bargain. Really useful shop for big shoes is the Barratts/Pricelessshoes/discountshoestore websites. Simon. Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?
geiger_girl Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Anyone got any sizing info as to whether they run true, large or small? JA is normally a UK 11 but fits in an Evans 10 and most Pleaser 11.5's Thanks GG
Thighboots2 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 GG, Their shoes do vary a bit, but if he's a Pleaser 11.5, then the Barratts group footwear shoulod easily be in his range. The leather 4" courts are a perfect fit, but I am at the small end of 10. Now I can't use a Pleaser 12, yet the Pleaser 13 is like a boat on my foot, so no Pleaser for me. Strange. There are a couple of 11s on the pricelessshoes website and that link will take you to their specialist size category. Returns via the Barratts shops are fine, delivery is excellent. Prices are stupidly cheap. Simon. Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?
Puffer Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Yes, there are some attractive 11s on the Priceless site, although the sizing chart suggests that 11 = Eu44 (not 45) so I would question the fit. The most obvious style for male heeling is this 'Kelpie' boot: http://www.pricelessshoes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product1_11051_-1_115104_11051 But look at the description: Is it really a 'platform boot' (not that I would want that)? Not much sign of it, even if thin and concealed. And I don't believe the heel height is truly 12cm (4.75"); it looks a good inch less. The single review is not exactly encouraging as it suggests the size runs small whilst giving no further comment. The 'Kuvasz' stiletto boot looks good (but much more feminine); it also comes in an 11 and has good reviews. The heel is unspecified but looks a good 3". IMHO, that is a boot that should be acceptable for male wear (e.g. on show with skinny jeans). I wonder ...
barney15c Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I've bought the detune shoes (4 inch courts £10-£13 depending on colour) in 6 colours... Red Suede, Black Suede, Purple Suede, Grey Suede, Black Croc and Pink. You cant go wrong for the money. I bought a size 11 (i am a 9-10) and found them too big so they should fit to size. They arent built to last but there are not many places doing 10 -11s this cheap. Recommended. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king!!!
Thighboots2 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Puffer, Yup I wondered about the description of that boot and the picture. Neither platform nor 12cm heel in evidence on that one. Remember that in the ladies world, the Eu size is one less than the mans. The length is the same, but the width is narrower. Like many, I vary in shoe size according to the manufacturer. I range from 43 to 45, but mostly 43. Happily the barratts 10s are good for me, snug on width but that is to be expected. I would therefore conclude that the 11's will be good for those whose bottom end is 44. It does appear that this group is taking the bigger footed more seriously than anyone else and it is notable that it is usually the larger sizes that they run out of first. I'm sure they have noted this and that is why they are slowly expanding the models on offer at the larger end. Barney, you are so right. I know they quote the heels as 10cm, but at the top end, they are usually higher than that. What do yours measure? Almost 11cm I expect. For the price, they knock everything else into a cocked hat! Simon. Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?
barney15c Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 I've measured them and the heel is bang on 10cm for a size 10, cant say what a size 11 is as i sent mine back. Talking of big shoe boutique, they are selling a satin peep toe platform pump (model name octave) for £10!!!! Now I normally i hate open toe shoes but these are really nice, so i have ordered the black , cobalt blue and pink. Effectively 3 pairs for the cost of one if you were to look for a similar pair elsewhere, an absolute bargain. Its good that barratts have recognised that larger sizes sell well too and are upping their range, i used to have to buy Evans as that was all there was in mainstream models in a 10 but with prices like these i will be buying more, and whats more for the money they are quite well made. I'm sure they have noted this and that is why they are slowly expanding the models on offer at the larger end. Just looked at the reviews for the detune pumps on Big Shoe Boutique and the latest couple are definately from men, like you say Thighboots i dont think this is lost on BSB, so with any luck they will make more of their range available in the larger sizes (10/11). Since the detune model has come out i have bought 8 pairs in various colours and some duplicates especially since the price cuts (some models are down to £8.00), i love them, and for the money are pretty well made. I dont wear my heels outside so theoretically should last longer. Evans used to get most of my business...not anymore. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king!!!
fatchester Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 there is also now an extra 20% off as well I like the 'bullmastif' Studded Strap Ankle Boot, but that only goes up to a 9.
