  1. I agree with Kneehigh's thoughts. I'm not sure if Syro's trend has reached Gladwell's tipping point, but their offerings are indicative of a general direction. I find their products progressively fashion forward, which generally don't appeal to a wide audience, regardless of where they fall on a feminine/masculine spectrum. I think it's a nice trend in any case.

  2. Freestyle75, I encourage you to start your own thread or blog, I really like your taste. Too few here have a real fashion sense. It's been years since I've posted (photos particularly--and now very dated) but I still read, and you are my favorite. The crossing walk story was fun. Maybe you should have gone to the restaurant.

  3. What I find interesting, Kneehighs, is the attribution to the advertising industry, of which I'm a part: The rise of consumerism directed at children making them "the subjects of persuasive and sophisticated advertising that tends to reinforce social conventions. So they think, for example, that what makes someone female is long hair and a dress." Conventions become standardized when media is ubiquitous. Some independent thinking, outside conventional media norms, by parents (and society) would help.

  4. A lot of Internet action on the personal essay of Pulitzer-prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger, who acknowledges in GQ a uncontrollable shopping addiction, spending astronomical amounts of money on fashion, particularly Gucci, particularly leather, including embracing his feminine side and buying 5 inch heel knee high boots. Interesting in part because he writes mostly about sports and authored "Friday Night Lights". A long story but a good read.

    Here's a quote:

Some of the clothing is men's. Some is women's. I make no distinction. Men's fashion is catching up, with high-end retailers such as Gucci and Burberry and Versace finally honoring us. But women's fashion is still infinitely more interesting and has an unfair monopoly on feeling sexy, and if the clothing you wear makes you feel the way you want to feel, liberated and alive, then fucking wear it.

  5. Yes, I did. There was no indication up to and including the last post on January 2nd.

Could be a personal issue, perhaps - we can't do anything about it.

Would love to see you following me on http://highheelspass...ive.tumblr.com/ and maybe even submit Photos you find by clicking on the "+" sign in the lower left corner.

I checked out your tumblr. Well done. You are a little more selective than Lolla and I think it's better, actually.

I have to admit I was surprised that near the bottom were 6 or 7 shots of me (mostly with numbers in the upper left hand corner). I don't mind, but they're 4 or 5 years old and I don't think I even own the pictured footwear any more. I've never quit reading HHPlace, but I've mostly quit posting. If I get real motivated, maybe I'll take some new photos and post them. Into fashion, like I am, I think I'm feeling that I don't want to be dated by such old photos!

  6. The UPS lady (whom I secretly lust after) just brought me a new pair of shoes! Wow! They are beautiful, such soft, supple leather, but they are very steep. The heel is every bit of 5 inches, and there's not much of a platform. I'm going to have to practice to be able to wear these out without looking like an idiot. What do you think?

Those are nice. What brand are they?

  7. A recent Fast Company magazine cover with American talk show host Conan O'Brien in black stiletto boots. The cover story is about The 100 Most Creative People in Business.

This reminds me of a time when I was wearing Black Stiletto Crocodile Textured pumps and a man and with his girlfriend approached me saying "you seem like the creative type"

I find being in the creative field of fashion helps loads as my heels just go hand in hand with the field I work in.

I'm a graphic designer and I can attest to what Kneehighs says. People almost expect a certain degree of "edge" to what I wear. In fact I was once told it was to my business advantage, because I look like a designer.

  8. Olounda: Just like JeffB, you also have nearly all positive comments, with the only negative comments vigorously defended. You really did rock those heels that day a school. Congratulations. Perhaps they should have run that photo together with the newspaper article about you in the student paper. -- FashionableFun (from Salt Lake) Link to comments: <a href="http://poorlydressed.failblog.org/2011/12/11/fashion-fail-come-on-man-its-not-like-you-need-the-extra-height/?utm_source=embed&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=sharewidget"><img class='event-item-lol-image' src='http://poorlydressed.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/fashion-fail-come-on-man-its-not-like-you-need-the-extra-height.jpg' alt="fashion fail - Come on man, it's not like you need the extra height" title="Come on man, it's not like you need the extra height" height="664px" width="500px" /></a><br />see more <a href="http://poorlydressed.failblog.org?utm_source=embed&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=sharewidget">Poorly Dressed</a>

  9. I've seen these boots for sale about a year and a half ago. To me they are the perfect thigh boots, very chic and not trashy in any way. They are also YSL so you know they are top quality. The reason these boots aren't purchased and on the way to me as I'm writing this is because no matter how hard I'd try, I could never fit my feet in them.

I can only dream to find these in a size 10 us/41 europe. If anyone does find them in that size, please let me know. In the meantime, I envy anyone here who has the right foot size (I suspect only the women may apply) and the desire to buy these.

Max, I love those boots as well. I'll let you have the first ones you find in that size, but can I be the second? -- FF

  10. It has been a year since any activity to this thread has been inputted. I hope you all are well and doing fine. The economy has really taken its toll as far as I'm concerned. Till later, HAPPY HEELING!

I'm well and in SLC. Used to post more often, only seem to read lately.

  11. I went to the Mall Yesterday to paruse some shoes, and get a sandal that i have wanted for the past few months. I went to Aldo first, and oh my word, those sales folk were soooo nice! I pointed out the shoe i wanted to try on, gave them my size, she said we were out, but they had the size smaller, and they also had a different style in my size, so i said I'd try them all on. So she brought out a bunch of 40's and 41's for me to try. Some of them fit wonderfully, some not so much. The real kicker was how good they treated me, No bias, no judgment, just saleswoman to client. It was really refreshing.

After trying on 8-10 pairs, i was still wishing they had the sandals i wanted in my size, so she said she could order them. I asked her to hold the thought, and that i would be back. So, I left the store, went onto the store Bakers, and it was like i walked into into an exclusive club for women. My friend liz asked about some boots, and i asked aobut some shoes, and when i asked, the sales woman gave me the dirtiest look, and said "we dont carry YOUR size" (even though i knew they carried ample 10's, and some 11's), but she said it very like "oh my gosh, why are you in my store" like. It was upsetting to me, i dont think i'll go back to bakers. So liz and i continued our jaunt around the mall, and found nothing else of awesomeness, so we went back to aldo, and i ordered these in black.

All in all, it was a great shopping trip :)

Olounda: I've bought multiple pairs of heels in both the Aldo and Bakers stores at the very same mall your mentioned (I'm a local) and the help and acceptance you get just depends on the sales associate. I've had good experiences with both -- although I like the fashions better at Aldo (but they often seem to run a bit small). -- FF
  12. I've got to give it to lolla, a banned member of hhplace.

He's got the best blog on men in heels going and he just keeps chugging away, month after month. Now he has people submitting photos of themselves to him and is slowly gaining the attention of the blogosphere.

Cheers to a great job at

    highheelspassion.blogspot.com

    You keep going lolla.

    Keep going!

    ;)

From the highheelspassion.blogspot.com website I also discovered the facebook page "High Heels for Men" http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=21208181377&view=all which is run by Victor Blanco, a Spanish fashion stylist who displays a very strong fashion sense together with a passion for high heels. He has nearly 300 photos of himself and others all in heels. He also has a blog, "The Last It Boy", http://lastitboy.blogspot.com/, which is not exclusively about high heels, but definitely includes stylish feminine footwear and fashions. I like the stuff.
  13. I thought it would be a good idea to bump this thread. I can't believe I missed it before.

Fashionablefun's outfits are pure class in my honest opinion. When I think of mens mainstream fashion with heels, I'm thinking of these looks.

Bravo and thank you for giving me some outfit ideas. ;-)

Thanks, Max. Your comments are appreciated, particularly coming from someone who's style I admire. With your encouragement I'll break out the camera again and take a few shots of new additions to the collection.
