This is my final good bye post for hhplace, in the remote chance it'll impacty anyone reading.

First, we live in an increasingly decentralized world.  Instead of relying on centralized sources for information, a new social media world that is very LGBTQ friendly, with way more protections than exist here has blossomed since 2006.  Social media is very LGBTQ friendly.  The protections are like an umbrella and spill over to men who wear heels.  In 2006, there weren't many online community options for men who wear heels as men.  In 2020, there doesn't even need to be special options anymore.  Men in heels in such an integrated part into society's expectation for what is normal, it's astonishing.  And the information is decentralized.  On Instagram a search for the #heelsformen hashtag pulls up 2,256, #meninheelsevent hashtag pulls up 128 posts and #meninheels pulls up 64,803 posts.  On TikTok a search for #meninheels, pulls up 50.5 million views.  That's 33,180 views per day on average since TikTok's inception in September of 2016.  Why spend time creating content for hhplace when I could create content for my own audience and possibly even monetize it, or at worst, get free product?

Second, on a more specific forum note, locking up JeffB's thread was the straw that broke the camels back for me.  Locking up Thighbootguy's thread set the stage.  Cancel Culture times two, literally.  In 2006, hhplace's landing page used to say, "Whether you're a man, a woman, or in between, whether you wear high heels yourself or just like the looks of them.  It doesn't matter, you've come to the right place".  How times have changed.

Some may rationalize this is a forum for both men and women.   It's like because that's what they say, they reality follows.  That is not the case at all. The reality is men create the bulk of content that creates the page views, page clicks, and what little advertising revenue this site generates.  And with the huge number of options available to females in the digital age, the probability they'll plant a flag at hhplace is low.  That's the reality.  For me, Tech's bat bashing, bull in a china shop mouth is no longer worth tolerating.  He has never taken personal responsibility for his bat bashing, bull in a china shop mouth.  He will no doubt say I'm being too sensitive, or misinterpreting his statements, or find some way to point the finger back at me.  I guarantee it.  Yo man, take responsibility for your reckelss mouth.  The pattern hasn't changed since 2006.  Tech rocks the boat when there is no need to rock the boat.  Besides his professional contributions to keeping the site running, his unruly mouth knows no bottom.

I'm not going to build someone elses audience, page views, page clicks when my voice means little to such a reckless mouth.

May hhplace live well on into the future.  I wish no ill will on anyone here, but after nearly 20 years here, multiple in Real Life Heel Meets, and lots of evangelizing, my time here has expired.

    Best,

    Kneehighs

I've been reading your posts for 18-19 years years, Kneehighs, and I will miss them. We even had dinner in NYC many years ago. Your posts have been interesting and fashion-centric, which I like, although I agree, the forum is no longer a unique gathering place like it once was. Heels for men is a rather widespread phenomena now.

In the last few months I've taken up a keen interest in photography, landscapes, astro, portraiture, street, etc. It's all fun to me. It also gives me the opportunity to have a nice fun creative outlet with the clothes I like wearing. The pictures also end up looking a hell of a lot better than my cell phone pics look. Still have a lot to learn on the photography side, but I'm pretty happy with how these pictures turned out.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well and staying healthy.

The photos are nicely done (and the shoes nice as well). I'd enjoy seeing more.

  3. I have a couple Vince Camuto boots in size 10, that I can wear comfortably, even though I'm normally an 11. They are both older however, 2016 - 2018, I believe.

This is one of the Camuto's, from my Fashionably Fun Collection thread.

  4. Not a lot happening on this forum recently, so I thought I'd find an old photo and upload. These are Jessica Simpson, size 11. I like the block heel and apparently so do others, because I've gotten positive comments more than once. Twice at gas stations/convenience stores. Once last winter a woman also pumping gas, glanced at my shoes and said, "I don't wear my girl shoes much at this time of year." I should have said, "It doesn't't stop me," but I missed it and instead just made a general comment about the weather. On another occasion, I went into the convenience store to buy a drink and a woman told me outside how much she liked my shoes -- and then commented again inside, asking me where I got them.

I missed an opportunity to wear heels to another unusual place--work. I am now actually working from home (instead of merely pretending to do so), as my Project Manager asked me to help pre-fill some paperwork for when we do get back to work, hopefully June 1. I borrowed somebody else's work computer, and struggled with it for two days before I finally called IT for help. They had me come up to the shop with it, which turned out to be the best thing I could have done, the IT guy got 'er all fixed up and working for me.

As you can imagine, my dilemma was this: Do I wear heels to the shop or not? After considering several options, I decided not. Instead, I wore my slightly heeled new-ish work boots, mentioned elsewhere on this forum, with straight leg jeans. The reason I decided not to wear heels was because I was not coming to the shop in a position of strength--I needed somebody's help to do my job. If it had been the other way, in other words, if I'd been called to the shop because somebody needed my help or advice, I would have seriously considered wearing heels.

There is validity to the point of coming from a position of power, a point I think @kneehighs has made. If you're in control, you are looked at differently. I teach at the University and I have run my own business. Employees and students have a respect for your fashion choices, that outside of those situations, may not exist.

I agree with you on the italicized.  Historically, assimilation within our local tribes is and has always been realistic.  "why aren't you wearing your heels today" is a common level achieved among veteran members.

From my end, the sales volume achieved through social media influence proves social media can change behavior, especially among GenZ and Millennials.  Less so among Gen X and Baby Boomers.

Imagine a newbie coming here though and reading the hateful comments? It's basically saying, "you can't sit with me".  How does that align with the purpose hhplace has carved for itself over the last 2 decades?

I agree regarding the need and importance of an overall tolerant attitude. There should be a wide level of acceptance of "unusual" behavior -- in society in general, put particularly in a forum such as this, which by its very nature is founded on the idea of "unusual" fashion.

2 hours walk  Not only in IKEA which bored me quickly

No reaction, but it looks masculine doesn’t it?

Not so many people scarred of the virus here.

I will fly back home on Tuesday and have canceled all trips until mid April.

Despite the high heel, they look masculine, I like them. Those are different than the series you posted a couple days prior, correct?

These boots are nice. The heel isn’t so high. Maybe would look more “man” with longer pants (?)

It definitely does look less feminine with longer pants and I have worn the boots that way. However shorter pants is definitely a fashion trend for both men and women and I own a lot of pants in that style.

What is it about these boots that make them acceptable to your wife? Or is it more what they are not? They are clearly beyond the height range of anything close to average.

    I had the same thought.

Though 4.5 niches high, I think it's just that these are chunky heels and not thin, which for her, are inappropriate.

These are 2 or 3 years old, another pair of Aldo, size 11, with track pants and an older photo in torn jeans. I prefer the track pants. The pink color is feminine as well as less attention-getting than dark colors. I've worn them many places, shopping at the mall, into Coach and H&M, at lunch and at a casino in Reno, Nevada, where I wore them to breakfast and checked out, dragging my luggage behind the clicking sounds. For some reason I've never had any comments on these heels.

I wore the exact above outfit today to lunch and shopping for a new bag at Coach, where I have purchased leather bags previously -- and this time I got a comment. The Asian sales associate was profusely complimentary about my shoes, telling me multiple times how much she loved them. She asked if I had purchased them there, at Coach, because she had an identical pair from the store. I told her I did not, that these were from Aldo, but she said they were a great color particularly for Spring and go well with a lot things. I feel like Asian women are more enthsiatic about high heels than Caucasians.

I am interested in any musical instrument, as I have a house full of them! What make is your piano, and do you personally play? Piano is not really my forte (ha ha), but I've got one anyway. Mine's an ancient Kimball 6' 3" grand that's in bad need of a rebuild.

The piano is a Weber, a nice, but not particularly expensive brand. I'm a life-long, adept guitar player, but just tinker around on the piano, though I'd like to get better. My daughter plays it well.

Although there's a lot to like about that outfit, including the boots, I'm way more interested in that piano.

I was anticipating responses about the footwear or clothes, but not that. Specifically. what peaks your interest in the piano?
