  1. I have heeled in HH Cowboy boots for many many years now. I started with a 3" heel which raised no looks at all. I now wear 4, 4.5 and 5" heel cowboy boots, and occassionally get comments like, "Wow, I haven't seen boots like that before" but they are usually followed with, "Those are pretty cool!!"

  2. I recently ordered these to see for myself what the quality is, as they will work you to create your own styles. But at $200 for a basic pair, I ordered some of their ready made to see what they are like.  This pair is a bit on the tall side for my daily wear, but will be nice for a night out!

Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, constructive criticism or viewpoints on these boots? They are on their way back to Miguel for the above changes. I am so excited I can't wait to get them back to actually wear them!!! TLAHHBoots!!

  4. As I type this reply, I look back on the 30 years of fashion that I have been a part of, and heeling began with a great pair of Cowboy boots that fit really great! But on the other hand I started wearing kilts after a tour in Scotland courtesy of Uncle Sam. I do not mix the two currently or previously. I have toyed with dressing, but only at Halloween. I have decided personally that I will kilt and utilikilt as a guy, and I will heel as a guy, but to dress enfemme, that is not who I am. But I agree with other poster's that in my opinion, jeans are jeans, shirts are shirts etc, and as it works out I am lanky enough that women's jeans fit much better than men's jeans, so that is what I wear all the time, and have for many years.

Nice boots!   I assume a 4" heel.   Personally, I would leave the heel exactly as it is - unless you are intending the boots to look more feminine; the overall look is fairly 'rugged' and balanced.

My MJ boots were well-made and a very good fit.  Despite the problem noted above, I would trust Miguel to make anything - but do make sure he is given correct measurements.

Yes, they are a 4" heel. I have another pair of MJ boots with 4.5" heel and a pair of MJ Boots with 3" heel, all very chunky heels. I wanted one pair that was a tall heel, but was just on the ragged edge of masculine vs feminine.....

Those MJ boots are super hot, very powerful and masculine, I wouldn't mess with the heels either, so sorry they don't fit right.  I have a few pairs of 5" MJ boots.

    Thanks!!!!

Yep, I agree. Don't mess with the boots' heels. They look great as is.

  6. Here are my new Jones Boots, and I am very excited to see that they are just as I had hoped. Unfortunately the ankle opening is too narrow for my big foot to fit. I have sent Miguel an e-mail to see where to return them for correction. I may ask him to take a little off the heel to to narrow it up just a tiny bit, though I like them as they are, if the bottom was narrowed by 1/4" side to side and also front to back It may make the seem less chunky, but on the other hand may make the boot too feminine, as that is not the look I am going for.

    What are your all thoughts?

  7. I have ordered 3 pair from him. The best fitting ones, we're the ones that I traced my foot out on, and mailed the measurements to him. That pair fit the best! But custom takes a long time. Always add almost a month to his estimates. But I love all three pair! TLAHHB's

  8. Nice sturdy boots, but a little too rugged for my taste. Can someone tell me the purpose of the straps around the instep - are they functional (I can't see how) or purely decorative?

All my other heeled boots are slick soles like dress shoes/pumps etc. I ordered these for wearing to work in the winter. They needed to be waterproof, good traction on ice and snow, and sturdy, as I am in and out of the truck, the office and out in the field all day, and in some of the nastiest winter weather the great white north can offer. I decided to save money on the stitching to keep them more of a work boot, but that was too plain, so I have always liked the Harley/biker harness style boots, so I asked Miguel to add the decorative harness onto the boots. I also had him add the zipper for ease if access, when I don't have my boot tree with me to remove my boots. Here in the north it is customary to remove your shoes at the door, and when wearing my other boots out and about, it can be a buy of a pain to get off my snug fitting boots.

  9. And they call heels "impractical".... ingenious ILK, ingenious! :)

When I play my guitar at church, I actually prefer to wear heels, though for now it is just HH cowboy boots. Singing is easier, and foot switches are a little easier. But would really prefer pumps for the same reason of the switches, but in today's society, my boots are accepted, but pumps would definitely not be....

  10. They look great! What is a J toe? Never heard of that term.

    Steve

It is a term used in Cowboy boots that indicates a toe that is rounded, but more pointy or sharp than a traditional round toe. They do not look too long like most pointy tie shoes/boots and they give more room in the toe box for better comfort for all day comfort.

  11. I would like to wear skinny jeans this year with my flashy 4.5" Jones Boots, but will have to drop a few pounds at the waist before I can pull off that look well. I like tight jeans, as my signature states, but having a belly hanging over the tight jeans ruins the look;-) TightLevisandHHBoots

  12. For many years now in only have women's jeans and underwear, as well as socks/hose/tights. My shirts are still about 50/50 and my jackets are about 50/50. Watch, bracelets, anklets belts and buckles are all women's too. Shoes now are mostly women's whenever I can find the right size in the style I need, but stuff like fishing and hunting boots are pretty much unisex... not looking to be a women or look like a women, just enjoy wearing their things! 13. I have now purchased 3 pairs of boots from Miguel Jones. They have all been one-off custom boots. The first was one of his first taller heel boots. They are a J-toe Cowboy boot with a 3.5 inch heel. I have completely worn them out, and am contemplating sending to him or another boot shop for a re-sole and re-heel. Sizing on that pair was spot on, if not a tad tight. The second pair was a custom color/pattern/stitching and heel. Black patent vamp, burgandy cherry toe and pull straps, scalloped trim between toe and vamp, red leather piping and lacing trim, and red stitching on the shaft made of black leather to contrast the black patent vamp and heel cap. Heel was 4.5 inches, and very western and nicly complementing the boots. This pair was more of an 11 than a 10.5, so I put a set of insoles inside, and wear thicker socks, and they are just fine! The latest creation, are rather plain, but are now my daily work wear.

These are a combination Engineer boot sole, harness boot shaft and harness, J-toe, and semi-western 3 inch heel that tapers to just smaller than 2 inch by 2 inch heel. All made of Oiled Black Leather, and made to the measurements of my foot this time vice a "size". THey also have a side zipper for easy on and off. The fit is like a glove! Very Very Nice. Because they were a custom boot, it took quite a while to make, and they also took a fair bit to ship due to getting caught up in customs for over a week. But I am very Very happy with them!!

  14. Havn't been here for a long time, but had to post that I just got a new pair of daily wear boots from Jones Boots in MX.

They are not a super high heel, but a great pair of daily wear boots. 3" heel. Heel is a bit narrower that traditional cowboy boots at a little smaller than 2 inch by 2 inch. Lugged sole for the winter here in the great white north, and oil tanned leather for weather proofing! They are made in the style of an engineer boot with the harness and zip side entry and a "J" toe. Let me know what you think!

  15. For years I have worn both my westernranch 3" or my Miguel Jones 3.5" Cowboy boots. For the past two years I regularly wear my Miguel Jones 4.5" custom cowboy boots that are black patent with burgundy toes and red leather lacing trim and red stitching. They are very fancy, and usually get compliments, even though I usually wear boot cut longer jeans with them. Tightlevisandhhboots

  16. Last winter I bought a pair of Payless boots that had a rather narrow (1"x1") heel. Wore the for a week in the snow in Anchorage Alaska. The only time I had issues was coming inside with still a bit of snow on the bottom of the boot then hitting a hard floor like tile, then I had to be very careful about slipping or twisting an ankle... But there is a certain amount of satisfaction when you can heel in snow! Tightlevisandhhboots

  17. On a recent shopping trip I picked up a pair of black stretch cotton slacks size 14 (no rear pockets). These turned out to be very comfortable, trim fitting, and better looking than any of my "guy" slacks. I wore these new slacks and black leather ankle boots with a 2" block heel to work today. No one even raised an eyebrow. I've been wearing boots like these for months so I wasn't surprised. In fact the only "guy" stuff I have on is my watch and a long sleeved dress shirt. This is a very comfortable way to dress.

I tend to agree that the current guy-cut clothes do not fit as well as the gal-cut clothing for me. I do not even own a pair of guy's pants any more. All my jeans, slacks etc are all womens, and I love the fit and the styling. I wear them with guys shirts, but occasionally mix in a gals shirt, and no one bats an eye, or else they don't say anything. Even belts and hosery I have about 50/50 mix. I do get to where my heels occasionally, but the need for a steel toe boot at work, has put a damper on my heeling days at work. Though on a recent vacation I bought from Payless, and then wore out of the store, a pair of HH boots with a more slender tapered block heel (about 1"x1" at the base) and a round toe. Again, wore them for a week on vacation, and no issues.

    Good luck on the heeling!!!

  18. I really like the way they feel walking in them, They are very well balanced,a nd are made for walking, though they are 4 inch heels, so if you are not practiced in wearing heels, they will require some practice. THe 4 inch and higher, definitely require that you take shorter strides/steps, and end up giving you a bit more sway to the hips :) I paid $249 usd for my 4 inch pair, and only $146 for my 3.5 inch pair since they were pretty simple black boots. Good Luck

  19. Hi Tightlevisandhhboots,

Nice boots, thanks for sharing the final results. What is the final height of the shaft of your boots? This is reviving my interest to get a pair of western boots, both yours and Onyourtoe's boots are really nice. Do you have rubber heels on them?

    Thanks again,

    Mtnsofheels

The shaft is a 16 inch shaft. THe heel caps are rubber, but the rest is stacked leather. Sorry for the late response, been out wearing them too much!!!

  20. I have two pair of Cowboybootsusa (Jones Boots) from Mexico. The first pair was a 10.5 in what was supposed to be a 4 inch heel, that ended up being a 3.5 inch heel. This pair was a snug fighting 10.5. THe second pair I had custom made and are in my Album here. They were supposed to be 4.5 inch heel, and came in at 4 inch. I asked for a slight looser fit, and ended up with an 11 I think, that I either have to wear two thick pair of wool socks, or one pair and an insole to wear comfortably. The workman ship is very nice on the boots, but the heels seem to be marginal for every day use. The cap wore out pretty quick on the first pair, and actually came off with a small piece of the stacked leather heel. I was able to reglue and nail the heel back on, and I have worn them every where, hiking in the mountains of Alaska, in snow storms, rain, walked many miles on sidewalks and gravel streets etc, so they wear pretty well, just watch the heels. I am thinking of getting a pair of the 5 inch or even the 5.5, but waiting for now. Hope this helps others. Tightlevisandhhboots
