  1. Wow, how times have changed. When I went to school 3 x $320 = $960. Either Guy N. Heels didn't account for inflation, or perhaps we've uncovered a secret that he's one of those economists working for the government. It's all so confusing. lol

Well, I guess that the recent heatwave out on the left coast has fried Raincat's circuits, but I think I said that the average cost for the shoes would be more than $320, and so now Raincat seems to have some strange bone to pick about $960 not being more than $320 or some such nonsense. If Raincat needs some sort of further clarification, I'll be glad to mention that, at least as often as not, my postings on this forum are going out in the middle of the night and are likely to be flavored with some medical enhancements after I've managed to get back home from many hours worth of doctor's or hospital visits. But I'll also be glad to pray that Raincat never has to deal with bone cancer the way I have done for the last 6 years.:)

As for Raincat's keen observations about government economists, I'd like to point out that I'm not the one who wrecked the economy, and I'm not the one paying out many Billions of taxpayer's hard-earned dollars so that the crooks on Wall Street can feather their nests at Taxpayer's expense. But since this is a forum about high heels and not economics, I'll refrain from any further comments about such matters.

  2. Well, I never thought I'd live to see this, but while I was watching "The Price Is Right" today, a female contestant was required to place 3 different groups of items in their ascending order of price. So one group was some kitchen appliances, one group consisted of some household items, and on group consisted of 3 pairs of high heeled fashion shoes. Now the shoes were actually 3 pairs if what appeared to be some high-fashion patent-leather pumps in various heel heights ranging from about 3" to what appeared to be about 5" heels. Nothing particularly exotic or erotic with any of them.

Well the pretty female contestant did in fact place the groups in the correct order, and so she won the round; but I was absolutely flabbergasted when they turned-over the card and revealed the price. I NEVER imagined I would ever see 3 pairs of high heel$ going for the collective price of (big drum roll) $1880 American! :) While they did not reveal the individual prices, that still would average out to over $620 a pair! Needless to say, I've never had a single pair of shoes on my feet, heeled or otherwise, that cost anywhere near $600. In fact, I personally don't even know anyone who has ever worn such expensive shoes. I think you Brits have got it right when you talk about shopping on High Street. At those prices they would indeed be way, yonder high! :):penitent::)

  3. It could be a corn or an ingrowing toe nail at fault. See your chiropodist, they'll have you sorted in no time.

Well, I don't know what one of those guys are :) , but it might be worth a visit. Just don't use the feet to do what shoetrees/ stretchers are intended to do! :) For crying out loud, you can never grow another pair of feet! :)

  4. Sizes are just crazy for shoes, unless you are really lucky buying shoes on-line is really a tough one. I have shoes in size 35 35.5 36 and a couple pairs bigger ... steve madden and aldo tend to fit me fairly true to size, but I have feet a bit on the narrow side... Gucci tend to run a bit small as well.... Plus your size in a four or four and a half inch heel is different than a kitten heel or a boot. That is one reason why you need to put shoes on and feel each pair to see what works and what does not. The angle of the shoe changes as some heels are cut with a flatter heel area and some shoes leave the heel area at a steep angle.... some are more stable and comfy and some are just torment in a pretty box. Ask any woman about her " three hour heels " or " just for dinner " or just for a dinner at home heels cause you can't make it to the car in them... I work in sales and drive all day and spend a lot of time on my feet. I tend to buy more expensive shoes that are well made and well fitting so I can get thru a ten + hour day in my four to five inch heels..... A day in well fitting shoes is way better than lunch and back in shoes that don't fit.

Love that: "Torment in a pretty box." comment. I've said it here many times before, but my old GF never wore her heels outside of my apartment; so I assume those were "bedroom only shoes".

In any case, you go, girl!

  5. Is there really any need to start throwing insults at somebody who was banned 2.5 years ago and can never reply?

    :):clap::)

I guess some folks are so itchy on the "trigger fingers" that they never bother to read a date on these posts. Nevertheless, it's always a good reminder that some people do go "overboard" and get banned from time to time; and if you happen to be real "quick on the draw" with the insults, you could be the next one out.

  6. Twaddle from union officials who have far too much time on their hands.

They should take up wearing heels themselves, then they would have something to do for excitement.

A place that stilettos are banned is White Scar caves just east of the lake district.

    Reason

Most of the walkways are on metal gratings with 2x4cm holes.

    a) it's a lot of walking on them and on tiptoe is hell with low ceilings.

:) guaranteed broken heel or ankle.

Beyond that it's just common sense.

    Al

I don't think this will happen by any chance, but if the media does finally persuade the ladies to stop wearng heels, then that will certainly boost our chances of stealing and wearng high heels from the ladies closets. After all, we must save the shoe industry in the world from extinction by all of us men buying and wearing high heels.

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

Well, I do not personally know of any work place where wearing high heels is required. So if it is purely a matter of fashion choices, then I think the unions are way off-base on this.

On the other hand, I have worked in places, such as aircraft factories, where heels were banned for safety reasons. In fact, with only one exception, I never saw anyone in that plant wearing heels, and we had a work force of 20,000. In short, it was just plain good sense.

  7. Okay, lessee see here; you've got a pair of 5" heels that you've decide to wear fairly consistantly for about a week. Of course, you didn't tell us about your previous experience before you decide to go for the 1 week marathon, so I'm assuming that you have had minimal experience with 5" heels, and most likely, none at all. So after a week strutting around on 5" heels you decide to "come down to earth", but after a few days you start experiencing some pains that you didn't have before. Is that about right? Well the first thing that needs to be said is that the human anatomy is NOT a piece of machinery, and so it is unreasonable to expect everyone to experience exactly the same things to any given set of circumstances. But in general, most people who delberately throw all caution to the wind and climb up on a pair of 5" heels from ground zero for an extended period of time, i.e. a day or more, can expect to experience different pains from the sudden and extended stress that they have applied to a number of seldom-used parts of their bodies. In most cases, back, shoulder, neck, and leg pain arrives in a matter of hours to announce the fact that some sort of abuse has taken place. However, it may be that one has done some "conditioning" of certain parts of their anatomy due to biking, jogging, or some other exercise that might forestall the onset of the kind of pain many of us heel-wearers have suffered. That doesn't mean that the stress was unnoticed. It merely means that the applied stress and resultant strain took a little longer to announce itself. Now I know that this topic has been covered many times before now, so I'm not going to repeat it all again. But very clearly, one thing that bears saying again is the fact that 5" heels are not to be worn without prior conditioning and without first mastering 3" heels and then 3 1/2" heels, and then 4" heels as one seeks the higher altitude of those 5" ers. You might actually "getaway" without the preconditioning, but I have till yet to meet anyone who has done so. So keep on climbing up on those 5" ers without regard for your body - you will soon find new friends among the people in the local Emergency Room.

  8. Hi folks, this is my first post so be kind :penitent:.

I wore heels out today, for about 1/2 hour a great thrill

Howdy Brake Blocks, and welcome to the forum. ;) ;)

If you like heels then yer definitely in the right place. We've got folks here from around the world who either wear or just like to talk about heels. So linger a while and find out who's doing what.

  9. Two good, but conflicting peices of advice. The first thing that you need to evaluate is why the heel tip came loose. Sometimes a person favors one foot over the other and the non-favored foot/shoe gets some rough action. Most people who are right-handed tend to strike the right foot harder than the other, thus pre-maturely wearing out the sole and heel of that one shoe. If that's the case and the other shoe shows little sign or wear, then a tube of DuPont contact cement will probably fill the bill.

On the other hand (foot), if both shoes exhibit about an equal amount of wear, then Lee's advice would be worth considering. After all, there's little point in mending one shoe only to have to do it all over again on the other in a few days.

  10. So are they going to issue visitors wearing high heels disposable flip flops or something so that they don't cause any damage??

It is probably a little difficult for the average American to relate to this kind of problem. But I have seen some sites where deterioration was setting-in and safeguards were prudent. In fact I was more than a little astonished to find how quickly steel-capped stairs could be worn away under constant foot traffic; and even granite, one of the harder stones known, begins to show significant wear under several thousand footfalls a day. So I would expect the authorities at those "delicate" sites to post appropriate notices about appropriate footwear & conduct, and then to simply turn away anyone who was not willing to read and heed those notices.
  11. If a child is found to be under the height requirement but had worn high heels or whatever in order to decieve the operators then they are solely (pardon the pun) responsible for their own actions ...

Moreover, if the child wearing high heels contributes to the injury of others or to a mechanical malfunction then the park and the injured parties can seek damages from the child's parents or the responsible adult.

The rules are there for safety and no other reason, they are not there because the park charges a lower admission for small children.

    I think your answer is spot-on! ;)

Safety should always be the top priority! But X-ray equipment for shoes??!??! Somebody's got a screw loose somewhere! Why not just ask the youngsters to remove their footwear and then check to see if they "measure-up"? If not, then show 'em the exit!

Since I am not a legal-eagle to start with, I'll make no comments about lawsuits in England; or is it Britain; or perhaps United Kingdom?

  12. Yes - I find that wearing 6 in pumps causes calf muscle cramps. I read here that practice eases the pain as it strengthens the muscles. I wonder if such practice will help Senior Citizens who have trouble maintaining their balance while standing still. sven

;):penitent:;)If a person (of whatever age) is already having trouble balancing and walking in reasonably low heels, then I'm inclined to say that high heels are out of the question! :penitent: Loss of balance and stability is a sure sign that many physical changes have/are occured/occuring and these are almost always irreversable. As a fahsion accessory and sometimes a sexual stimulant, high heels are simply not worth jeaporadising one's health over :penitent: One trip to the emergency room would easily negate any benefit one could possibly hope to obtain from heels.

You'll all be pleased to know that the calf muscle "stiffness" eventually disappeared, but it took until Sunday morning before got up out of bed without feeling it. The last time muscle stiffmess lasted so long was with my biceps, after a punishing session in the gym with a trainer.

Will I do it again? Of course I will, whenever the opportunity presents itself! It doesn't come very often now, with both of us retired, so a guryl's got to make the most of every chance she gets. Hasn't she???

    T

(Please see my post in orange above.) Remember, heels are not playthings! :lmao: A great deal of one's anatomy is employed in wearing them properly. The proper preconditioning does not happen just the moment you put on the shoes.

Moreover, to deliberately jeaporadize one's health for high heels makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine! :w00t2: Especially when one can do the preconditioning exercises in just 15 minutes a day while wearing clothing of your choice (including pajamas, if you wish). :penitent: I would either wait until the SO ran out to the store for something, or else make it a point to get home about 20 minutes before she does and do them then.

  13. Hi im Male and from the age of about 20 im 24 now and i've always liked to see women in high heels! Not the mad pornstar type of heels but more of the sexy sandal/ankle strap type of shoes. Is this strange? Everytime I see a good looking girl in sandals it turns me on! ;)

Considering how heels tend to change the female figure, posture, gait, etc; I'd say that there would have to be something strange going on if you didn't get turned-on. Almost every woman is enhanced by high heels - some more so than others. ;)

  14. stilletto heels are LEATHAL i remember watching a film that i cannot remember the title of but there was a scene in the film where a woman was being attacked by a man. eventually she had a chance to give him a good kicking. she kicked him in the forehead with a heel. the heel was bedded so far in his skull that she could not remove her shoe. as you can imagine the man was stone dead. he looked rather odd with a shoe stuck to his head:unsure:;)

There was a similar scene in the classic cheese fest that is Elvira!

    any sport is dangerous :penitent:

I once walked down a slippery slope ... gras... had rained... I was young and I was not even into hh... but I sliped and got my hand very unlucky bhind my back to catch my fall and broke my arm... so no need to wear hh to break something! :penitent:

"Women should stick to shoes with heels less than 4cm (1.5in) if they wanted to avoid a trip to hospital, he advised." ;)

Well now, do we have doctor do-good or what? I know some women who couldn't walk a straight line in beach flip-flops while others seem to have little difficulty on 6" skyscraper heels! Also, with my collapsed spine, it's not impossible for me to hurt myself just getting out of bed. Someone please tell the good doctor that the world is a dangerous place.

I was a bit surprised to see this thread revived, but the last time I looked the world is still a danerous place.

  15. I hate it when i go out on the tiles and round about 2 o clock my toes look blue and bending them is so painfull!!

Why do we do it to our selfs girls x

Blue toes from wearing heels? That's a "strange!" Appears to me that there is more to your blue toes than cold weather. Improper blood circulation in your feet, perhaps?

I'm inclinded to agree with Bubba, Ilovemyheals. Thanks to the meds I now have to take to fight cancer, I've lost quite a bit of feeling in my feet, which is part of why I can no longer wear heels as I once did. However, the huge difference between you and me is that I know why I have lost feeling in my feet. I would suggest that you pay a visit to a competent doctor for a check-up. There seems to be something going on that you need to know more about. ;)

  16. I rather hate the fact that the United States now wants to take my ten fingerprints just to enter their country for a holiday, I have been going to the States for years but I am having serious second thoughts about going there this year. To quote No. 6 from the prisoner "I am a free man my life is my own"

    Billy

Give it a rest. Homeland Security doesn't take a coffee break without fingerprints - especially around Washington. That's the wonderful new world in which we now live.
  17. Rude people would one of my pet hates. I have worked in the public service industry for over twenty seven years and people have become more difficult to please and far more demanding and not forgetting rude in recent times, I only ask to be treated with the same level of respect and courtesy that I extend to them

Thanx, Bad Robot. Just when I was beginning to think I was the only one the world hated, you come along and confirm - 'tain't me, 'tain't you, it's THEM! Well I can't be sure if its something going into the drinking water or the air we breathe, but something sure is making this latest generation mighty cantankerous. Try to put on a happy face; laugh whenever possible, and if the other guy needs a smile - give him one of yours.
  18. Affordable "aka Cheep" foot wear can have good arch support you just have to try them on, even for my GF no matter how cool they are, no arch support no buy. Nothing beats high quality foot wear, it depends on if you want to pay for it. Some times expansive foot wear has no arch support as well.

A pair of boots I have has only a 3.5" heel with moderate arch support but it's not that bad to make me return them. Heel cup and insole for less than eight bucks work well on these boots. I am talking about for all day wear with them as well. However any higher than 3.5/3.75" I get very picky, no support, no keepers. ;)

You make excellent points. The bottom line here is that we will receive what we insist upon. If more people would make it known that the mfgr. simply must build a quality shoe if he wants to sell it, then we wouldn't have to put up with the junk. Moreover, people need to recognize that the after market add-ins are really no subsitute for a well made shoe.
  19. Buy - Wear - put away. Its so much cheaper.

To buy, wear, and put away is the thing sensible people do. To buy, wear, and throw away is not only expen$ive, but also INSANE! That's literally throwing away good money that you could have put to some other use! Think on it! Even giving the money to some charity would accomplish much more. Besides, yer going to find that there is no one "perfect" pair of shoes that will last you for all time. Yer need for 1 pair quickly becomes a need for 2, then 4 and so-on. So if you have any notions about buying one single pair that will satisfy you for all time, you may dismiss them now - that's also insane!

Your best bet is to hang around here with us and find out what real men who actually wear high heels are doing - both with their shoes and their lives.

  20. Thanks Bubba, I needed some moral support on that one. But in reviewing this thread, I find that one of my major pet hates is when I find other people attributing wording to another person (especially me) that they never really said or implied. Or "putting words in someone's mouth" as the old saying goes. It is rude and annoying, if not downright slanderous whenever people do that. Unfortunately, living here in Washington it is something that occurs almost daily in many of the the area newspapers, and even the electronic media. Now I'll admit that most of the major newspapers around here have been burnt so badly on this that they do take pains to ensure that it doesn't happen, but even so, things do slip through from time-to-time. However, I'm not really talking about the news media here. What I'm really talking about is what others do behind someone's back: the chat over the backyard fence, the "friendly" telephone conversation (strike that and say gossip instead), the office rumormonger, even members of one's own family might get caught-up in this evil thing. Well I hate it and I always try to knock it down on the spot whenever I sense that that's what's going on! ;) I just wish that there were more people around who would stand-up against this sort of wreched slander and call people on it whenever they spot it! I believe we would all find ourselves in a much more enjoyable world if folks did stand up for what's right. ;)

  21. I totally agree! Despite my numbers being registered as unavailable for cold-calls, I still get them - usually from overseas with wierdly-accented goons trying to interest me in very doubtful investments. The best tack is usually to put the phone down after a short, sharp indication of extreme apathy. But sometimes a pithy remark about the meaning of 'no', or a counter-question of a personal nature, will get rid of the intrusion. When asked as an opener 'How are you today?' (as is common), I will invariably explain at a little length about my various aches and pains and add ' But I was feeling much improved until you called'.

I am now waiting to experience yozz's call with a reference to a 'referent'. Such an abuse of the English language will merit stern action; 'referent' means 'an object of reference or discussion', not the person who wants to have a discussion with you.

Back to the barricades ... I can see some junk mail coming up the path ...

One of my greatest annoyances is being phoned by people who want to

sell you things that you are absolutely not interested in.

I usually tell them immediately that I don't buy anything by telephone but

a significant fraction is so stupid as to not understand that.

One reaction is: "Just a moment please" and then I put the phone down

    and go do something else.

I also think it is rather ironic that I have to explain to a woman the meaning

of the word "no". (that was the most recent one).

The worst I encountered recently was a call center that rings your phone

and when you pick it up, you get to hear: "One moment please, you are

being connected with your referent". And when you just hang up, they keep

doing this every day till you don't.

    Y.

I had one the other day who called me on the landline, the conversation went like this:

"Can I speak to Mr. Robertson please?"

"No, sorry, there's no one here by that name..."

    "Are you sure?"

    'Er... yes I am..."

"But I need to speak to him urgently!"

"No, You have the wrong number."

"Well I'm sure I got the right number."

"No, there'sno one here by that name here."

'But I need to speak to him urgently!"

"Oh! Why didn't you say so at the start? I'll just go and get him."

I put the phone down and went about my business for a few minutes and then picked it up again and he was still there.

"I've just checked in all the cupboards an under the beds and I can assure you that there is no one at this address who should not be here. I have also asked my wife whether we have a Mr Robertson staying here and she said 'no". I then went up into the loft just in case there was someone hiding up there but there wasn't. Finally I went around the house calling his name ad no one answered. therefore it is safe to say with a 100% certainty that there is no oe here by the name of Mr Robertson!!!"

    "Are you absolutely certain?"

"Er... I don't seem to be getting through to you do I?"

"So, could you tell me your name please?"

    "Certainly."

    pause

    "Er... so what is it?"

"My name is Sir Athony Troublesome-Wench!"

    "Could you spell that please?"

    "Yes."

    pause

"Er.. could you spell that to me please?"

    "OK, It's M.R. R.O.B.E.R.T.S.O.N"

    Then I hung up...

I can totally appreciate your frustrations over those "wrong numbers", people. So please consider the following:

Ringing telephone is answered by young girl, "Hello."

"Hi sweettie, this is Daddy. Can I speak to Mommy?"

YG - "No, she can't come to the phone now."

    D - "Why not?"

YG - "She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul and can't come to the phone."

D - "But sweetie, you don't have an uncle Paul..."

YG - (interrupting)"Oh yes I do! And he's up in the bedroom with Mommy!"

D - "Sweetie, I want you to help me with a little game. Holler in a loud voice that my car just pulled into the driveway; and then tell me what happens."

YG - "Gee Daddy, you never wanted me to do anything like that before."

D - "Well yes, I know. But help me out with this just this once, okay?"

YG - "Well, since you say so and only this once, okay?"

The phone is set down and the dad hears the young girl yell, "Daddy's car just drove up and is out in the driveway!" This seems to be followed by muffled yelling and screaming accompanied by a flurry of activity.

D - "So tell me what happened, sweetie?"

YG - (Out of breath) "Everybody got all excited and started yelling and screaming and running around with no clothes on! Then Mommy came running out of the bedroom with no clothes and started toward the bathroom. Only she tripped on something and hit her head on a piece of furniture. Right now she's lying on the floor. She's bleeding from her head and not moving. Uncle Paul was all excited and ran out the bedroom window and he was yelling and cursing and everything, and he wasn't wearing any clothes either! Then he decided to jump in our swimming pool out back! Only I guess that he was all excited and didn't see that you had drained the pool last week so you could clean it and get it ready for summer. Anyhow, Uncle Paul is now lying at the bottom of the pool bleeding bad and I think he might be dead!"

    D - "Pool?!? What pool?!? Is this 355-456-3572???" ;) ;)

  22. In response to all the grammatical pet peeves, being 18 and geeky. I do all that. I say "I is tired" instead of "I am tired". I will use "like" in a sentence a lot. I use internet phrases, and many more grammatical imperfections.

Personally I view this as a generational thing. It's just something I do naturally, as do my friends. However, there is a time and a place for grammatical perfection and I find that people who don't understand that are annoying. However, I do not fault the act itself of grammatical imperfections in casual conversation.

I find your point very badly taken, Samcar455. Bad language and improper usage only serves to corrupt good manners. ;) What actually happens, is that the person "butchering" the Queen's English develops bad speech habits that, over time, become so ingrained that they can't do otherwise. Keep it up and the day may arrive when you find yourself using such terrible imperfections in front of the Queen herself! You simply would not be able to help yourself; and THAT'S not a generational thing! It's a major blunder and embarrassment!!!. ;):penitent: :penitent:

  23. DWW, at least one lesson that should be gleaned from our (US) chaos is that size means nothing, and bigger may in fact be more vulnerable! When a company like GM starts waving the bankruptcy flag you know that the big ones fall the hardest! General Motors was so cross assetted with other companies and holder for so many subsideraries that I won't even attempt to name them all. But believe me, the automobile business is only the tip of the iceberg for them. The average man will never know all of the rest of the story.
