Well, I did say the information was second hand I don't live in the states, and have only been to NYC for two weeks but I saw one person round Tribeca who looked like a guy in heels. If an occ. visitor like me can spot them, so can you. It happens quite a lot in London Uk, you just need to keep your eyes open and be aware.

Loads of times in London. I have told by those in the know that areas like Texas are not very good areas for this kind of thing. They are are populated by many rednecks, republican voters, and a lot of inward looking people. You'd probably need to go somewhere more free thinking like California, Florida, or New York.
-
Great stuff! I believe wedge heels would be easier though. That's what I've used.
-
I'd be willing to do Brighton sometine, probably in the summer. But, there's a good train service to London. Get a cheap day return and you can be at Oxford street in 90 mins
-
Personally I've never bothered. They don't look any different to ordinary shoes and one isn't taking advantage of the opportunity to increase public awareness of male heel wearing. It's a bit like an alcoholic pouring whiskey into a coke can and drinking from that so people wont know. If you like doing something there's no point living a lie. The sooner you face up to it the better.

I wear cotton/lycra ankle socks usually. Otherwise it is sweaty. I've noticed some people on the net have a huge interest in women wearing shoes without socks. I think this has something to do with sweat/smell.

95% positive. This is obviously skewed as people don't tend to make negative comments to your face, they are more likely to do it behind your back. However, my guess at women's feelings from those who I have met are 20% are interested and very supportive. The vast majority (75%?) are indifferent and there's a small perentage (5%?) who are quite anti. This latter group are either jealous, ignorant, or brainwashed of rational independant thought (eg by religion). (I should add, Im excluding giggly teenage girls in this anlaysis. These people are quite likely to giggle at heels, but they they may well giggle if you are wearing the wrong brand of trainers, or they may even be giggling at themselves, so it's impossible to make any logical analyisis of their reactions)

Jimmy Choo has a shop in Knightsbridge. I wouldn't call it a store though. More a designer emporium where the rich are relieved of large wads of cash. My rant and rave is we seem to be losing some of London's shoe shops. Shelley's (gasp), Dolcis, and Shoe Express to name but three. I blame cheap Chinese shoes and the internet shops.

There you go. Thought it was that

To be fair they also mention "hose" quite a lot too...

Heelfan or Dr Shoe on this board can point you in the direction of a few specialist bigfoot shops. I think there are some near Oxford street. Elephant feet is one I think. Or you can get leather 8's and stretch up to a 9. Most leather shoes will stretch up 1 size.

Well OK, Nina, I will let you off then
I've got about 25 years experince walking in heels outside. There are a few pics of me on the web too.

Most of the guys at the heel meet were experts in heels. A3 for example can walk around in ballet boots, and I mean walk quite naturally, not stagger. He wore them for four hours at Torture Garden; very impressive and not something I could do, or indeed women either. How are your ballet boot skills?

Amazing story. To be honest nothing like that has even remotely happened in the UK in 20 years of heel wearing. If it did I'd call the Police.

Here's another one that mainly focuses on celebrity wear:
http://toe-cleavage.blogspot.com/
Some very nice full length pics, many featuring designer heels.
They like toe cleavage which doesn't interest me particuarly, but the good thing is it guarantees a good picture of the whole celebrity including the feet and shoes. There's nothing more annoying than a picture of an outfit ruined by cutting off the feet. The shoes are part of the total look so they should be shown.
-
I didn't really wear them publically till university and after (21+). There's quite a lot of peer pressure at a younger age, although knowing what I do now, I think it would have been possible if done in the right way.
-
Yes good luck! Well I thought the photos were really quite good. Most women would die for that figure. If you don't like them using your photos in the article, then no need to take it to court. Just find the webhosts and ask for them to be removed because you consider the article defamatory, and threaten them with action if they don't. They will usually comply with that if you can prove the photos are of you.

He's certainly got a great collection fo shoes, but he's also got a great collection of stories to explain the unusual features of his "office" set up.
-
I may have lost something in translation here, but are you saying someone took your picture and then wrote a defamatory article It is allowed to take pictures of a person in a public place but not use them in a defamatory context, so you are within your rights to ask them to remove your pictures in this case.

I don't usually read the shoe fashion blogs because I find them to be very shallow. They usually just state something like "These are really sexy sandals for this seasons parties and you can get them at Faith shoes"
One exception is Zappos customer comments which read like a blog with many different authors, telling about the shoes and how well they fit and even some talk about some experiences with them. The only problem is Zappos don't ship to Europe:
-
Guys cant wear / walk with them without bending their knees. in most cases, and it looks just funny.
This statement is completely wide of the mark. I'd agree that some guy who tries them on just for a laugh for the first time may appear like that, and I think this is all you have experienced, judgeing by your comment.
-
I feel like a freak and a complete laughingstock.
A woman wearing heels risks getting called a tart. Wearing heels as a guy you are being even more avant garde. You can't expect to blaze fashion trails without some comment.

Don't worry JoJo, we are sure to be having other meet ups in the near future, especially in the London area. It may not be on the scale of the other one, but we'll no doubt get out for a few beers and a meal plus a look at the shops.

Yes, size 15 mens US. And to get the same experience the heel on those needs to be proportionally bigger. You could be talking 1/3" -1/4" increase in heel with each shoe size, so you should be looking at least 5- 5 1/2" heels. Even 6" heels in large size like 15 would not be out of synch with women's 4" streetwear in their smaller sizes. When you get your shoes, compare the angle of the instep with that on your girlfriend's shoes. That's a better test than basic heel height.

Actually I find the candid clips much more fascinating. There's a human story behind a girl who was actually enjoying her heels, as opposed to an actress who was just instructed to dangle or whatever for the camera. Technically, these "hidden" cam shots are well presented with good heels and OK lighting but I think the author should be honest about the origin. (either that or make more convincing clips!)
