  1. Hi! To those of you above who mentioned hotels, don't worry about this for next year's World Heelmeet. I live in central Bristol, and am familiar with all of the local hotels from very cheap to very expensive. I'll be very happy to advise and help any members well in advance of the Big Day! NOT TO BE MISSED IN 2011. Last week's was fantastic! Cheers, Heelfan

  2. Yes, I agree with those above, it was the best Heel-Meet ever! That was said about the one I hosted in Bristol a few years ago, but I'm the first to admit that this outstripped everything that had gone before: The pre-Heelmeet meal on Friday night was fantastic - friendly restaurant, very reasonable prices, lovely food, and a great gathering of 10, almost all wearing stunning heels (although never compulsory!). Halfway though the dinner, we received a transAtlantic call from Crotchinboots to wish us all a happy 2010 World Heel-meet, which was a very nice thought. Yesterday (Saturday) was the main Heelmeet in Davina's wonderfully spacious upstairs lounge in the Marina, with a huge picture window forming the whole of one wall with breathtaking views of Bristol Harbour with all the boats, and the ever-changing scene. It was the perfect Heel-meet venue, with plenty of sofas and chairs on which to relax in heels and admire and chat about each other's great shoes, include some photography (I think you'll soon be seeing some new avatars!). Davina's Marina staff brought up a superb and varied buffet - by far the best and most tasty we've had at any heelmeet. In mid-afternoon, Davina organised an excellent boat trip around the harbour and Bristol waterways as far as Warmley and back, some of Davina's friends in excellent shoes and outfits joined the group, and a total of 42 thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the boat cruise. The evening was devoted to a barbecue for everyone on the balcony with stunning evening views of the water, the yachts and the motorboats. This morning (Sunday), some of us paid a fascinating visit to the SS Great Britain, the World's first iron-hulled ship built in 1845. It is permanently berthed right next to the Marina heel-meet venue, and has been voted Britain's best tourist attraction. Some members' stilettos sank down into holes in deck grilles and gratings, but fortunately I had changed from 4.5" stilettos into 3.5" blades heels which survived these hazards without scuffs. Dr. Shoe had done a superb job in choosing and lining-up the venue, Davina was the perfect and most generous a friendly host, and everyone without exception had an absolutely fantastic time. It was all so good that Dr. Shoe has already announced that next year's World Heel-Meet will be at the same place, probably at the same time of year. Bristol's airport has expanded to take international flights from more and more countres, which removes any need to be nearer to London. Finally, I would say that we all enjoyed it hugely and only felt sad that those of you who didn't make it missed an absolutely fantastic and memorable event in every way. Do please make every effort to join us next year to make in an even bigger event - you certainly won't be disappointed!!! Cheers, Heelfan

  7. SCHEDULE FOR THE 2010 WORLD HEELMEET, BRISTOL, UK Dr. Shoe (overall organizer from London) asked me (Heelfan, in Bristol) to locate venues etc. so now I post these more detailed arrangements: FRIDAY 18th JUNE, 2010, 7pm. PRE-HEELMEET DINNER. All those arriving on Friday are invited to meet and this restaurant: River City, corner of Cumberland Road and Hanover Place, Bristol, BS1 6XU. Try googling this postcode into Google Maps UK and you'll see exactly where it is. I've chosen it because short Hanover Place leads straight into to the gates of Bristol Marina, the venue for the following morning's Heelmeet, only 200 metres from the restaurant. River City is a brand new restaurant with a keen owner called Rob whose prices are very reasonable (£4 - £8 for the main course) and he will push some tables together once he knows how many are coming. PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD (or on the other Bristol Heelmeet thread) to let us know if you are joining us for this Friday evening pre-Heelmeet meal. SATURDAY 19th JUNE 2010, MAIN HEELMEET: 10.30am (OR AS SOON AFTER AS YOU CAN MAKE IT) Assemble in the PRIVATE UPSTAIRS FLOOR (use exterior staircase) of BRISTOL MARINA’S BUILDING: Bristol Marina, at end of Hanover Place (off Cumberland road), BRISTOL, BS1 6UH.The Marina has its own spacious car park and wonderful balcony views of the boats and harbour. Davina is laying-on a splendid lunchtime buffet (we ask you to chip-in £5 each). A great opportunity to mingle and chat away from the public gaze, and talk/compare heels etc. APPROX. 2.30pm Move across to the upstairs (privately booked) room of this pub in Central Bristol: The Griffin, Corner of Colston Street and Trenchard Street, Bristol, BS1. This is much more central for Bristol’s shops for those who wish to go shoe shopping and optionally to consider the large choice of central restaurants etc. for the Saturday evening. Again, the upstairs room in the Griffin is for the group’s exclusive use, so that any shy-guys can show each other their heels without any public embarrassment. SUNDAY 20th JUNE: Any folks hoping to stay or for part or all of Sunday will have plenty of time during the Saturday to arrange any mutually agreeable plans for Sunday. REMINDER: Please post now to let us know a) whether you are participating in the Friday evening meal, and  To confirm (especially if you have not yet done so) that you are attending the main Heelmeet this Saturday. We look forward to seeing you (heels encouraged, but never compulsory!), Cheers, Heelfan (you can contact organizer Dr. Shoe on 07958 582692 or attender Firefox on 07941 172043)

  8. Hi Krazykev64, Great Idea Kev! I've often though we Britishers should follow the example of similar charity high-heel-walk events that are established elsewhere in the world. Well done! However, (and please understand that I'm being totally constructive about this), I think that Swansea is only likely to get well under half-a-dozen participants, because it's right out on a limb for the vast majority of UK heel-wearing guys. I know all this, because I've organised many previous heel-meets for the members of this forum in London, the South, the West, Wales, the Midlands and even Paris! For this charity heel walk (and especially as it's the first in the UK), I'd highly recommend having it somewhere MUCH more central to the whole of the UK like say, Oxford or Birmingham. I imagine it's probably a lot further for you personally to travel, but I think that for it to be successful it should be equally accessible for members from Scotland, Wales and England plus anyone keen enough to come over the water. As long as a suitable venue is sorted out, as a veteran member who's still street-heeling in public after 54 years, I'd love to take part!!! Cheers, Heelfan

  13. The suggestion of a Heel-Meet north of Watford is too late for this year (remember also that England is not the only country in the world for a WORLD Heel-Meet) because Dr. Shoe has already put in a lot of work to locate and book a fabulous waterside venue in Bristol for this year's WHM on June 19th 2010. However, I'm sure that all alternative suggestions would be welcomed for 2011, and in the meantime - well done Dr. Shoe and keep up the good work! Cheers, Heelfan

  14. REPORT ON OUR BRISTOL HEEL-MEET OF 1st AUGUST 2009 Yes, to confirm the other above postings by attenders, the Heel-Meet went very well. Especially when we only confirmed it on HH Place five days beforehand and we got eight attenders: ILoveHiHeels from Petersfield, who brought along his red patent stilettos. Nhoj62 from Nailsea. Mikeheel from Bath who wore his Fuss court shoes model 1919-1820-Nero-A in black leather with a 5" semi-slim heel (Xaphod is also a keen buyer of this model). Me (Heelfan) from Bristol wearing my 4 1/2" beige stiletto ankleboots. Si (Simon) from High Wycombe who wore a pair of black Mary Janes with semi-chunky heels Dr. Shoe in Tara mode with silvery-grey dress and 6" heels (3/4" platforms) Dr. Shoe's friend John from Gravesend Dr. Shoe's friend Dawn from Oxford who was sadly unable to wear heels due to a torn achilles tendon. We had an enjoyable look around several of the shoe shops in Cribb's Causeway Mall and some lunch. Then the group drove into central Bristol in convoy and visited Peachy Shoes where Dr. Shoe purchased a pair of 6" heels with rapier-thin lower sections with the toe-box and ankle strap in lime green suede. Simon and ILoveHiHeels then walked down from there to Broadmead and Cabot Circus (see the above report), and later Simon joined Dr. Shoe and friends at Davina's yacht marina headquarters for the evening's transvestite party. This was extremely enjoyable and well attended, and is the venue that has been proposed by Dr. Shoe for the next World Heel Meet around May 2010. A great time was had by all, and we recommend all those of you who missed out on this Heel-Meet to be sure to try and come and enjoy future events! Cheers, Heelfan

  15. In the meantime folks, why don't you all come up and enjoy this coming Saturday's (1st August) Heel-Meet at Bristol (see the adjacent thread))? It's not a million miles from Winchester for those with zestful enthusiasm, especially as Dr. Shoe is coming all the way from London and Si is coming from High Wycombe. Why not go for it, meet the five of us who are already doing Bristol, and then firm up your Winchester/Portsmouth/Southampton heel-meet plans afterwards? That gives you TWO to look forward to! Cheers, Heelfan

  16. Even better folks! I only posted confirmation of this Bristol Heel-meet on Monday at 5pm, and already we've got six EXPECTED ATTENDERS: Dr. Shoe Heelfan LovesHiHeeels nhoj62 mikeheel Si Anyone else is more than welcome to join us on Saturday for a great heely day. 18. Hi All! The BRISTOL HEEL-MEET for this SATURDAY 1st AUGUST is now definitely ON!!! Therefore, all arrangements are now POSTED on another special sister thread "BRISTOL HEELMEET SATURDAY 1st AUGUST 2009". Please refer to that thread for all the details, and post on that thread if you plan to attend. Hope to see you there! Cheers, HEELFAN

  19. Having telephoned Dr. Shoe/Tara (who posted the "Mini Heel-Meets in Bristol?" thread), this Saturday's meet on SAT 1st AUGUST is definitely ON! Therefore, I've offered to finalise it in this special thread for this date: DATE: Saturday 1st August 2009 MEETING POINT: STARBUCKS coffee house, centrally situated on the ground floor of the Mall (near the central fountain) inside the main MALL, CRIBB'S CAUSEWAY shopping complex, just off M5, JUNCTION 17 just north of Bristol. PARKING: Vast FREE car Park in front of the Mall. MEETING TIME: 12 NOON. HEELS: Are encouraged, but certainly not compulsory. I will be wearing my 4.5" heeled beige ankle boots. TIMETABLE: A wander around the excellent selection of shoe shops in Cribb's Causeway followed by lunch. Then, if the group wishes to, we could either stay on there or drive the 15 minutes into into central Bristol. Cabot Circus is the new shopping complex in central Bristol, but WARNING - their car park is horrendously expensive at £15 per day! Or, you may like to visit Mel at PEACHY SHOES (4" to 6" heels from gals' size 3 to guys' size 13). For those who optionally wish to stay into the evening, there is an excellent range of restaurants/pubs/clubs/cafes. TO ASSIST MEETING-UP: 1) Please bring with you a print-out of this posting with the details. 2) Please bring mobiles. If lost or late, ring me on 07966 450583. EXPECTED ATTENDERS: Please post below in this thread if you wish to attend. Let's have a good one! Cheers, HEELFAN

  20. I agree with those who queried the 14cm (5.5") heel height claim. They look to me more like 4.5" or 4.75" heels. Also, the depth of the toe box suggests a hidden platform of 1/2" to 3/4". This adds up to walking in the equivalent of 4" heels which most of us (male and female) find very easy indeed. The shallow angle of her instep confirms this. Genuine 5.5" heels with no platform usually push the instep up to near vertical. That would be a REAL road test for a reporter!!! Cheers, Heelfan
